>US chip giant Nvidia announced Thursday that it would build a planned “multibillion-shekel” research and development campus in the northern town of Kiryat Tivon, bringing thousands of jobs to a region outside Haifa with designs of creating a tech hub.

Israel wants to host tech that is integral to the rest of the world so other nations will be forced to protect it. They're using cooders as human shields basically while also hard coding backdoors into hardware. They've brought in Intel too.

running propriety code on your system makes you unsecure, if you can't see the code how can you know that they didn't slip in any malware. that's why floss (free libre open source software) will always be more secure then propriety software by default

10yrs ago even high end GPUs were sub-$1000 (1080ti launch price was $699 and this was already considered excessive), you'll just pay more and more for the same things that used to be cheap because you still NEED and want a gaming PC and you'll pay whatever they ask you for. It's part of the slow, managed collapse of western economies, where things that used to be common consumption become luxury goods.

This. I keep hearing normies saying AI is a bubble. It's the same as when normies called crypto a bubble back in 2021 when GPU prices were skyrocketing. Look at GPU prices now and it'll give you a hint at what RAM prices will be in 4 years.
>>
>>107716561
I hope it never does just so I can enjoy normies losing their shit over it on this board.

How do I get Nix actually working for my user on Guix? How much does it integrate? Can I manage packages from Nix with Guile?
There's no documentation outside: https://guix.gnu.org/manual/devel/en/html_node/Miscellaneous-Services.html#index-nix_002dservice_002dtype which gets me Nix installed system-wide.
I have no ~/.nix_profile or /run/.../nix.sh by default. Running any of the newer commands gets me "error: experimental Nix feature 'nix-command' is disabled; add '--extra-experimental-features nix-command' to enable it
" So I'd have to use nix-env or enable those. nix-env --switch-profile should generate some of those directorie but nix-env isn't really recommended to use for anything IIRC.

32GB RAM is pretty small for AI too. I would just temper my expectations then, video will be slow. there are some smaller video models that might do better though.

The steam frame is gonna cost like 700 dollars maybe more with the RAM issues going isn't it?

I'm still buying a Steam Frame because it's black
>>
>>107714145
pimax probably BUT if you don't have a 5090 / future PC, just stick to the steam frame.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTUHwUa2QeA
The reason why is because if you had a 5070 TI or something, it will run the pimax crystal perfectly fine.
BUT the steam frame should get even more FPS with foveated rendering + foveated streaming (the affordable pimax crystal 120hz does not have eye tracking, you need the pimax super which has the best resolution you can get, but it's 90hz DSR compressed 75hz if you want uncompressed).
super VR headset (unless you go for the cheap , but... that's assuming the steam frame is $1000~)
https://vr-compare.com/compare?h1=w8xCM-oPA&h2=6nd6PhR_A&h3=F206d3eAD
There is also a oled pimax, either the pimax dream air (and SE) or the classic version, but the pimax oled apparently has a hue to it and the dream strap isn't as comfy or something (I don't own it).
If you want something really bad but also cheap and not meta (meta headsets are fine honestly, it has games at least). You could go with the PSVR 2. It's actually awful compared to a quest 3 headset (Not the 3s, the psvr2 has a really tiny sweet spot and it makes quest displays look like OLED), but if you could find it for $100-200 used, it can't be that bad (it does need an adapter for PC).
If you want VR chat, the meta quest pro is the best option (it's discontinued, but it's still really good because it has eye and face tracking). BUT, I am a doomer and think the steam frame is $1500 (and the steam index will continue to be sold on the store for at least 3 more years). If I am wrong, and it's $1000 or less, it makes the quest pro look ~meh.
>>
>>107711131
>its worse than a quest 3 in every way
