anyone else paranoid about the lifespan of their devices? everything breaks eventually but i think we're all worried tech will just continue to get more unaffordable (+ unreliable) over time, so we should all be hoarding the older long-lasting tech while they're cheap to maximize the lifetime of our devices.
thinking of building my first am5... but it seems wiser to spend that money on pcs like picrel.

what's the longest you've ever had tech last /g/? what was it? are you hoarding?

No it doesn't.
I have ThinkPad P50, and it struggles with anything "Modern" web that uses JS for everything (FB/IG,etc) and it's even worse since most of the new websites uses AV1 which can't be decoded with the GPU.
But everything else runs fine.
Heck Even my T60 can open this god forskaen website just fine and handle webms at low resolutions.

To name a few:

- ~2003: Some HP Pavillion with Pentium 4, 512MB RAM, and NoVideo FX
5200. It was my main desktop PC prior to 2010, collects dust since
then

- ~2006:

- Still regularly listening to music on Yamaha MCR-E810,
including its CD player, which delivers considerably better
sound quality than a regular PC for playback. I don't have

LLMs have no memory of why they did what they did. Asking them after the fact is pointless, they will just confidently hallucinate an answer.

Why is it that a Codex xhigh reviewer almost always finds a bunch of stuff, but the same Codex model can not implement it correctly in the first place? Sometimes I loop for hours trying to pass Codex' code review.
And it's somehow even worse for docs, Codex basically always says our docs are shit.
>>
>>108523203
Llms are not deterministic + They just want to make you happy.
So if you keep asking them to find problems in a thing, the way to make you happy is to find a problem, not tell you there isn't one.
Claude is the best about this, but right now, you need to know when you're done.
>>
Guys, AI is giving me anxiety.
It's gonna ruin the society for everybody and everybody is still going full speed ahead despite that.
I feel so powerless and depressed everyday now just thinking about it.
>>
So at work we use copilot, some pretty successfully. Curious what's the current tools to get into hobby vibe coding, build some web apps and tools for local use. Should I just go with cursor and try some free tier stuff first?
>>
>>108521606
Worrying development. This will only justify the use of AI to replace even more people.

I set customed Zeronet to pre download shit everywhere I went to try and make it faster using multiple portable instances. Its like downloading torrents for whatever is on the site. I was also dumb enough to move that zeronet project folder to my desktop, not knowing that onedrive was auto uploading everything. I got over 600 pings before I lost count and that ms account and the Proton VPN account were blocked
>>108523545
Not really outside of a few blogs and people asking why its a ghost town. its a shame it lost momentum. I made a new version with claude and there's a few places now where you can get auth keys if you want to setup a zite, but its basically over, and too conplicated for zoomies. Nothing is updated in the core outside what ive done myself since early 2021 I think
I was scared as fuck for months after getting a Ms email saying it was all going to NMEC or whatever that org is, but nothing happened.
Just have to hope not getting pinged again is enough and they have actual important shit to do, might just be in a lucky country

>LinkedIn Is Illegally Searching Your Computer

>Every time any of LinkedIn’s one billion users visits linkedin.com, hidden code searches their computer for installed software, collects the results, and transmits them to LinkedIn’s servers and to third-party companies including an American-Israeli cybersecurity firm.

This right? JS can’t search your computer. I suspect they meant the LinkedIn app on phones.
>>
>>108522816
it can, other than all of the information it already leaks, js is just not secure
jit inherently comes with unsafe assumptions

linkedin isnt going to use those actual exploits though, since it would get them in a lot of trouble very quickly

LOL good job retards. Meanwhile VVC is aborted in the womb in favor of AV1 because literally nobody trusts MPEG enough to make hardware decoders for it, or any of their new patented codecs for that matter. It's funny watching them pull desperate shit like this.
>>
>>108523259
I don't get it. Can't they just use x264/x265 to avoid the licensing fees? IIRC the patent fuckery only applies to H264/H265.

Yes, it is set as such. The whole thing worked after I moved the blob from /lib/firmware/intel/iwlwifi to /lib/firmware.
My actual embedded set is as follows
CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE="amd-ucode/microcode_amd_fam19h.bin rtl_nic/rtl8168h-2.fw amdgpu/beige_goby_ce.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_ta.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_rlc.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_sos.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_dmcub.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_smc.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_sdma.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_mec.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_mec2.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_pfp.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_vcn.bin amdgpu/beige_goby_me.bin intel/ibt-18-16-1.ddc  intel/ibt-18-16-1.sfi iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-46.ucode"

And the funny thing is the rest of the blobs are in their proper directories and stuff works for them.

>every other thing I want to install isn't actually available
Use a distro with more comprehensive repos, e.g. Debian or Ubuntu.
>or is severely outdated
For some things you might not need the very latest version. E.g. on Debian I have GIMP 3.0.4 installed from the distro repos, which is fine for me. If I absolutely wanted the latest version, I would install GIMP from Flathub or the Snap store (both on version 3.2.2). Remember that on Fedora, Debian, and Ubuntu, software does have security fixes backported. So even though I have a slightly older version of GIMP, it will still get security fixes for as long as Debian 13 is supported.
>I have to install binaries manually
I wouldn't recommend that, because then updating that software is a pain in the backside. Pretty much all software you could want should be available through package manager repos, e.g. your distro's repos, Flathub, the Snap store, Homebrew, etc.
