I mean, I think there are some clear biases when it comes to AI, people who think it's going to end the world, people thinking it's going to take their jewbs or that it's literally mechaHitler. But we also know that the amount of risks have quadrupled, people using it recklessly and all.But in your perception, will AI be gone in a few years? Or it's just a biased cope
a lot of companies will go under, since they're not even close to making a profit. But some form of AI will remain. I assume every tier of service will require a subscription however
AI is a passing fad for normies and single users, for businesses however you wont have a choice
>>107645769It's genuinely dot com 2.0. Yeah, those guys back then were right that the internet was the future, but they hadn't quite wrapped their heads around ~how~ yet. Most of those dot com era companies are dust now, but the internet is bigger than ever. All this bullshit will be the same. We're going to have global AI palantir control grid precrime bullshit before we have robotic assistants though.oh and when we finally get robotic assistants they'll be subscription only and they'll spy on you
>>107645769I've seen normies call out people using chatgpt to format text. Fatigue is already setting in.
why are so many programming "help" groups like this? like, somebody will specifically opt into helping people, and then get frustrated when they dont do exactly what they expect. it constantly feels like im testing everyone's patience whenever i ask for help and its even harder trying to just learn everything myself, especially considering all the weird semantic differences in both the language itself and guides.like i can imagine a full script in my head but i wouldnt know how to translate it into the language im currently using. and on the offchance that i *do* get the help needed, usually its just "oh just use the blah function", so its not like i just Dont Know How To Code or anything i just dont know the shit thats specific to the engine, and its not like i can just look it up in a glossary or something because the words can be totally different from language to language, like how "object" in one language can be "entity" in another, and object in *that* language refers to an object in an array or something, so theres just a huge language gap that i cant really cross without the help of others, which sucks because working with others sucks
>>107640271I recently joined a C++ help group and while a bit particular about stuff, the help I got was great because they spoonfed me a bunch of C++ concepts, more each time I produced real examples of what I was trying to do.Loved it honestly, I'll go back in a jiffy when I program in C++ again.
>>107640271The question answerer has an XY problem. They want to control the other person, but that's the asker's role.
>>107640808>paid money to be told to do it yourselfCollege is legit a scam. A couple months studying by yourself in a free library is worth more than years of shitty power point presentations and tens of thousands of dollars. It's only when you get to the top of the advanced classes which have special or difficult knowledge that it makes sense to have classes.
>>107640271Because everyone is retardedWhen teaching properly, exploring alternatives and the implications of things can help a lot with understanding. By learning about method B and then learning why it's not a good idea, you would understand for yourself why method A is better and actually comprehend what you're doing and why. However having deep knowledge of a topic is no guarantee at all that you are also a good teacher on that topic (or in general), and a lot of people hanging out in help groups are self-important retards who have a lot of knowledge but not necessarily pedagogical skills. But also conversely, a lot of people asking for help are retards who do not actually understand what they're working on and may not even want to understand it, and method B is maybe the one thing that they happen to have seen before so they cling to it for dear life because the unknown method A is scary, or they copied method B from somewhere else and don't know how either of those things work so they want to stick with what they have because they wouldn't even know where to start in rewriting it with method A, for example. So also a lot of people giving help have much lowered patience for retards like this and if you're genuinely trying to understand the topic and explore how things work you risk getting lumped in with the pajeets insisting that their copy-paste from chatgpt is what they want fixed and they do not want to do things differently no matter what.
>>107640805>"i program in a style very unique to myself and it throws people off"This is an actual problem btw, because programming often requires collaboration and you're basically building a barrier between yourself and everyone else. If you just want to only ever write code alone like a hermit that's fine, but clearly it's already annoying you because it's hampering your ability to ask for and receive help effectively.Understanding the "normal" style and being able to use it, and using it when trying to communicate code with other people, is much easier for everyone and something you should consider putting some actual effort into, unless you're absolutely happy with everyone always finding your code weird.

I once tried to learn C++ but so many things just sucked:The syntax, headder files, 1000 ways to do the same thing, the ((meta-)meta-) "build" system(s) and overall the feeling of the language:It is like someone had continuously updated his hobby project without concerning other users.I want to learn a modern language instead and chose Zig out of Rust or Zig as Rust seemed gay-coded to me.Is it a good decision to learn Zig? Will Zig stay?
>>107645788It's a fucking programming language. Once you learn one it's really fucking easy to switch to another so you're never wasting your time. Zig is dogshit imo because its build system is as complex as tard wrangling gcc or clang and it's syntax is as ugly and messy as Rust/C++'s. It's the worst of both worlds. Odin is the only modern systems language that has clean syntax and a braindead easy build system but it's a meme lang, like Zig, but unlike zig it is only used by indie game devs meaning it's probably already dead. If you want a systems language that will be around in 10 years time your only legitimate options are C and regrettably Rust.
>>107645788Zig is a conceptually poor language and Zig vs Rust vs C is a false dichotomy. Both languages are build over the foundation of C.
>>107645921I have heard that Zig has growing adoption in new languages. I is also compatible with C/C++ so if it is true what you have said, that it is not hard to learn a new language and Zig has benefits over C/C++ but is also able to maintain projects written in C/C++ it should be growing?
>>107645966>I is also compatible with C/C++No they removed that. Also, the zig compiler has never successfully built the full version of itself. It can still only be bootstrapped.
for low level languages, you benefit heavily by being (very) familiar with C semantics. This applies doubly so for meme languages because you will eventually want to interface with C libraries due to sheer volumeknowing about some of c++'s warts also helps, because features are often motivated by what went wrong in c++
