Why is everything in this language so fucking ugly unless its just C with classes?

I see C++ nerds even crying that people shouldnt use it with that idea in mind and the CPP people try to push these retarded new concepts that make the language even more ugly and awful to read.

This fact is the only reason why I like Rust. Rust literally cannot be ugly. It might be verbose, bloated, but CPP is that and just fucking ugly.

Everyone just slapped random new features to it for 40 years without any comprehensive goal or thinking. Yeah it's a mess. Mostly I use C# because its ten times more productive but if I have to do any low level or performance critical stuff C++ is still the least bad option.

because c++ is just a dumping ground for retards to add as many useless "features" as they can think of. and then they insist on keeping backwards compatibility with C, so everything has to have weird syntax and all the names of everything get prefixed with underscores and shit
>>
>>106933508
For me it's C with initialization lists and not having to type struct everywhere.

Use case?
From what I can gather, it's a fork of a fork. Cryengine -> Lumberyard -> O3DE. It's not clear what was added/removed at each step. I assume O3DE is cut down from Lumberyard, otherwise they wouldn't have changed the name.
It's monstrously big, 40GB SDK plus
https://nibblestew.blogspot.com/2021/07/a-quick-look-at-o3de-game-engine-and.html
>The build system consists of 56 thousand lines of CMake
It's on roughly the same scale as Unreal or Unity but without the commercial support you can get from those. Not something that would be attractive to a solo or indie dev. At best it might be attractive to a medium-size team who wants to build and support their own engine but doesn't want to start from scratch?
>>
>>106934038
Yeah, no idea who would use this engine
>>
>>106934038

I think they marketed it for AAA development early on. I believe they wanted to be the AAA equivalent to Godot, which is targeted more toward indie games.

I think governments are realizing the internet isn't special. When they impose new laws governing the internet like this, the activists and tech companies cry about it but ultimately fall in line.
In the future, Western countries and possibly even US states will deploy sovereign firewalls, unlike China's it will be default-deny instead of default-allow and harder to bypass. This will be pitched as a common sense measure. We default-deny foreign people and goods crossing our borders, after all. Generally they're allowed in if they aren't on a list and do the paperwork to self-certify that they're not bringing anything illegal, but penalties are severe if they're caught lying. Why are hackers, scammers, and political propagandists allowed to harm us with unlimited impunity from beyond our borders?
The solution would be to require the same sort of self-certification online. Internet infrastructure providers and social media sites will be required to keep their customers' IDs on file (or perhaps on a blockchain if it's a Republican administration that passes this in the US) and collect self-certification of their compliance with local laws before they can be unblocked in a given country. It will not be very disruptive for most people, and technology can be used to make it effortless. For example, X could use AI to flag posts that look like they're insulting trannies and make them invisible in the UK.

Nice but I recommend next time you to do work like this, invest in a dremel tool, kit then polish up the modification. If there are blemishes, color in blemishes with a stencil and marker, doesn't have to match color, could be white, orange, yellow.

>>
>>106935247
Basically that says to copy all subdirectories, don't bother retrying if a copy fails, don't wait at all between failures, copy data, attributes and timestaps (and same with directories) and use 16 CPU threads to make the copying faster.
>>
>>106935049
Yeah, funny thing, I had a 500GB drive that it came with, but I disposed of it, along with some other old drives, thinking "I'll never need these anymore! :D". I don't believe the problem is the SSD itself, it's either the DVD I burned, which the disc drive is not initializing, or something in the BIOS config I'm overlooking, preventing me from progressing further on the USB stick. Aside from swapping and re-seating the GPU, everything is working, somewhat.

I've loved my Surface Pro 7 but I've been sperging out over the fact that it doesn't work well enough on Linux. It's a super convenient device besides the fact that it runs Windows so it sounds like a wind turbine even when it's idle sometimes. I don't know if it's just mine but the noises from the fan sound terrible, that's the worst thing about it for me. But for the five years I've had it there's been no issues, except for near launch when there was a problem with the drivers for the wireless receivers. I don't know if there are any better alternatives. Being able to use a pen while still having the keyboard open is a niche use case I need in every laptop going forward, I need all my laptops to have stands now.
>>
>>106933200
I still use a 1st gen surface pro from 2013 or whenever it came out. Still works pretty well. Got it for like $100 used like 5 years ago. Wish I hadn't of bought it honestly because the type cover stopped working and replacements are nearly x2 what I paid for the entire thing. You can't replace the battery easily, the charger is some proprietary shit, etc. You're probably not thinking about buying an old PoS like that though.
