Like checking out and contributing to Coalton
https://github.com/coalton-lang/coalton

Not the original anon you're replying to, but imo lispers love creating toy Lisps too much instead of contributing to existing implementations and libraries that could actually be useful to others.
I guess it's comfortable to be the master of your domain and have an answer to every line and implementation detail, but why not look into contributing and improving shit that already exists?

If you were one of those who don't like CL's babylonian landscape I wouldn't care, make your domain with racket for all I care. But you want to use CL, and plan to spend all this effort into making something that already exists and performs great in the Common Lisp ecosystem, what if you spent that effort into something that will impact others.

Or not, I know it's not that serious, I simply grow frustrated when capable people go and spend a year doing a toy lisp and then leave it in a half finished state, or half-baked libraries instead of contributing to existing ones, contributing to the ever expanding list of badly documented, redundant Common Lisp tools.
>>
>>108354327
a real compiler for starters
>>
>>108355353
I looked into and tried Coalton but it's not really what I'm looking for. Besides just not liking the semantics/ergonomics it doesn't fit my usecase. I want to make a Lisp that I can use for realtime purposes, like Carp. It's not a CL library/extension like Coalton, I would just use CL to bootstrap it.
I agree with your sentiment in general but as you said, it's not that serious, it's more just a fun project for me. If I like how it comes out then I'll work on it more seriously but in the meantime it's just a fun experiment.
>>108355457
You mean instead of transpiling to C? No thanks, I'll just do the Nim/Haxe approach and let C compilers do the heavy lifting for now. Otherwise not really tenable for me. Part of what I want is good C interop so it makes sense from my perspective. I'm more interested in language design/practicality than compiler theory lol.

Optimus robots not as advanced as he anticipated.

> "Elon Musk had big goals for 2030 for the robot Optimus. A total of one million models of the humanoid helper were to be sold per year. It has been apparent for some time that Musk took over the development of Optimus. Now this impression is confirmed. How Electrek Musk had to admit in a call with investors that the Optimus robots are not yet as advanced as he has repeatedly claimed."

> "The billionaire added that he does not expect significant production of the Optimus robots by the end of 2026. Musk was also asked how many Optimus robots Tesla would own in total. He left this question unanswered."

P14s Intel and P1 seem like the best current compromises between modularity and portability. If you can wait a few months, the next gen T14 will be the first 14-incher in 8 years to have both modular RAM and all-day battery life, and unlike the P1/P14s it still has a modular keyboard.

i think in most cases you would need an onsite visit for initial setup and to ensure they don't do something silly like stick them all in an unventilated closet and they have adequate power/UPS/etc, and integrate with their existing network. Once setup and properly configured for monitoring then remote SSH for updates/features/debugging/etc.

Is it true that the Sennheiser HDB630 has noticeable latency even if you use the included meme dongle by default? That's horrible. Why are all wireless headphones such a meme?
I guess it has some sort of gaming mode that probably destroys audio quality but that's not a solution. I should be able to watch videos on a $500 pair of cutting edge headphones without having to resort to something like that.
>>
>>108355307
For video playback bluetooth device is supposed to communicate its latency to compensate it.
That method won't work for games obviously, and not required for music.
Non-bluetooth dongle can't compensate the delay.
>>
>>108355345
I wish Bluetooth just died. I can stream 4000x2000p worth of interactive VR bestiality porn onto a wireless VR headset at 90fps with no noticeable delay but transmitting audio in real time is too much to ask?

Plenty of just werks software doesnt actually just werk
I remember when I first tried Mint and my mouse sensitivity and wallpaper kept resetting every time I booted the computer
Obviously there are ways around it and I stuck with it and learned the damned thing but at that point you can't help but wonder why it should even offer a GUI for the setting you want to change
And then you realize it stopped being "just werks" and became a question of how much you're willing to trade convenience for freedom or whatever, some stuff really has you jumping through hoops to avoid proprietary software. Of course there are reasons that are ideological rather than practical about it and I won't dismiss them but the fact remains that plenty of stuff labeled as just werking is misleading
