I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.

I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative.

After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.

Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.

I don't care what they write the UI in as long as it works as it should. So far the UI of every windows version felt fast and responsive, while 11's UI is an unresponsive clusterfuck.

When I tried AeroThemePlasma on Fedora, I got a nasty bug where opening the Start Menu with the keyboard would break the transparency on the left side of the taskbar...and ONLY if I opened the Start Menu with the keyboard.

I should mention that I'm using the proprietary NVIDIA driver, so maybe it works better on Nouveau. I know AeroThemePlasma works bug-free on Wayland through LLVM, but LLVM is slow as hell.

Not on this machine yet, but I managed to get a fork of yuzu running on my other gentoo box. It's amazing what 1.60Ghz is capable of running, kirby and the forgotten land runs very clunkily, for example, at 1/2 resolution. Since the elitedesk has no hdmi-out, it's having to serve as mostly a 'normal' computer to use zogged services like 4chan on, but it's the most ram-ful pc I have, and I don't intend to waste it.
No h8 on the anons running supersport pcs, but gentoo takes so few resources, I haven't felt any pressure to upgrade, especially because I dunno if I can actually use something besides gentoo anymore... emerge is too goated.

My computer had its first fatal error message in several years and it was on startup. Almost got stressed and just ended up spamming the power button until it went away.
Unironically what causes this to happen and how do I fix it?
>>
>>107673317
Hardware might be starting to fail, if the fatal error becomes a regular thing you might want to count the beeps and find the specs on that Laptop or PC and see what part is failing

So don't be so quick to hammer the power button and let it play out (if you want to fix it)

You're telling me, the entire infrastructure of the Internet that relies on this single service ran by a bunch of pajeets while also already proving that the entire service is not stable and has demonstrated that it can crash at a moment's notice, and NO ONE has decided to make an alternative?

Switching to Linux for gaming seems to be the popular thing these days and Steam is the choice for it. Whereas on Windows using GOG I can actually own my game and keep a copy of it, I'm not leasing it if the platform decides to just take shit back. Windows has better software support and freedom.

Wells wrote about black people brought over to beat and kill the revolting populace because they're foreigners and don't care. Turns out he was dumb and didn't understand that it's much cheaper to get robots from China and teleoperators from India instead. Yeah you lose both on the muscles and the brains, but you get peak efficiency and unlimited amount of enforcers at your disposal. What a doofus.

Doubt it. Maybe in a decade if the devs ever get converted. They dont seem to want to remake their whole development and CI system when the Ubuntu runtime works. The linux container runtimes are Debian based and I doubt those will change in the next 4-5 years themselves.

Arch is unironically the best gaming distro because you don't have to compile the newest drivers and libraries to make it work with recent games.

honestly, this is a waste of time.
kuroba dev is way better.

I was thinking about this for some time, renewable is a joke, nuclear is too expensive, hydro isn't available everywhere and cause problems with downstream countries
Oil and Gas as energy sources are
>Scalable
>Cheap and abundant
>The price of a power station is dirt cheap
>Less variables that can reduce the output
>Tech can be improved to reduce pollution
Other alternatives are just failing to meet one or most of these criteria
The US current attempt to change Venezuela gov is a public declaration that alternatives have mostly failed and at best just reduced the need for gas and oil by small margins

Now you are making solar sound even better. Every home needs to be able to put up enough vertical PV to supply its own power in winter, otherwise it's too cramped.

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

bought an older XP computer cause I wanted an older machine to just own, I like the look of the old computer cases and wanted something that could run some old programs and cd-roms, didn't feel like emulating on my main pc.

anyway my problem is I'm struggling to make out some of these parts, and also what to do in regards of if I need to add anything else to it.

I'm gonna have to post like 5 comments under this with all the screenshots......

looking at other motherboards but yeah my one wont support it.

found this: https://ebay.us/m/wnP1Ow which looks pretty decent and should be a nice upgrade!
>>
>>107673157
Oh ok I misread, yeah that would be a nice with the added bonus of running a lot cooler. But once you reach the core 2 it really does feel like you're using a slow modern PC whereas the P4 you posted in the OP would make for a fun win98/2K dual boot. IMO get keep both machines running as they can do different stuff.
>>
>>107673181
I'll definitely keep both, but I'm just aiming to have a fun retro sort of xp build that can run some games from back then!

one thing that all the other anons didn't pay attention to is to check what PSU form factor the case uses

Which is irrelevant, you'll just lack one screw.
