4-year Qubes user here... 32GB should be plenty for almost all users. Funding might be an issue, but last I checked they at least seem to be sitting on top of a few million $ worth of crypto donations, they're getting like a million a year from their partners (Mullvad etc.) and I donate small amounts of XMR to them when I can. But that's not a whole lot in the grand scheme of things.
