It's really simple, they continuously recompress the old videos on their servers so they take less space.
Just take a 10yo video with less than 50k views and you'll see how bad they look.
>>

> google affords all their shit by pushing ads and mass data taps straight into the users' rectums

Partially true.
Google indeed has money because of their ads and selling your personal information, but from other services. That’s true indeed.

But Youtube itself is a massive money sink for them. The only reason they keep wasting so much money on it is to prevent YouTube from dying and letting another potentially more competent competitor from rising from its ashes. They need to keep it alive even if it’s a garbage service because if another company has the opportunity to offer a better and profitable public video streaming platform that same company could then expand into other niches and completely destroy google.
>>
>>107730264
10 year old videos were badly compressed to begin with retard
>>
>>107730666
Yeah, but they didn't look like they were with a 10b/s and with huge black borders around them.
Back in the day, those 360p videos looked great, not blocky and smeary.
>>
>>107730703
Yeah, because you watched them on a smaller screen and the video box itself on the page was also smaller. You stretch a 360p video to 27 inches and it's going to look bad no matter what.

remove the eFuse and bridge the pins. The drive is fine, it's only the eFuse that's burnt out, preventing the drive from being powered up. I have one of these and it's still under use after bridging the pins (up to 49000 hours and counting).

we most definitely don't have SMR drives.
>if you see crap like 34dBa idle noise on the datasheets, that's one of their known garbage drives, they will run at something like 70C under load unless you put active cooling on them (the problem being that they use these drives in externals with no cooling whatsoever).
I'll check on monday if we have any of these things, ty for the tip.

>one drive fails after a few hours of operation
I have a few 4-6TB ironwolf that have been running for 5 years without any issue, guess you weren't lucky.
>order one on amazon, arrives completely unprotected inside an huge empty box
This usually happen when you buy drives from a "bulk" ie how companies receive them, see pic I found on ebay, we receive them in this kind of box, the drives are usually inside an antistatic bag and this is what they ship to people, this is beyond disrespectful.
you can tell with the serial if the drive is from a bulk or not by typing it on seagate website, this usually have impact on how the warranty work (bulk drives usually don't have manufacturer warranty, this is a thing to be aware of)
I just received a 6TB wd red and it was packed inside a wd box for example with full wd warranty support

What is it about big O notation that is so hard to understand for people?
Despite being a fundamental concept in CS, so many CS graduates think they understand what big O means, but when they try to explain it they are completely wrong.
For example pic related, almost every statement in the "explanation" is incorrect.

>>in classifying functions we virtually always use the lowest relevant bound
>This is meaningless gibberish.
I.e. 2 points:
1) There does not exist such a thing as the lowest relevant bound.
2) Even if you reinterpret it to mean that we never want to say a function is bounded by some other function which is orders of magnitude faster growing, this is just wrong. Both in math and CS, functions are regularly called O(g) for some much faster growing g. That is, in fact, the whole point of big O, to be able to do that and simplify things in such a way, without keeping track of every precise function.
>>
>>107727943
Wrong.
>>107727965
>it's literally just a retard getting mad at everyone saying big O in place of saying computational time complexity, going on years.
That's not my issue. It's not about saying anything in place of anything, it's about not understanding what big O means. Big O has a clear and intuitive definition, yet most people who study it don't seem to grasp it and instead develop their own private nonsensical and wrong intuition about what big O means.
>>107727871
>you're just being pedantic
Wrong. I am pointing out a real issue and a very significant misunderstanding of big O notation among people who think they understand it. If you assume big O works like these people think, you would make critical errors in your proofs and your reasoning, leading to false conclusions.
>>107725351
There's nothing autistic about the definition. It's a simple definition that's intuitive and easy to understand if you try.
>vs retarded colloquial zoomer leetcoder big O usage
They use the same concept. It's not like there are 2 competing definitions going around of big O. They are just wrong and don't know what they're talking about.

Yeah, who could possibly care about the thing which makes practically all websites function? I get being an autist with niche interests, but fuck me, you people sure love acting like nobody else exists outside of your own autistic head.

You don't need a special snowflake browser to turn JavaScript off. But I get the feeling you don't actually do that anyway.
