What is it about big O notation that is so hard to understand for people?
Despite being a fundamental concept in CS, so many CS graduates think they understand what big O means, but when they try to explain it they are completely wrong.
For example pic related, almost every statement in the "explanation" is incorrect.

This is, for all intents and purposes, the exact same thing as the OP image, if we account for the fact that in classifying functions we virtually always use the lowest relevant bound, only expressed on mathfaggotese instead of plain language

>This is meaningless gibberish.
I.e. 2 points:
1) There does not exist such a thing as the lowest relevant bound.
2) Even if you reinterpret it to mean that we never want to say a function is bounded by some other function which is orders of magnitude faster growing, this is just wrong. Both in math and CS, functions are regularly called O(g) for some much faster growing g. That is, in fact, the whole point of big O, to be able to do that and simplify things in such a way, without keeping track of every precise function.

i don't think OP's question is focusing on the Zig part.
>>
What better way to keep X going than to implement it in another meme language with barely any support or userbase!
>>
>>107727870
well X was being "maintained" by red hat so making a fork of it when there's an officially supported version wouldn't have made much sense since nobody was going to use it, even if everyone who pays attention knew red hat was intentionally trying to kill it. As soon as they stopped pretending to maintain it xlibre made sense so now we have that. This zig bullshit is probably just some autist rewriting shit in a memelang for no good reason but if anything actually happens with it there's a good chance it's some corpo sabotage embrace extend extinguish bullshit
>>
>>107727972
Someone probably hacked together a c2zig transpiler and/or use AI, and they’re going to go at it that way. Same scheming behaviour that Rust proponents used.
Anyone attempting such a stupid project doesn’t understand the first principles of how to go about accomplishing anything worthwhile.

It's not a "rewrite," it's a new implementation of X11. Calling it a rewrite is like calling Chrome a rewrite of Firefox because they both implement web standards, or calling Linux a rewrite of BSD because they both implement POSIX. It'll be backwards compatible with basically all X11 programs while dropping support for hardware older than 15-20 years and niche features that don't make sense anymore.
>>107728016
The dev made GPU screen recorder, he's at least somewhat competent. Also AI barely even works for Zig because the language changes so much and the new features aren't in LLM's training data.

It isn't about typing speed. It's about the browsing experience of 4chan. And not having to install 10 million userscripts and just having 1 app that does it ALL. For example: saving bookmarks, saving attachments, converting attachments, notifying you for (You)'s, saving/downloading threads, having different themes, etc etc. There's much more and I'm confident other anons can fill the gaps. Shitposting without kuraboex is the mongoloid thing in reality.

the threads and bookmarks are displayed in the same manner.

normally you want threads to be displayed as catalog. and the bookmarks as a list.
but you can't.
bookmarks displayed as catalog are pure cancer.

yea, that's my post. you won't get as good a result on youtube itself (not that you'd really care how efficient it was since you aren't paying for its' storage) as you don't have control over encoding parameters. someone else soon after made a tool to do so, bittube i think. i don't know how long such videos last on youtube since i never tried storing anything on youtube, i was only interested in encoding data as video. i'd actually already gotten rid of my google account by that point

you "don't have time", you have "obligations" and "responsibilities"

Reality of the matter is that you would burn everything to the ground and find a way if you truly really loved it and found purpose in it
The true crux of the whole shebang is that you realized that the mindless tech exploration gives you no real world measurable outcomes
Yea, you can rewrite firmware, optimize the kernel, spend a lot time ricing the OS, but WHAT FOR? What's the end goal of all that? Nothing but superfluous circlejerking, or worse yet "for its own sake".

If you truly want to get back I suggest to you to make a dollar amount on your labor and hours and then "hire yourself" for it. Find some project that you might like BUT that will also be profitable and will give you back your man-hours of work.
And if it doesn't work out and you don't get your moneys worth? You did a reasonable R&D exploration that costed you some time.

It is never a good idea to dismiss or push away bad feelings, try to understand them and then integrate them.

The market takes time to respond. Don't be a coombrain child expecting the whole world to bend in an instant because you cried about voluntary transactions in market economics.
>>
== Option 1: GPU manufacturers prioritize B2C ==
Cards remain cheap, more people continue getting into PC gaming. People play on Ultra settings. The AI industry stalls, thus perpetualizing the global trade war deadlock. Inequality, scarcity and suffering continue worldwide, and at any time countries like Russia could decide to end civilization by starting a nuclear war when one of their military operations doesn't work out.

== Option 2: GPU manufacturers prioritize B2B ==
Cards become more expensive. People can still easily get into PC gaming, but might have to lower the graphics settings from Ultra to High. Game devs have to start optimizing their games again, but they now have easy, cheap access to genius level AI that can help them, so their workload ends up being a fraction of what it would have been.
The availability of cheap compute for AI eventually kickstarts an exponential acceleration that eventually leads to the Singularity. Once it begins, concepts like inequality and scarcity fade into oblivion over a matter of months as we ascend it a more advanced state of society.

Choose.
>>
>>107730028
The problem is that all the "manufacturers" take dies from sources that are all bound up with AI meme. That's why everything points to this shit lasting for years and why this "it will just fix itself" is not working.
>>
>>107723190
It's almost as if all the people in the market for this generation of gpus have already acquired them.
Same shit happens to every other ecosystem when the tech outpaced the current mass produced offering.

These manufacturers don't want to produce outdated product just for another company to release another product with updated hardware. Of they aren't releasing a new iteration or updating the product to be more efficient then why bother when the only people buying are in a totally different product line.

sennheiser hd 6xx/600/650/800
you can still find early model 600/650s from 20 years ago that work perfectly. Padding on headband is replaceable, so are the pads. Plastic overall design. HD 800 is a lot more money but it has a metal headband and obviously replaceable padding. Ironically a lot of 1k+ headphones have/had qc/design flaws but the hd 800 is still one of if not the most solid. Regardless any of those will do what you want and should last forever unless you try and break them like a monkey

Is it? These things have a range of tens of kilometres so it can't be multi-mode plastic stuff, it has to be single-mode glass fibre. If I had to bet I'd guess that the actual core and cladding are the same as the cable you would use for fibre networking, with the only difference being fewer and thinner protective layers.
