Not a bad idea. I found that Guix SD actually ran way way faster in qemu under Fedora with access to less than half of my cores and ram than on bare metal. Probably a firmware issue.

>>107734530
I don't need more power. I want something that makes it very simple to get the answer I want very quickly. For 90% of small computations I can pick up my cheap casio and get the answer in less time that it would take to open excel or start r studio and dismiss the annoying update popup or launch windows' awful webshit calculator app.

If I need repeatability or documentation or to do something with lots of data or calculate something that I need the specialist software to do I'll get out the big guns but a lot of the time I don't and the calculator is just better.

Me neither until some time ago, apparently it's become a thing in the last 40 years or so in N.America (and Australia, for dingos); large guardian dogs are (were, to an extent) hard to procure there and they are more expensive to maintain.

Alas, donkeys are eaten here in Italy, albeit it's a very niche thing (horse is *much* more common).

Just tried Hyperdroid on my phone. Whoa, the maker really went all the way in making it work just like using Windows 11. They even went too far with Windows11 sounds and a file explorer like Windows Explorer. They even copied Settings amd the Taskbar. App drawer with search is the Windows button with Windows logo, omg. After spending time with DeX on my Samsung tablet, I don't want to go back to the regular Android launchers. My faves are the LG and Microsoft launchers until now, but DeX and Hyperdroid are next level and my new faves now. Hyperdroid forces landscape, though, won't work in portrait like DeX and and any other Android launcher.

Damn, my phone looks like a Windows 11 phone or something, fucking kek

Some useful random knowledge.

UPX is an executable packer. It came greatly trim down the size of your final .exe file. Be aware this CAN raise false positives with modern anti viruses (an anon was pissed at me for this a few months back because he actually used UPX in production apparently) and it will not work on programs that use JIT during runtime (must be compiled down to machine code). You can trim some binaries down by over 50% in size using UPX.

InnoSetup is probably one of the best install wizard makers. Can create scripts pretty easily so it can be a CLI utility in CICD pipelines. Plus it has a wizard for creating the scripts which makes it really convenient.

Sqlite has some of the fastest read times for any database engine, with the drawback being write concurrency (only 1 writer at a time since it is file based). This is the best option for lightweight apps not hugely dependent on concurrent writing.

ResEdit let's you easily build .dll files and resources files for your executable. If you've ever been in one of those threads where OP says something like "how come developers back in the day were able to make a torrent program at only 235Kb with a good GUI?" well one trick is the resource file. You can easily build Windows forms, embed images, and add other useful data and with an extra build step/parameter you can compile it into your application relatively easily. This makes it realistic to create simple lightweight C programs that use Windows forms.

>language is backwards incompatible, stuff gets deprecated and removed every release, you have to keep tons of minor versions at the same time just in case
>no one adheres to semantic versioning (like the above, not even the language itself!), upgrading minor version of dependencies will break stuff
>no one maintains requirements.txt correctly
every fucking time i want to try out some python repo project, i have to first check the last commit date, then look for release dates of each dependency to find versions that were already released at the time the author was using it.
AI field is the worst offender, i don't think i've seen a 1month+ project that worked out of the box without having to tard wrangle the dependencies.
>>
>>107738789
The language was fucked from the start, full of terrible ideas. However, with that as the baseline, it got fucked even more once a few Russian JavaScript tech influencers infiltrated the board and started pushing for the async shit and the type annotations. Since then Guido fucking left, and now every single release is breaking a bunch of old code. Not to mention that every dependency with C code has to be rewritten to accommodate for the backward incompatible C Python API changes, every single release. Half the useful libraries don't fucking work on the latest and the second-latest versions of CPython.

Sorry to break it to you but AI cannot build your taste, as someone who has ~80k minutes listened every year on Spotify, it's not good at discovering new music of same/similar taste, you will still have to do it manually & most of the time outside of Spofity or any other music platform.
And, YT Music just recommends a lot of duplicates for 0 reason.
Neither are good for actual music discovery.

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

Windows routinely corrupts user profiles, silently reinstalls bloatware, and pushes updates that brick audio drivers. Microsoft has graciously gifted you the privilege of becoming your family's unpaid IT intern. Every weekend spent wrestling with PowerShell to undo what "Helpful" TelemetryUpdate v4.8.2 did to your system? Real adults don't expect stability. Real adults enjoy spelunking through Group Policy just to disable "suggested apps" for the 17th time. Real adults get a warm, nostalgic rush when they see the blue screen's calming gradient, ah yes, the familiar embrace of an OS that keeps you humble. And let's be honest: if you truly loved Windows, you wouldn't complain when it deletes your Documents folder "by accident." You'd thank it for teaching you the value of cloud backups (preferably OneDrive, conveniently preinstalled and impossible to fully remove, out of love).

The endless tinkering? That's not a symptom of systemic fragility, it's a feature. A bonding ritual. A digital form of Stockholm Syndrome where you start believing that spending your free time reversing Microsoft's latest "enhancement" is actually empowering. After all, why would you want an operating system that just… works? That'd be boring. Where's the character-building? Where's the joy of explaining to your grandmother, again, that no, "Windows Security" isn't a virus, it's just pretending to be one for her own safety? So yes, keep scripting, keep debloating, keep force-killing "Windows Modules Installer Worker" like it's a part-time job. You're not fixing a flawed system. You're participating in a sacred tradition: the eternal dance of the devoted user who insists, with tear-streaked cheeks and a freshly rebuilt boot sector, that this is normal… and maybe even good.

if Windows were actually easy, reliable, and respectful of your time you wouldn't cry about Linux all day every day.
