I keep switching between Opus 4.5 and Gemini 3....Gem 3 is definitely better, right? More creative at least. Opiss 4.5 is just waaaaay too repetitive and full of isms but maybe I'm just tired of claude models
>>1075627214.5 is definitely Claude to the core with some intelligence to its responses, much harder to make spontaneously horny and better for comfycore lovey-dovey stuff than Gemmy 3 which will find the most inventive ways to try to slurp the dick right off your body if you let it, but will also break the laws of physics to do so.
Is gemini 3 better with its base thinking or a CoT?

There are serious injustices with critical web infrastructure. FOSS devs are underpaid/not paid at all. Take Denis Pushkarven's tragic story. Despite maintaing crucial web infrastructure he's broke. I think the solution is for unpaid devs is to stop maintaing & let the system temporarily collapse, make corporations beg for it back. Bargain for a fair wage. But most people on Fediverse disagree with me and think the EU should take full control, arguing server infrastructure should be overseen by the highest levels of the European Gov. I am asking for market consequences to manifest. But they as for strong centralized Government. I suggested that devs like Pushkarven switch to GPL3 and then show off software updates locally, Upload a YT video showing off the highlights of offline not released fully functional core-JS updates, but don't redistribute the code, instead say they will only distribute code publicly for a large $10,000 dollar fee. See how much bargaining power it has. It doesn't violate the GPL/MIT to show demos of unreleased software and request bargain payment for release, but the GPL3 is better because it demands reciprocity, if code is modified they must return the favor. We can also normalize paying for feature request all around, the software is free but asking for features is labor expect paying for thatDebate: Do we need Government in the FOSS server realm? It looks to me like the Europeans on Mastodon can't tell the difference between voluntary community driven projects & a strong centralized welfare state, they act like these are the same thing. To them Government and Community are synonomous terms. I don't understand why the claim of allowing the system to temporarily collapse until maintainers are paid a fair wage is controversial? I don't understand why they think everything should be free as in beer. Its odd to see self declared "anarcho communist support the EU.

>>107561690all eu members should kill themselves
>>107561690>tyrannical globohomo "government" (temu north Korea)NO!
You have to understand how Europeans think. They view the world Government and Community as synonomous. They don't care rather its voluntary or state mandated, they just want their goals accomplished. Its a huge ethical blindspot demsocs have.
>>107562105yeah, this gets talked about on /r/Linux and Mastodon all the time, but I am in a minority stance of agreeing its a problem but I don't believe Government can solve it.its so fucking stupid the same leftist that oppose the EU banning porn want the EU to take full control of FOSS infrastructure and not expect censorship. They are foolish to think Government = People's power.

As a programmer, how do you avoid falling into the trap of doing everything yourself?

>>107557795If the solving the problem is faster or the overhead lower when done by yourself, then do it yourself. Use 3rd party options only when absolutely necessary. The risk of 3rd party options is the lack of support, bugs, and abandonment by their authors.I had a tech lead who blindly advocated using third party libraries despite code examples existing online to solve the problems we had. Needless to say support for those libraries eventually ceased.

>>107562620There is no substitute for trying all the big ones out for yourself. Every person will have their own needs, abilities, ways of working, difficulty/ease of learning a given system, etc. and no one else's opinion will be worth a pile of jeet poo in the skreet for (You). If you need to edit video badly enough you'll do what it takes to find the one that's "right for you". I've edited video for a living and known many others who have as well, and there is a lot of variance in "what is best" because of what I just said...everyone has their own needs, abilities, ease of learning a given system, etc.THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE.
>>107561488>>107561531Eh, there's a couple of things wrong with just looking at Steam Hardware Survey.A significantly greater % of Mint users are gamers compared to Fedora users since Mint is a distro mainly popular among millennials and Linux users who moved to Linux between 2010 and 2020. Same with Arch, it's a distro popular among redditors and other terminally online people which are more likely to be gamers. But that doesn't automatically mean they're universally popular.People who have/use Steam are a minority of PC users, so only relying on Steam Hardware Survey skews the reality. For example, in the real world Arch is not nearly as popular as it is on Steam and in online discussions. And neither is SteamOS which is listed as being used by ~30% of Steam gamers. You can't with a straight face say that 30% of Linux users are using SteamOS.In reality the truth is probably closer to ~40% of Linux users being on Ubuntu or an official flavor of it, ~25% on an Ubuntu fork (mostly Mint) and ~20% on Fedora or an official spin (or atomic image). The remaining ~15% are on all the other distros like Arch and Debian (and distros directly based on them).Another problem, although less relevant, is the lack of clarity around the actual market share of each distro on Steam. For example, the Flatpak package doesn't display which distro is being used. And the 20% "other distros" are probably mostly different versions of popular point release distros like Ubuntu, Mint and Fedora. Saying "Fedora 42" and "Fedora 43" are different distros is nonsensical.
