>Our North Star is ‘1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code.’ To accomplish this previously unimaginable task, we’ve built a powerful code processing infrastructure. Our algorithmic infrastructure creates a scalable graph over source code at scale. Our AI processing infrastructure then enables us to apply AI agents, guided by algorithms, to make code modifications at scale. The core of this infrastructure is already operating at scale on problems such as code understanding.”

They effectively do the same thing. Check for something and abort current operation if a condition is not met. Whenever that is done via aborting the process, killing thread, unwinding stack or whatever else is configurable doesn't really change the point of that function.

Why are ""people"" (gamers) still so anti-VA? Modern VA panels have absurdly fast response times on par with IPS (faster actually except for black to black). On the plus side you get the blackest blacks, whitest whites and no backglow messing up everything.

I understand OLED is superior to both and TN is the competitive choice but it's weird seeing how many people still tell each other to steer clear of VA when your average $200 VA panel is almost certainly better than a $200 IPS one.

Some of the more recent IPS displays I've gotten have somehow made the glow much less noticeable. It's still there, but not as obvious as the distractingly uneven glow I got on a display from around 2015.
>>
>>107656028
Love OLED, but if your usecase is mostly reading/writing, IPS is probs still the best choice.
>>
>>107657577
What is IPS glow? I'm looking for a new monitor and I'm leaning toward IPS.

After re-installing and re-doing every single little fix needed to make this thing usable I noticed I lost several hours of my life. Probably more than a full day if put together all the times I had to do this over the last 2 years.

I'm going through a junk laptop I found. The main I found it was mostly used in 2005 and some times in 2010 before being dumped where I found it on sale.

I've been looking through the files and logs seeing that it has only been used for the internet explorer and email. The logs for internet explorer are completely wiped, but the cookies still remain where it seems to be part of some advertising network. Everything that wasn't email or some sort of advertising was wiped. But there are some broken folders. Shockingly there is absolutely no data for 2011 when I found logs saying it had been used by that point.

The weirder thing is most things on the surface are wiped outside a photo of a family and a document for plane tickets for the original user and some girl. I searched up the names on the plane tickets and found a girl, who must have been the daughter in the photo, now being employed at a child abuse prevention organization.

Trying to restore any files with Linux isn't doing much at all. System restore is broken as well, even though there are many things listed as restore points. But my question is what the fuck was the original user doing to intensively nuke their folders, and everything past 2010, while keeping some random ass shit intact?

>Should I change to Linux?
It depends. If you're a lifelong Windows user, it's going to take some getting used to, and you're going to notice the difference. Not every program is going to just run after clicking on the .exe like it does on windows. If you use specific professional software like Photoshop or AutoCAD or FL studio, be aware that these don't run natively on linux and it takes some tinkering and workarounds to get them to work. It's not impossible to run these, but it's one a one click install sort of thing either.
If you don't use those specific programs, Linux is basically just as easy if not easier than Windows by this point. Gaming is just a matter of installing Steam and launching your games through the Proton launcher.
>>
>>107658343
Start with the mainstream ones like Ubuntu or Fedora. Use Ubuntu for the widest range of support or Fedora for the most updates. Use the KDE desktop environment if you want something that's like Windows 7 or the Xfce desktop environment if you want something like Windows XP. Once you know what you like or dislike about Ubuntu or Fedora you can then search for more specialized distros that fix the stuff you dislike. Also explore customization options and once you get really comfortable with Linux you can try Arch if that's your thing.

Then just do it? systemd not being there shouldn't have any effect on your daily use. Also, Artix has many different install options, many of them use the Calamares installer and even pre-install some stuff for you, so ironically it's more noob friendly than regular Arch kek.

Windows 8 was a downgrade, Windows 10 was terrible, Windows 11 is a massive fucking turd.
If they actually start creating proper Rust tooling for Windows, we might actually start seeing fast applications that are light on RAM use. This is a real chance for things to improve.

It's clear that the Jeets in charge of MS code now can't deal with 30 year old legact C++ shit and it's not even their fault. It's C++, if you weren't there when it was written, you have no idea what insane invariants the code implicitly has.

Finally, somebody will make a good Linux desktop. No more of these shitty hobbyist distros like CachyOS, Mint, and MX Linux.

We will leave Windows and even some of those Linux distros for Google's desktop OS in 2026.

I currently have had a PG32UQX for 4 years now. I feel like nothing comes close to really. I don't want an OLED. Sure I usually only use it at 5-30 brightness depending on the time of day. The tide is turning. Microsoft just announced they are going to turn their OS into AI slop in order to rewrite everything.
Valve is about to entrench Linux as a solid choice for gaming with their upcoming Steam machine.

ARM, Android, and even simple hobbyist Linux devices like the raspberry pi have been chipping away at Windows + x86 dominance for many years now. Many people who don't currently use Linux are familiar with it enough now and could tolerate using it if they had to.

Valve is going to usher in the next era. Laptops and even custom desktop PCs will be built without x86. Apple is promoting the processor transition right now. Consumers want efficient, low power, low heat processors that don't drain battery life. Have you used a new MacBook lately?

Windows only games will be made for a little longer but Linux compatibility through Wine will be made increasingly official and reliable. Finally, the end result is going to be a Unix future. Tech illiterates will own a Mac. Serious PC gamers will run Linux. This future will be made possible by Valve and Apple enabling consumers to walk away from Microsoft without turning back.

>Nvidia plans to start its cuts by targeting its RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and RTX 5070 Ti. Targeting the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB makes sense, as this GPU has the same amount of memory as an RTX 5080, a much more expensive GPU. The same is true for the RTX 5070 Ti. It’s memory could also be used for more profitable RTX 5080 GPUs.
