I'm playing with openSD on an old low resource minitower (1gb RAM)
It's pretty barebones but surprisingly snappy.
xfce4 failed so I'll stick with fvwm for now but gimp3 ran fine and firefox is doing pretty well.
I'm still figuring how to use customisation files like .xsession but the man pages are more readable than I've found for linux.

I'll take any suggestions for what to look into to make it look better, is openbox any good?

oh so gimp does work
will have to look into that
also want to try a window manager
tried i3 but it was borked out of the box for me
and the default window manager wouldn't run ungoogled-chromium out of the box
also couldn't get ublock origin or ublock origin lite to work on ungoogled chromium
tried some online crx chrome extension converter for further workaround attempt but somehow the system crashed when it started to download the result
not so shrimple after all
neckbeard keeps growin tho
>>
>>107859548
I don't know if it'll help you, but I just came across this blog about how you can customise the base system window manager CWM to do pretty cool things.
https://antonyfb.com/blog/my-cwm-config.html

I'm still looking to get more aquanted with these systems but it seems pretty flexible so I want to try out what I can if it means my incredibly constrained system is usable.

Micron says quitting the DIY memory industry will actually "help consumers"
TREASON!
There were 3 DIY RAM MFGS, now there are only 2... and you can rest assured high prices shall ride higher. (This reminds me of when Cyrix folded, leaving AMD & Intel as the only 2 CPU makers.)
BRB buying Crucial RAM kits.
>"Micron has shifted its focus from consumer DRAM to providing memory to AI data centers, leaving SK Hynix and Samsung as main consumer DRAM manufacturers.
Micron says it still supplies LPDDR5 to PC makers and is in contact with every major PC brand.
DRAM prices continue to skyrocket, with the rampocalypse being expected to continue into 2027.
In late December, notable SSD and memory brand Micron announced that its Crucial brand would be leaving the consumer memory industry by the end of January as the company shifted its focus to supplying memory to far more lucrative tech giant AI data centers. Given this leaves SK hynix and Samsung as the two remaining consumer DRAM makers, this move is expected to make the ongoing memory shortage even worse."

>>
1.) Micron is still supplying all 3rd party RAM vendors
2.) They only killed off their own consumer brand Crucial
3.) They are increasing production eight fold this very year
4.) All big DRAM foundries are still producing RAM dies from the consumer market
5.) Killbait niggers deserve the rope
>>
>>107861301
how does this help me afford 32gb of ram without taking out a second mortgage?
>>
>>107861409
You could maybe put some blame on retailers and the island gook manufacturers.
OEMs are maybe paying 50% more for RAM meanwhile your precious DIY providers are raping you 4x

The lack of accountability and blame given to Taiwanese manufacturers are fucking astounding.

I feel it has good and bad points. There's no piss filter, and running the same prompt twice doesn't result in gens looking so samey, but the quality seems slighty worse, and it seems stricter (although, I guess that's more to do with filters, rather than the actual model).

I still feel it is the best when it comes to realistic looking gens, though.

>If everyone is in debt, who are they in debt to?
each other. but i mean the way i see it, the way debt works is
>governments sell bonds for $1k, 1k€ or whatever
>immediately blow that money on paying employees or something of the sort
>said employees put some of that money into the stock market
>stonks go UP
>government has no way to pay back that debt, except selling MORE bonds
>at the same time, many of the same employees, or other governments, or other people under said governments also trade those bonds for more stocks, because they are still valued like they are going to be paid back
>stonks go up even more
same happens to real estate, gold, silver and so on. more debt around the means more money on books, which means more asset inflation.

to answer the more important question, what happens when that debt is either repaid or defaulted on? assets rapidly deflate, retirees go in panic, capital owners (if they still hold political power) go goo goo gaga crazy, causing wide economic system shock and a whole lot of chaos
>>
>>107852956
Linux runs more Windows software than Windows
>>
>>107861263
>>107861370
also to clarify, if the US gov prints to pay off its debts (which it is already kinda doing), the stocks will continue to go up exponentially until something gives the public a reality check, like people realize a can of mountain dew appreciating faster than said stocks. that's when things will get retarded beyond the ability of the government to cook the books

why is having a worse and slower distro with a techlet aimed update model better than a bleeding edge one where all mistakes can be brainlessly fixed in less than 5 minutes?

so do you like call up another ISP and be like
>hey I got some fiber and some internet registrations, I want to connect to your thingie
and they're like ok NP it's free? o algo
>>
>>107859372
Some ISPs will peer with anyone else for free, for instance Unis often to this.
Those that don't can be handeled by transit services as I mentioned above, and transit services usually charge per MB of traffic.
Bassically these services set up network infrastructure in peering centres and make arangements with all the ISPs that are publicaly available, and the price they charge per MB is essentially dependant on what they're charging.
I explained this in short earlier here aswell.
