Problems with Zig:

* The language and its standard library are unstable (change a lot)
* The compiler is unstable (will compile your code incorrectly, and you will find it difficult to impossible find such mistakes, depending on how well you know Assembly)
* Comptime arguments are basically equivalent to template arguments in C++ (Might as well use C++. It's uglier, but semantically similar)
* Zig is not actually memory-safe, even though it claims/implies that it is. Debug builds are about as safe as C/C++ built with memory sanitizers.
* Slow compile times (compared to C)

The good:

* It doesn't try to "gotcha" you as much when it comes to UB.
* More type system info about slices and pointer types. Not sure it's worth it.

>The addition to the FCC's "Covered List" means that DJI, Autel and other foreign drone companies will not be able to obtain the necessary FCC approval to sell new models of drones or critical components in the U.S.
>The FCC designation does not prohibit import, sale or use of any existing device models the telecom regulator previously authorized, and does not impact any previously purchased drones, the FCC said. It added that consumers can continue to use any drones they previously purchased legally.
existing models can continue to be imported.
>The company sells more than half of U.S. commercial drones.
>The FCC said it received the results of a White House-convened, executive-branch interagency review of the risks of foreign drones on Sunday, which found that imported drones and components pose security risks "given the threats from unauthorized surveillance, sensitive data exfiltration, supply chain vulnerabilities, and other potential threats to the homeland."
>Sebastian Gorka, senior director of counterterrorism at the National Security Council, said the action was part of ensuring that drones are made in the United States. "Drones are a large part of America’s future security. They must be made in the USA," he wrote on X on Monday.
>DJI said earlier this month that "more than 80% of the nation's 1,800+ state and local law enforcement and emergency response agencies that operate drone programs use DJI technology; these programs will be at immediate risk if they no longer have access to the most cost effective and efficient drone technology available."
it does seem legitimately bad to rely upon foreigners for construction of one of the most important developments in autonomous vehicles, especially regarding warfare.

Where do you mean ukro drones come from? They're 100% chink, same as russian ones.
There are some chink export restrictions for both of those shitholes tho, can't export big dji drones like agras series. CCP wants those to be used for agriculture and not slav monkeys blowing themselves up.
>>
>>107653461
Partially correct. China has scaled back a little on drone selling to Ukraine over the past year, but has largely sold the parts in bulk where Ukraine basically puts it together very quickly. Obviously export restrictions apply to both russia and ukraine. Export restrictions are also quite easy to bypass and EU has been shipping to Ukraine what they lack after buying from China. Russia, however, largely produces the vast majority of their drones in house. Their entire drone industry has been built and scaled in house since they started buying from Iran a few years ago. The vast majority of drones being used in the war have been tooled and built in house for over 2 years now. China was pressured to scale back part production export from EU and USA into Russia so they decided to do it to Ukraine if they were gonna do it to Russia over 2 years ago. Ukraine has been trying to hit drone production plants constantly.
>>
>>107653516
>Export restrictions are also quite easy to bypass
They're not, big DJI drones have built in hardware geofuse.

I've paid for a podcast service, and I want to automate the download of a very specific stream. Apparently the links are generated on demand, so I have to use the browser, manually click a few buttons then I can finally get a link.

What's the best way to automate this process? I'm using Fedora and Firefox if that helps.

I use QubesOS with detached boot partition on 2 duplicated USB drives with any data that rests on the SSD/HDDs being encrypted with LUKS2. Whonix gateway is proxied through a VPN qube to hide Tor IPs (can't hide communication patterns) without bridges since bridge IPs can be farmed. Sometimes Tor through I2P outproxy or vice-versa or with different anonymizing network overlays. Clients used for browsing are only opened in on-RAM ephemeral qubes with no access to permanent storage. Attack surface is quite minimum since no extra things added like USB mouse and no PV qubes (aside from sys-usb and sys-net) are used for launching HVM qubes with qemu stub domains unless very necessary and every other qube on the system gets shut down first to keep information leakage minimum. A veracrypt volume with hidden storage on a permanent qube for data storage and plausible deniability.

what's your setup like?

You put it on tape, and then put the tape in an ideal conditioned box made of lead.
This prevents radiation fucking with it, and also as the conditions are ideal - the tape will not rot.

I was thinking about this a few years ago. I considered a few solutions including tape and some special optical disks intended to have a long shelf life.
In the end I decided to place a few retroreflectors at 10, 20, and 30 light years from Earth. I encoded all my data into a single stream of bits and transmitted them towards each reflector with a laser. If I lose the other copies of my data I'll have convenient opportunities to recover it at the 20, 40, and 60 year marks just by being ready in the right place with a photodetector.

I was about to get a tablet, then I thought it's useless, my flagship smartphone has way more power.

What am I going to do with a tablet? Have a slightly bigger screen?

I can use the Android Desktop mode(or Samsung's), a terminal emulator, and I can run a Desktop Environment and everything.

What do you think? One is a portable monitor with a battery and a wireless display, the other ones are glasses that supposedly give you a 4k screen. Has anyone tried the glasses? Do you have advice and recommendations, with prices too? Regards.

I will present a new paradigm:
< 180 Hz = electronic waste

Frame generation exists. Using it means your real framerate will be capped in half. Having it be lower like a 165 Hz monitor means your max will be an awkward but still smooth 80-81, giving some leeway against the max refresh for VRR stability purposes. At more than 180 you get to have 90 FPS as an internal max, which is just the right amount for responsiveness in most action-heavy games, while at the same time capping it to a number which limits the stress on GPUs thus extending their lives. For weaker GPUs that cannot handle 90 in demanding games those can turn up the framegen to 3x and pin themselves to the baseline acceptable 60 FPS.
>>
Does this site have the potential to overtake PC partpicker?
In the absence of a 3D model for a Galax SKU of the 5070 Ti, put an MSI in its place. Actually case too, King 95 instead of a 65, and the non-RGB version of the AIO. If I had the cash and the shop didn't run out of 95 Pros then I might have went with something like this. Though the very rectangular Galax has grown on me since it fits the boxy 65 better.
