Not true, I don't even think FOSS is on their radar. Outside of servers and infrastructure no one in the professional world even thinks about FOSS. In fact based on Youtube comments I seen those sever sysadmin people refer to the Linux software community as hobbyist. so please don't spread disinfo

>>107743727>But how do you handle music? The same way you handle graphics and input and filesystem operations and literally anything else in programming: you find an API you want to use that works on the platforms you want to run, and use it. For every individual question like this you have to search it and do some research. In this day and age you can also ask LLMs for advice (don't use them to write code though, if it's for a learning project). If you really want a hint, look up SDL. It's one of many options for doing stuff but it's a relatively widely used one. What it does is abstract away some APIs for stuff like graphics, UI, platform-specific input management, sound etc. You can look up its APIs and use it.SDL itself just uses lower level APIs from various platforms. For graphics that would be OpenGL, DirectX, Vulcan. For sound I don't know off the top of my head but there's similar shit. And so on and so forth. You can use those directly. Or you can use another toolkit, or a variety of toolkits.
is it possible to learn electronics digitally, without hardware? are there any arduino emulators or something like that?
>>107744910>is it possible to learn electronics digitally, without hardware? are there any arduino emulators or something like that?I'm going to be a dick and say no.A large proportion on the code I've written for various controllers is there to deal with the vicissitudes of real world inputs.

LeCun fucking hates Zuck's gut huh?
>>107743505They should stop masturbating about stateless mathematical models (because both symbolic AI and neural networks are about logic and math not computing or programming) and start focusing on stateful programs that are actually agentic (in the original sense of the word not in the llm corrupted marketing sense) by having internal state, internal goals and a real model of the world (LeCun is right about this part), all of this not through mathematical models but through programming. If our current languages and databases are not enough then we should make progress there, for example by researching graph databases and new languages that make expressing complex and dynamic rules about the real world possible. But corpos only want to sell their datacenter services, to them its a feature how inefficient LLMs are, and most researchers are not programmers they are stuck in their bubble of academia writing their papers in their ivory towers.
>>107743634This guy's proposed alternative to neural nets is better programming languages and databases.Absolutely fucking kek.
>>107743670The connectionist idea that the brain is an input/output stateless machine is ridiculous and an insult to life.Yes, the road to intelligence goes through stateful programming not through stateless mathematical models. And yes, computer science has barely advanced at all in the last 40 years, but that's because all the resources are used on bullshit corporate or academic shit that is not even meant to advance it.
>>107743698Apparently, actually most advanced (human like AI) Neurosama was coded in python and it didn't learn from LLMs, but from twitch chats only. Basically mogging all "AIs" while being made from scratch. It's not the same kind of "AI" but looks more like intelligence than the other ones.
>>107743634Neuromorphic models work a lot better. They use local state and local mutation only, which lets them do tricks like learning things in real time. So far, they've mostly been used to study how human senses work and integrate with the brain, rather than shooting for intelligence (because understanding sensing is more immediately useful). They're an absolute bitch to implement in normal hardware though, due to the comms bandwidth required, and GPUs are no use at all for them (it's just a different architectural model).

To suck the teat of "gently" used enterprise gear requiring using eBay and being in the US. Then there is the fear of getting "used" hardware and the fear of dealing with ebay sellers, etc

Anybody here try/use Bedrock linux?I've been on Manjaro for a while, but I'm getting the itch to switch distros.Debian's not at the top of my list, but I'd consider it. I refuse to ever use Ubuntu again. (There was some unpleasantness back around '08 and I refuse to ever give them another second of my time.) Nothing really against Mint. I've used it before, though, and it keeps me in the Debian branch, which I'm not very used to. CachyOS is, I guess, catching on for some reason. It's another Arch derivative. Can't be worse than Manjaro. And I'm somewhat used to the Arch ecosystem. But this Bedrock thing seems like a bit of a winner. Doesn't pin you down into any one branch. Plus, as I understand it, I can just install it over top of my existing install, instead of starting over from square one.Anyhoo, just wanted to know if anyone here has experience with it and would/wouldn't recommend giving it a try.>inb4 gentooNo.>inb4 just use ArchThen I might as well stay where I'm at, which I don't want to do.
