This year's Debian Project Leadership election has only ONE candidate and it's a Pajeeta (Sruthi Chandran):
>She is inactive on the mailing lists, and her Salsa profile is private so we can't even see what her coding contributions are.
>She's run for DPL 4 times before; lost each time
>Her entire platform is just about diversity and bitching about cis males
>She intends to formally incorporate Debian in the US, which would force Debian to introduce age verification
Her only claim to fame is organizing DebConf23, an event where a Debian developer literally fucking DIED because basic health & safety measures were not followed.

A much more qualified candidate was hospitalized during the nomination window and couldn't apply in time, yet she has refused to reopen nominations.

Debian is FUCKED unless the Debian developers all vote NOTA (None of the above).

Why do even good Apple products make /g/ seethe?

Because apple sells overpriced garbage marketed to normies and they are clearly against the right to repair. They also want walled gardens for software

Basically, if you are human with a human soul that likes freedom, apple is against that
>>
>>108518017
For productive people it's generally a waste of time to repair your laptop, or tinker with bespoke software configurations. You're just being autistic about your irrelevant hobby while well adjusted people value a streamlined experience and the highest quality physical devices. Basically for you computers are an end unto itself, while Macs are a true mean to an end.
>>
>>108517581
Nah I'm referring to my Thinkpad with shared GPU memory. It has 16gb of shared ram but htop shows it almost never even touches 5gb with my use, never uses swap. I used to believe the meme that 16gb+ was mandatory for living in 2026, but at the very least this experience on Linux has proven for me that this is not true. I'm not an applefag so I don't own any systems with MacOS to compare to, but this experience suggests that 8gb of ram shouldn't be some inherently unusable configuration as people claim.
>>
>>108517984
wrong. nice try.
>>108518146
mostly the browser is what eats all my ram, linux and macos.
>>
>>108515640
The only good thing apple does is put their hardware in cast aluminum cases.
I still own woefully out of date apple laptops that are going strong because of the fact the cases are built to last much to apple's chagrin.
It's entirely the reason why I only buy laptops encased in metal. Plastic shit falls apart.

This might help increase your CL vocabulary. Just strip off the leading "cl-" when in actual CL and not Elisp.

I used oldschool nutrition trackers to create my diet, I just assumed he wouldn't want to spend 10 minutes adding up nutrients in someone else's meal plan.

I did ask Claude for comments on my meals, but it said it's already about as good as it gets given my constraints (low prep-time, low calories). It claimed the plan lacks iodine, which was incorrect because dairy and eggs in central Europe are iodine-fortified.

>You need to be an expert or at least competent in some field other than programming, whether it's banking or biology or law etc.
I wouldn't even go that far. Just be knowledgable in patterns that are extensions of things you would program.
I'm a backend expert and an automated testing expert. That's gotten me very far in my career. You can't just be a "programmer" because every jeet who went to a 6 week code bootcamp can do that, and now AI is crowing that space out as well. You need to understand systems, any sort of system of your choice that you think will give you work.
>operations
But yeah, this is more my point. DevOps is a great place to get into if you're having issues just being a "programmer". Another good place is database management or pipeline. Those guys always have something to do.

The best interviews even pre-AI were about understanding systems, not programming. Any dipshit could cram code questions, but asking an experienced engineer about shit they've actually made always gave better results. I could talk for hours about the automated testing framework I designed and built for three years of my life. Any dipshit jeet trying to bullshit their way into a job would have no such story to give because they have never made anything besides readme changes to high end github projects.
I think this remains true even in the age of AI. It will be more about what you've engineered and systems you've designed rather than what specific programming language you or your AI agent used.
At the same time, we're still going to have scores of shit companies asking all sorts of terrible questions that don't advance their own interests. Can't wait for "about how many tokens do you burn on average? Ooh, that answer doesn't meet our expectations."
>>
>>108491230
AI is the solution. Get with the program or perish. Face it. AI is the future.
>>
>>108517188
Yeah, but at some point you're gonna have to ask something strictly technical, i.e. what the exact limitations are of one approach or other, or how you'd troubleshoot a specific issue. These are the things that are harder to learn the more you use AI.

>I'm not reading all of that
First of all you did.

Second, phones do provide easy dopamine loops but YOU need to stop it. You have been TRAINED to have ADHD because how are current society is. I'm not saying its bad to have porn, video games, internet but YOU have to START/FIX what your goal is. Once you do that you will not get hooked on your old vices. ADHD is cope. YOU think your lesser then other people because you label yourself ADHD because its easier to be a victim and push the blame on something else, because society gave you that option. You can do literally anything you want but we live in a time when have endless coping mechanisms and a lot of people been trained to be dependent on societal/governmental authority(this is the real cause of laziness). If you want to change you need to stop thinking/preparing and DO. Because everyone has a goal/dream they want to achieve but will fight against their porn addiction, game, or social media addiction because they are scared to achieve their end goal. The only addiction you need to 100% focus on stopping is alcoholism and drug abuse. Because if you drink again your gonna go on a bender again, while you can jack off or play a video game not destroy your life.

Its hard to do but simple to fix.

Pipewire is notorious for crackling like a snap crackling when either recording audio, doing multiple streams or gaming. If you tab out of a game while something is playing it will do this screeching robotic static crackle.

On windows I have never ever ever had any audio problems over the 15 years I've used it. The worst problem I ever had was finding out how to set a microphone as the default because the audio panel is convoluted to even get to the
