Why is it that every piece of GNOME software ever produced. Is utter dogshit?
>>107566525This is true, I only need dbus for Firefox on gentoo. Funny thing, I only needed pulseaudio for Firefox too. Mozilla is gnome tier internally and people give them a free ride because Firefox has majority market share on Linux
>>107566541Having a system bus in the kernel would be a good thing if it wasn't being submitted by a total retard. I think skabus is currently the best thing to focus on; https://skarnet.org/software/skabus/The only issue with skarnet software is the author is not the type to hand hold. So you really have to dive into the man pages and know what you're doing to get it up and going. But then the second problem shows up: The fact that few people are running things like s6 and its related tools so you have to go searching for help in the few places where people are hacking on it. The mailing lists and some of the less visited pages on the gentoo wiki. It's hard to talk to these people as well because the gentoo forum is pretty hostile to non-mainstream software these days. So your best bet is going on IRC and hoping they're online.>>107566553You should be able to run Firefox without it and it'll only throw some errors to console you can ignore last I checked. If not you can check out the OpenBSD's thing for faking it. It should be fully portable to Linux/Gentoo. There were some wiki articles and threads about running things without dbus on the Gentoo forums years ago but I think they got purged when they deleted the off the wall forum.Last I checked the only thing that really breaks without dbus installed in Libreoffice. The context menus do not work if there is no dbus running.
>>107566329Wow, once you input the encryption password, the keys are decrypted? What is this hacker wizardry?
>>107566553>>107566573Also concerning the pulseaudio issue. If you switch to snido you can have a good sound server on Gentoo without all the issues plaguing Linux with sound servers at the moment. Firefox fully supports snido. snido is the best sound server I've used on UNIX. Jack/Jack2 is also pretty great. If you go the JACK route you can fake a pulseaudio instance and pipe it into JACK to get Firefox sound working without having to deal with ALSA+Pulseaudio/Pipewire madness. I use JACK on machines where I need a realtime kernel and snido everywhere else. Although I'm going to attempt switching fully to snido on systems where I run realtime kernel soon. I just need to test snido more on Linux realtime kernels before I attempt it.https://sndio.org/

Should I get pic related? It’s an auction that’s currently at zero bids with 1 day to go. A sharp 8800 system. I’ve currently got an about equally as old denon compact system that’s failing.

cheap way of getting into headphones and iems measurments? Mainly for my DIY stuff and maybe pad rolling but I have several pairs that are well documented so I can compare the measurements with online ones.Thougth about IEC711 knockoffs from china, and maybe flat plane for starting with it, other option is minidsp ears, much cheaper than full set of couplers, pinas from china but i read that measurements are inaccurate and its better to start with knockoff 711 or simillar
>>107566554The speakers to go with it oddly already have a few bids, currently at 10€. I don’t need much audiofoole stuff and I also don’t need niggerbass to wake up the whole neighborhood, I just want a nice, retro-ish stereo in my living room to pop in a CD when I feel like it (and to connect a record player) or some tapes with kids stories, and not have it sound like ass or having to fuss around with some stupid ass navigation on an SD card or home server shenanigans or Bluetooth bullshit. Shit just needs to werk, like in ye olden days.

These are CPUs that run as fast as an analog circuit for the most part. They don't clock and step with other CPUs except for specialized purposes like IO. They are of course a million times faster and use a fraction of the electricity.
>>107565908okay but can it actually do anything and if so where are the demos?
>>107566045iunnoi have yet to play around with the actual chipthe whole things seems to be at the same stage cpus were in the 70stheir catalog/packaging makes me think of the apple 1you get the chip, you got the specs, figure shit outyou can give 600 bucks for a development board + 2x 144-chipsi would. im strapped for cash atm but i would
>>107564244can you run soon on it
>>107564840if you do compute in analog then sure, but otherwise youre fooling yourself anything based on transistors or binary has to be and thats all there is to it, even if all youre doing is timing matching instructions to memory operations, those both have their own maximum speedsyou ever notice how amd and intel processors have minimum and maximum clock speeds? that's because they do instruction dependent execution as is already. all current CPUs are clockless in the same way as you're describing; their master clock is higher and in sync with any delays from lower level logic eg, alus, registers, memory, ect.anything using binary might as well be made out of marbles or plinko tokens

Got this chinky step counter, because I want to try and walk 10k steps a day, and it seems to work mostly fine, but it overmeasures my steps. For every 100 steps I take it counts 120. Not sure why this is happening and if there's a way to reprogram it somehow. It's probably designed for short asian legs and not for tall chads.

>>107565290>>gee, I wonder who might be pushing the agenda that people shouldn't have more kids cause it's bad for the planet or some other retard talking point.Literally, no one ever. People don't have kids because they can't afford them while keeping the same standards of living once an economy begins to stagnate. The phenomenon started before the whole planet crisis was even a thing, in Italy fertility rates collapsed sharply and suddenly in the early 1980s, and it interests places, like China, that are frankly the opposite of what you're likely referring to. Only the likes of Musk and Ursula Von Der Layen can afford to have a lot of kids. Guess why.>gee, I wonder who fucked the economy so badly that households couldn't be supported by a single provider.>guess our only solution is to import 500 million somali refugeesJews and... guess who? Jews. It's not even a solution and everyone know it, it's just yet another strategy to keep cost of labour low. But it's hardly the only one. Looking at the tree instead of the forest?>hurr durr, the women are taking away my job and dignity, mama!!!"I don't see any issue with the concept that women should/could work, they always did that to an extent or another (art-related, Artemisia Gentileschi anyone?).
