Not your OS responsibility to police the behavior of your contributors.
On or off platform.

At least it isn't some retarded user end agreement where they revoke your license cause you said Nigger on 4chan.

I mean, It is to Arch what Bazzite is to Fedora.
Easy to install, preloaded with the needed drivers, and mutabilitily/stability/how close to the bleeding edge of tech they are all equivalent to their parent distro.
I prefer Bazzite cause it's more stable and I don't like fixing things.
Others like cachy cause its bleeding edge tech and super fast even.if things break here and there.

Yeah looks like there's a problem reading the EDID through DVI here, dunno where it fails exactly. I wonder if I can use the one I get from VGA somehow.

Rule of thumb is that 1C charging current is safe, where C == battery capacity/h. In your case 2.5A should be fine.

Do we have the technology to create an anonymous Twitter-like website without usernames and without identities, where you can just go to say any wacky thing you can think of and those words could never be traced back to you? There would be no moderation and the words are there, etched in stone, forever.

I feel like even if such thing were made, people would still be scared to say what they really want to say. In fear that it's secretly a honeypot and that they weren't as anonymous as they thought!
>>
>>106538673
>twitter-like
horrible idea, that site is designed to ragebait you forever
but of course it's possible, it would probably just not be tolerated in some places because people will just use it to spam you know what like they do on every single altchan
also it'd be a complete shithole, you don't actually want a no moderation site

Uh... that's an imageboard. Also "general"/"mass social media" type sites with no topic always die out. You want a niche like focus if you want to thrive and not deal with BS drama.

I've been programming a game lately which I initially started like 10 years ago but forgot about it. Some weeks ago I started working and extending it significantly. I added some things I haven't seen in other games.

It's a multiplayer 2D space shooting game.

- Chat
- Place images
- Change music
- Normal and charged attacks
- Warps that can be used or destroyed
- A safe zone in the center where you receive no damage. It can be opened (green) or closed (red) on a single laser hit. If you shoot a charged attack it bounces.
- When low on health ships can self-destroy to cause damage if other nearby ships.
- There is a boost/turbo that increases speed a bit temporarily, and there's a chance to reflect attacks while on it.
- Ships can crash and they can bounce, cause damage, or both.

One of the most fun parts of it is the images since it can cover the map with random backgrounds, give it a sense of context/travel.

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

I realize this is the HOME server general, but I figured you guys would have the most expertise on this.

Because of recent geoblocking I'm considering renting a cheap non-EU/UK VPS to use as SSH SOCKS5 proxy. I've never rented a VPS before as I have my own home server but that obviously won't let me access things from a foreign IP. Do you guys have any recommendations for a (non-EU/UK) VPS service that's cheap, easy, and ideally doesn't glow too brightly? Usage is very light so specs basically don't matter.

Do the games need to run on the server, or does the server just need to make the files accessible via the network to be played on other systems? Because for just storing data and sharing files over the network (i.e., a NAS) you need basically no processing power or RAM. Take any old PC you have lying around or can get for cheap. The only thing to watch out for is that you want enough SATA slots.

You'll want to set up a software RAID5 or RAID6 via mdadm, meaning you need X+1 or X+2 HDDs of the same size connected to have X * size storage space. (For example, 5 HDDs of 8 TB each give you 32 TB (4*8) of storage space in RAID5 or 24 TB (3*8) in RAID6.) RAID5/RAID6 keeps your data intact even if one drive fails (or two drives fail in case of RAID6) but requires you to use more drives for the same amount of space.

Don't forget the SSD the OS runs on has its own SATA (or M.2) slot, and some motherboards disable certain SATA slots if you have an M.2 drive connected. There are PCI cards that give you extra SATA slots if you need more.

I normally use MacOS, but for my work laptop I have to use Windows. Recently my job replaced my Windows 10 work laptop to Windows 11 and holy shit it is so bad.
I can't even change where my fucking taskbar is located as there's no setting for it anymore, it doesn't even let me edit the registry anymore. Not to mention that it shoves Copilot at me forcefully with no chance to disable it.
Man, Windows sissies really have it this bad. I didn't even realize. It's so over.
