Tech didn't just look nice but forums were more abundant and you eventually had things like MiiPlaza, Near and Streetpass. Flat design didn't just kill nice looking technology but it killed the open nature of technology entirely. Contemporary social media might seem social but it's mostly just people getting engagement farmed. Websites as we knew them also aren't a thing anymore.
