I see a lot of talk on the internet about ditching disposable batteries for Ni-MH batteries. AA and AAA. But the one time I tried an Ni-MH battery in my kitchen wall clock, towards the end it started to slow down. I didn't notice it at first of course and was late for work twice. One I realized, I kept the battery in and monitored it. It was losing about 10-15 minutes a day. But at a glance seemed fine. Whereas with alkaline batteries, they kept time right until the very end, then stopped abruptly.Since then I've only used my Ni-MH batteries in digital things. Digital weighing scales, digital thermomenters, wireless keyboards and mice, remote controls etc. For everything mechanical I still use alkalines. Mechanical clocks, portable blood pressure monitor.I read it's something about voltages differences, so that might explain why the Ni-MH wasn't able to keep time towards the end, wasn't able to supply enough power but was able to supply some. However I still see lot of people on reddit, other various electronics boomer enthusiast forums, and of course /g/, who swear by going completely Ni-MH. So I don't get it? Are Ni-MH fine in your mechanical clocks? Is there just something wrong with my cells (or clock)?

I do this thing where I bring up codewars and then I have Grok help me come up with the solutions so I can learn new stuff. Grok goes awry if you have a thread that goes on for too long. I get it to solve a problem, but it creates a new problem, and then when it solves that problem it reverts the previous solution we had so the original problem is recreated. It starts going in circles. It seems to totally forget what we talked about earlier or it forms too many branches and then it get jumbled up and you realize its not a miracle, its a reddit scraper stringing words together. I'm starting to realize the Gartner curve is a thing. And I blew 30 dollars on this thing (SuperGrok 4 heavy)
I think the main use for it is writing emails, that's the only thing it can do reliably without supervision.
it works pretty well when you lay the fundations yourself and then just ask for some little things you need without providing the whole codebase. In my experience when it can't build the whole thing from scratch it won't do it even after long debugging sessions

>>106466960in my experience its pretty badi never used a paid version, but it shouldnt change much, only that the ai can handle more codefrom what i gather theres two problems that are connected plus a third one, separatetheres the context size- how much data can be "in focus" at onceand that appears to be a problem at around 300 lines of code in c.beyond that the ai seems to forget parts of the code, or parts of the "assignment"the second one is the attention problem. because the ai cannot keep all the code "in focus", it resorts to deciding which parts of the code are relevant, and which are not. and it doesnt get it right.whenever your code will have side effects, expect the ai to breakalso always pay attention to your code, the ai wont know whats relevant and whats not.for example: ai would have gotten me banned from facebook's api on day one if i were vibecodingand finally theres the data problem.Comment too long. It's not just phoneposters. Inevitably, as something gets more popular for absolutely any reason, average IQ of a group approaches closer to population average. The trend for average programmer IQ is as follows: in the 90-s it was above 120. Before 2015 it was already below 120. And in the year of 2025, financial incentive has dropped average IQ of a programmer to 105. As industry has turned hopelessly hypersocial, it will only get worse. You are arguing with literal midwits here, reading their 105 opinions, losing braincells.Avoid using any new "technology" unless you are looking for exploits, hacker golden age hasn't even began.Rolling release distros, MacOs, Windows are all a 105 technology brought to you by Reddit.Rust and Go are coping mechanisms with 105 special needs, just like rounded corners on a smartphone that prevent retards from killing themselves accidentally when they answer a phone call. There is no way of fixing it without active intervention, raise in IQ with access to a smartphone actually concerns the bottomless pit of total retards, you have to reason about a smartphone as a diabolical box which shows you shiny things and you can somehow change the things inside it by just touching the box. This requires abstract reasoning, so the population average gets a bit higher. It's over, leave tech communities if you value last bits of intelligence you don't have completely fried by politics and objectively retarded arguments, and just use rss feeds at this point and read some retarded 120 iq papers which walk back and forth around a solution and produce massive piles of text, this might cheer you up.
