It's over. We will never have cheap inference. Nobody will ever be able to escape the Nvidia tax.
that's wrong, read groq's press release> Today, Groq announced that it has entered into a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Nvidia for Groq’s inference technology. The agreement reflects a shared focus on expanding access to high-performance, low cost inference.> As part of this agreement, Jonathan Ross, Groq’s Founder, Sunny Madra, Groq’s President, and other members of the Groq team will join Nvidia to help advance and scale the licensed technology.> Groq will continue to operate as an independent company with Simon Edwards stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Some femboy anon posted a thread here last night talking about how tired he was of using windows 11 and linux mint wasnt working for him so he ended up swapping to windows 7.I didn't get to ask all the questions I wanted cause he disappeared and then the thread got deleted so I'll ask them here.1. I only have one of those shitty external optical drives since pc company's stopped being cool and removed them, that should work fine if i have the windows 7 ultimate dvd?2.When updating drivers they all say they wont be compatible, will it just be fine to download them and use them? if not where do I go for stuff like nvidia, amd, and other drivers I need?3. apps like steam and others that say they don't work on windows 7, how do I get them to work? i'm a bit confused on everything.I probably have a few more questions but I can't think of them right now and I have to get to work so I'll only be able to check this thread every now and then, thanks for any of the help

>>107655688>3rd party Steam "fork"That's not a thing. People just use an old version of steam or a the newest version with compatibility layer (open source if you want to check for botnets).> BUT you will have to rely on a lot of 3rd party "forks" of things of which you will have zero clue how secure they areFor someone who (presumably) wants people to switch to Linux, you're awfully hostile to the stated purpose of libre software.

Do any of you know perl, and know it by heart? Supposedly PHP i supposed to be for noobs and perl is the patricians choice, but I don't know how many people even still know perl.

>>107658355I was going to tell you you're wrong and the P stands for PHP only, but apparently the Perl/Python part was discussed as early as 2011 https://stackoverflow.com/q/6446385The people in that thread also mention that PHP was the original P in LAMP stack. It probably has even earlier references of course, but I'm not bothering to look any further.

>>107658546>>107658355I'm older than you newfags, the P was always stood for PHPback then there was also windows version of LAMP called XAMPP, when you google it, the results were always P stands for PHP

why are so many programming "help" groups like this? like, somebody will specifically opt into helping people, and then get frustrated when they dont do exactly what they expect. it constantly feels like im testing everyone's patience whenever i ask for help and its even harder trying to just learn everything myself, especially considering all the weird semantic differences in both the language itself and guides.like i can imagine a full script in my head but i wouldnt know how to translate it into the language im currently using. and on the offchance that i *do* get the help needed, usually its just "oh just use the blah function", so its not like i just Dont Know How To Code or anything i just dont know the shit thats specific to the engine, and its not like i can just look it up in a glossary or something because the words can be totally different from language to language, like how "object" in one language can be "entity" in another, and object in *that* language refers to an object in an array or something, so theres just a huge language gap that i cant really cross without the help of others, which sucks because working with others sucks
>>107640271if you were smart enough to figure out things on your own then you wouldnt be asking for helpergo listen to what you're told instead of being """"creative"""""
>>107654160I ask that bc I want to learn the language / system and got stuck without a clue on how to proceed, and because I don't want my homework done for me. I only learn by really grokking the most retarded-seeming details of the language, not by adopting "design patterns" or "best practices", which is purely about aesthetics and preventing feuds between codemonkeys.
>>107640319Tl;dr do the needful, benchod.
>>107640705I have to draw a line between smart and true genius, there just isn't a safe place to draw it. Emotions are going to affect perception, which will easily produce an effect where the kind and patient person seems more wise. Real genius (like yours) will tend to grow in a way which does value intelligence, except over time the capacity for recognizing how different a level of reasoning they enjoy actually is from everyone else makes continued tolerance difficult. You are right, true wisdom is necessary to value mentorship and advanced teaching.
>>107640271Because 99% of people who comment on these "support" forums don't know shit themselves. If they don't know the answer to your question they feel stupid and they hate that, so they will chime in even if clueless just to numb the feeling of being stupid. I used to waste time on these forums and subreddits until I got very proficient in a certain thing and realized almost every answer is retarded and nobody knows what they're talking about.

>>107655793OK, you are better than me.
Bought a ironwolf nas before they sold out, gonna get as much kino as possible. Fuck everyone.
I have always downloaded music, movies and tv-series and saved them on HDD's.But i also ripped my CD collection back in the early 2000'sMusic is strictly kept in .mp3. If possible i go for 320kbps.Regarding music files, i haven't downloaded for the last 20years or so. I currently have like 120 GB of music.Mostly stuff i listened to in the nineties and eighties.TV series are strictly kept in .mkv format and i go for 1080p. If not available, i chose 720p or SD quality if it's a real classic worth keeping.I am currently on about 160 TB of tv-series. So it's a well sorted collection.I never had any streaming subs in my life. The only thing i have (but lost the login credentials to) is a lifetime premium account for Spotify, since i partook in their beta programme, but never used it after the beta phase were closed and Spotify hit the market.
I wish the doujin music sharing scene were through bittorrent or at least slsk.
