no more personal computers, everything in the cloud for the few that would pay about $£90€ a month to get access to real hardware or something from our government-issued chromebook.

what a sad fucking world we're living in, globohomos wasting taxpayers money for something we won't have access to (hardware) in order for the arrow to go up so execs can celebrate on whoever_the_fuck_replaced_epstein island (yeah, oligarchs would not stop diddling kiddies because their main resort is closed, another one must be open somewhere else)

Actually I did. Back in early 2023 I figured I'd buy one, and later sell it to cover some of the expense of a 6090, foolishly thinking prices wouldn't get much worse than a 4090. Then they got worse. And when a 6090 comes out, it'll be double the fucking price of a 4090, which was already super expensive.

Of course it's totally responsible to want to know wtf happened in a case like this. A sane person wouldn't have done all of this in the first place. But lets assume something happened that required doing such a thing. In that case a sane person would have;
>Calmly explained the reason for the sudden changes
>Provided proof that no code had been modified
>Provided a way to verify they were the same person as the person that was running the other repo
>If they planned to drop the project they would have reached out to others that had contributed and offered them control over the repo before doing any of this (or as soon as possible if that wasn't something they could do)
>Would have encouraged someone to fork it from the last repo if they were not convinced and/or at least encouraged someone to continue working on this new repo and given them ownership

Instead we got....a sperg out.

I really really don't understand this modern batch of "FOSS lovers". When I was very active and releasing a lot of code from the mid-90s through the mid-2000s and still on the GPL kool-aid I would have never thought of doing something like that. I wanted my code to be used and I was happy for anyone to use it, contribute to it and didn't give any fucks if they forked it. Didn't matter if they called me mean names or not. I was just overjoyed that I had created something that hopefully improved the world and helped other people in some way. I didn't care what you used it for either. I didn't care about your race/religion/creed/whatever. As long as you weren't anti-free speech and free-use of software I didn't care. Most everything I created is now in the public domain. But if you want to place it under some other license I could give a shit about that too.

It's stupid. The drama we had was different back then. It was all just annoying licensing drama and autism fights about the best way to code something (and rarely what to code it in).

So what do you think about tech like this with the future of RAM prices? Should I buy one now before they get worse? I have an old pi 3 or 4 for projects (about to put into a Bulky MT-32) and I don't exactly need one right now but I would hate to need one in the future and it's fucking $300 or some bullshit when I can get one now for like $125.

why would you get a pi over an older x86 micro pc
>>
>>107588424
Because I tend to use pi's portably in weird places or in cyberdecks and such and not plugged into a wall somewhere. If I were to do that I would just get get a modern mini PC with like an AI 370 in it or something, I don't need any of those though.

>>107588424
NTA but I use an old RPi that I use for PiHole and occasionally torrent seeding. I've thought about going that route and expanding what I use it for but I assume it'd be way more power draw when I can't really think of that much more to do with it.

Magnesium is actually lighter than alu. That's why it's used in expensive race car wheels.
It's also very reactive so it corrodes easily and doesn't take much to set on fire, which has caused some pretty horrible motorsports incidents. Thankfully Audeze (and ZMF, and Fostex, and anyone else who uses it on headphones) use an alloy and not its pure form, so you won't have to worry about getting incinerated because you set fire to your headphones.

Is it better to output sound from my PS3/PS4 to my DAC with optical audio or to just use HDMI and the headphone jack on my monitor? I've heard that HDMI has better quality but also that monitors are worse at converting digital to analog. I have a Fiio K7 which I mainly use for my PC and ps2 but I'd like to have all my devices going to a single jack.

>Just take it off and run it through your fingers. They made a youtube video about it.
Wouldn't that fuck up the tape? I know their pads have plastic rings on the outside but the tape won't stick as good after I pull the pad off, no?
>>107587625
Then I have no fucking idea how they manage to make all their headphones so awfully heavy. It's really just Audeze with the >600g headphones. The newer design LCD-5 uses is lighter but the carbon fiber headband is fucking awful for functionality.
>>107587978
K7 outputs up to 24bit 96khz via optical so it's beyond what you're capable of hearing already. If the audio implementation on the monitor is shitty(it most certainly is not great at least) you'll be better off using optical on your DAC anyway.

Well achtually when you move a file within the same filesystem there's no deletion going around, just the location info gets updated. But when you move it across filesystems then it gets copied first and the original gets deleted.
