READ THE (temp)WIKI! & help by contributing:
https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/Home_server

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

Not true. the chips use less power, but the motherboards are all chinkshit jbod frankenmess shit and they typically idle in the 20w range while doing nothing. C3 states are the BEST they can do.

Meanwhile pic related can idle sub 4w because HP's suppliers actually talk to each other and can achieve c3+ power states AND have expandable (low profile) PCI slots which none of the n100's have.

Pop in a x710-da2 card and you have a 10 gig network firewall appliance that is cool, efficient and comfy.

OR get one of the m920q with PCI riser cards and get similar results. My server rack has no lack for space so I prefer bigger SFF factors.

Is there any way to permanently nuke intel boot agent (Press CTRL+S to enter setup) shit on Intel X520 and X550 series NICs?
Every time I turn it off it inevitably comes back and when you have 8 NICs all individually going through that whole shebang that takes about three times as long just by itself as the entire pre-boot, BMC initialization, RAM training and OS boot sequence does and at this point I don't give a shit if I have to hack the drivers if need be just to get rid of this.
I vaguely remember nuking this shit off an X550 years ago with some intel tool but I can't find it again so it might have been some Russian skiddie tool and I'm misremembering it as being an official tool.

>If it's not 100pct roleplay or fiction writing I'd be surprized.
Well, it's definitely not any of those two. I use it for a lot of stuff. The AI that performs the best in all my tasks is Grok. It just excels in everything I try to make it do. Since I don't pay for Grok, It has many restrictions. So I basically used Deepseek and Grok when Deepseek fails. But after the update it become so much worse that I'm actually considering paying for Grok, as disgusting as paying for AI sounds.

make courses on how to get rich with AI and sell it to gullible people
>>
>>106495270
all money made online is a grind, the ai can help the grind. but its still a grind. always will be. good thing is, if u grind hard on something, after its complete, u can continue to sell it for years and years, so thats a plus. still a grind to sell it however.
the reason people even bother in the first place, is because i can sit on my ass and do it, no commute, no boss. basically you have to think about it the boring way that it is. because jobs are boring, thats why they give u money to do it!!!!!!!!!!

oh also a benefit is that when you get money, its easy to make money via arbitrage marketing with the principle being very simple:
>spend less on ads than you make from people clicking them and buying
>compounds
>compounds
>compounds
>compounds

This board's image gen generals exist in a bubble.
Go around literally any board except /g/, 99% of images posted are drawn, not generated.
Go to Twitter, most art posted is not generated. People are going through extreme hoops in boorus and pixiv to filter AI, nobody is asking for it, it's generated into the void.
AI art has kinda stagnated mid-2024, like a solution to a problem that does not exist.

Don't ask /g/, they don't draw and is obsessed with AI. I don't own a screen tablet, maybe in the future. I heard that you have to deal stuff with parallax and calibration when owning one.

Just a FYI, Xencelabs is owned by XP-Pen. Both XP-Pen and Huion can be hit or miss in terms of build quality such as wobble, pointer lag etc. My main gripe with them is that their IAF can be too high (the pressure needed for the pen to register). Wacom have really low IAF like 1g? Which really makes a difference when I'm doing light sketching, it doesn't bother some people though. I think Huion is catching up with 2g IAF pen tech but that's only compatible for screen tablets iirc.

If you're still unsure, check this guy out, he recommends CTL 672 or Frego M if you're choosing your first pen tablet and there's other info on screen tablets.

That one is terrible. The lambdas wont be byte compiled (and therefore also wont be native compiled). Just using backquote is the best way to do it. If it is really offensive to you you could do something like

(cl-macrolet ((make-alist (&rest pairs)

collect `(cons ,a ,b) into form
finally return (cons 'list form))))
