My HD598s are getting old, what's my best bet for open planars in the €500-800 range in Europe? Saw the Fiio FT7s, but the shitty plastic adjustment thingy immediately turned me off those, if I'm paying that kind of money at the very least don't use cheap plastic shit.

I was more asking about OS's in general. Windows and macos included. If a dev can host a installer i don't see why a repo would be any harder. They could save the effort on the update process and still have everything start nicely in the browser like with flathub.

After a couple of years using linux i just don't get any other way. Yes there is winget now but why doesn't anyone use it? The apple people are a little better in that regard but its 100% package manager like here still.

the cmf buds 2 have some annoying quirks:
- the eartips are not round but sorta elliptical. you can't really use aftermarket ones since they don't fit the "stem" well. you can force them on but then the buds don't fit in the charging case...
- the controls are garbage if your hand is wet/sweaty. they rarely register commands and you end up just switching the anc mode on/off. makes it almost useless for working out which is a big minus for me
- speaking of controls: they way you customize them is incredibly stupidly designed. for example, volume control can ONLY be assigned to tap+hold. you can't bind it to double tap or anything else. either tap+hold or disabled completely. and most of the functions are like that. and while i understand why there is no single tap control at all, i still would like to have the option.
- there is an option to make the buds pause playback when you take one bud out of your ear. and while you can disable that function you can NOT disable the beep that the bud makes when you trigger it, so it still does beep every time you take it out your ear. very annoying
- on a positive note - the buds have different sound alerts for triggering different functions so you can always tell if something got turned on by mistake
- you don't get a charging cable in the box. thankfully the charging port is usb-c
