JPEG-XL is finally getting back into Chromium. How excited are you?
>>107617027https://files.catbox.moe/z7r2p6.DNGi guess it saves .DNG files and uses jpeg xl compression internally. idk, never played around with raw before
>>107617040Not the same quality, looks better, and we have HDDs on TB's nowadays, it's only thurdies who cares for filesizes.
>>107618094I see, they're just using jxl for RAWs. The Live pictures are still a heic+hevc combination

>"Vivaldi says their roadmap to 2026 it is not AI"What is the deal with the Anti-AI derangement syndrome? I don't like to judge people, but the anti-AI seem to include an evenly distribution of furries, twitter "artists", people with funny hair color, and a poor understanding of economy.
>>107616119>Anti-AI derangement syndromeNo, it's just that now they know that the rest of humanity (minus the tech-retard-bros) hate "AI" not because it's "AI" but simply because it's bad and/or ugly and/or useless.
AI is great in many fields. What I don't want is ending up with agentic browsers that feed me info instead of letting me find shit on my own and agentic operating systems that do everything for you and will prevent future generations from learning and exploring. This will absolutely kill computing the way the last few generations knew, it will kill the internet as we know it and it will kill stuff like emulation and tinkering among others.
>>107616119>dude we are like, so anti AI>uses chromium which literally has AI embedded into itAlright

Every internet argument ends up with Blue Chuds vs Red Chuds.AI vs No-AI is the latest Current Thing (tm).

AI will solve all your problems because you won't be alive by the time it's able to.

The game is over, as I am fond of saying. The women won. They are in control of the eugenics program and the multi-trillion-dollar pussy reward system — a highly symbolic fertility ritual. But they are in control of much more than the reproductive apparatus. They control not only the men and government of the United States of America but through the power of pussy and the susceptibility of men and government officials, fiat currency manipulation by the Witches of Fiat Currency at the Federal Reserve System, a large army of simps and "backers" (this is a technically incorrect use of the term) who are fighting to maintain control of the Frankenstein monster they created called Onlyfans (in a war I fear we are going to lose), and even the Republican form of government they created which inevitably—and I would argue by design—fosters centralized female matrilineal control and assures only a handful of "pre-selected" men must be sacralized to control an entire country, they control the entire world.

Why are so many people going back to windows 7 and XP?
Going from ubuntu to win 7 I can safely say I never looked back
>>107620949Yes, exactly. I do consulting, and it's astonishing the number of old machines I see around. Non tech savvy people don't really care about upgrades. If they bought a machine back in 2010 and it's still working, they see no reason to upgrade it to a newer version, especially if it disrupts their user experience.

Thinking of doing an 8 drive RAIDZ2, but not with a high end motherboard. But with a motherboard with just 4 sata, and just add 4 more sata with one of these. But AI said this is cheap, which is bad, and I should buy server grade stuff instead.
I'm using BTRFS for my file server and in certain directies writing data to it is very very slow like the kb range not even 1mb, while in the others I get 100-150mb/s+
>>107620567some mobo layouts have sata/chipset lanes become shared or disabled when other shit becomes occupied, so I personally wouldn't mix from 2 sources inc. onboard/chipsetif your mobo has enough full or "open" slots that can accommodate x8 or full cards on fractional lanes, LSI -8i cards and (sata) breakout cables should be something like 40-50USD total

>>107614284>Detroit: Become HumanYou'll need a dGpu (or eGpu if you want to deal with it) for that. You might want to reconsider if it's actually worth getting a laptop with such a beefy card of just getting a cheap laptop alongside a cheap desktop. You would probably have to go for something like a p53 with a quadro rtx 3000 or better to be able to play it at a stable 60fps on 1080p low. And you can forget about such frames on 1440p.If you do decide to go for it, consider the following thinkpads: P53, P73, P15/P17/T15P gen 1/2 (or even newer). Dell precision and HP zbook are also options. Or just get a gaming laptop, I have no clue what to look for there though.
>>107616669>Try to get one with the touchscreen. Since the touchscreen models have the best screens as far as nit/resolution/color is concerned.Wouldn't that kind of go against his goal of having a laptop whose battery will last as long as possible? It's generally recommended to get the lpips (low power) innolux panel instead for both battery life and decent nit/colours.>You want the real ethernet port as well because it makes it much easier to debug shit and install an OS. True, but usb c to ethernet adaptors exist for cheap.>You also want the Intel wifi chip instead of the other kind I can't remember the vendor of which has worse support on POSIX OSs.It was either realtek or mediatek or both. Intels AX210 is worth getting (for $10-15) to replace them with.
