>Emacs Lisp Elements version 2.0.0

This is a major rewrite of the book. It has almost doubled in word count. I explain more concepts and do it from the ground up. Every single one of the original chapters is redone. They now contain insights into functionality they would previously hint at, such as how apply works in practice, what a non-local exit is, and how recursive editing is done.

I have also added several new chapters. As before, chapters have cross references, so you will benefit from revisiting relevant topics.

No, I'm trying to compare the compression efficiency of the lossless RGB file here >>107594125

To GIF and animated AVIF because the assumption is the latter will be like 80-90% more efficient but comparing objective quality is very hard because I just realized VMAF doesn't work with RGB...

Fuck, so I guess I have to convert that AVIF back to a lossless RGB VP9 webm and do a proper SS1 comparison with that...

back in the day waterfox was 64bit firefox, so it had serious benefits
nowadays it's just a simple fork, it changes default settings to remove all the bad "mozillaisms", from things like AI sloppa (except where it makes sense, the translate page local ML is still enabled because it's actually nice) to Pocket, Chat, etc. also removes all telemetry. it also changes the style back a little bit, to still having tabs, and includes treestyletab (though, honestly just use sidebery instead), and includes container tabs by default (normally you need to install a noop extension to enable the feature)
i like it because for me it's nigh zero-setup to something i'm happy using, but honestly it's nothing special and you can just as well use bare firefox and tweak it yourself
>>
Any thoughts on Floorp?

tell them to bring back pre memory leak FF (would just run just fine in a system with 8 gb of ram) and I might consider
>>
>>107590755
Yeah, there's basically no major difference between it and Firefox outside of some about:config changes and a few more options in the privacy settings, so I'd argue it's pretty much the most straight forward switch if all you want is "Firefox without Firefox's bullshit"

The problem with NBP is that if you do something like "semi-realistic anime style influenced by X artist", it brings its default, generic, style in the mix. And that (subjectively) sucks. Where it works well is imitating specific anime/manga styles. Maybe one should experiment with mixing specific anime/manga artists and specific historical art styles/movements.

no, they just made it for fun as an hobby project, just for the hell of it, and we like to mention it for funzies.
seriously, I don't understand why people even ask these dumbass questions, it's bait, right?
>>
>>107590972
Yes, there is a real difference, you can see it when looking at a spectrogram. Lossy compression removes information deemed unimportant for the application.
Does that difference matter though? Can you hear it? Will you care? The answer is probably no.
>>
>>107590972
Lossless obviously means variable bitrate, sounds the same as the original. 320 is constant, which means variable quality. Sometimes the difference is noticeable, sometimes maybe not, in my experience.

>>
They used a really weird courier for one of my orders. I looked it up and it's some fly by night outfit run by Africans. The news did story on it. Their "warehouse" are run down old commercial spaces they rent and dump shit everywhere. Like torn deformed old boxes with the signature aliexpress grey-bagged packages spilling out everywhere. A shitty little desk in the middle of all of it with a woman sitting there. Looking up the comments online are really bad. Most courier services will inevitably have bad comments but this is worse. Just pages and pages of comments saying it's horrible. The tracking for mine so far is following what the comments have said. It's inaccurate. It doesn't make sense to begin with. It scanned out for delivery but it never arrives. Maybe a couple of guys will roll up one day and drop it off. At least that's what the comments say. This makes me miss the Indian couriers.

I don't want them to have my data. Who knows what they would do with it. Maybe they would try to hack into my online banking account.
>If you live in the west you should be more worried about the local data collection companies and local governments.
The way I see it, some countries in the world are more democratic, and others are more autocratic/tyrannical. The latter are less likely to care about things like human rights laws, or laws in general. So I trust the former more. I guess for me it's a lesser-of-two-evils question. But yes, excessive data collection by companies or any government is something you should watch out for, no matter which country it is.
