Yes, you can just do a default install with the pre-selections in tasksel which will give you a nicely complete GNOME system, and first boot will walk you through the GNOME tutorial. It's THE UNIVERSAL OPERATING SYSTEM.

no, i keep saying this, but debian is not as retard-proof as fedora, it doesn't try to be your babysitter but it also doesn't shy away from giving you all the power, acquire at least a year of experience in linux before venturing into debian.

also, if you are aligned with the distribution's proposal, you will have the best linux experience; otherwise, stay away, because you will have the worst possible experience.
>>

If you can read this and understand what it means then you're good. In particular if you can understand what a Frankendebian is, and know how to avoid creating one then you're ready.
>>107638245
Pretty sure modern Debian's installer will automatically give you sudo if you don't create a root account just like other distros do.

Share comfy software that can't be found anywhere else but on Windows, software whose minimal dependencies allow compatibility with versions of Windows as old as XP.

I'll start with Miranda NG.
>multi-protocol instant messaging client
>IRC, Jabber, Telegram, Disc*rd etcetera
>multi-document interface
>extensible through plugins
>free as in freedom

You must read the switch guide in the OP from start to finish before you can decide whether to buy blue or brown switches
>>
>>107639294
You can get better switches than the bog standard cherry mx ones, it's no longer 2010 where mx red/black/brown/blue were basically the only easily available options.
>>
>>107635416
I am on loonix...
>>
>>107639294
browns suck so much ass as tactiles that they're basically the same as reds and 90% of people find clickies annoying, so I would say brown or red

just make sure whatever you're buying has a hotswap pcb so you can experiment with other switches in the future. I recommend HMX tactiles.
>>
>>107639340
you can use blues for gaming, they're just going to be more annoying to listen to

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

It doesn't have to be a better experience than all Windows since 95. It just has to be a better experience than Windows 11. People will tolerate a fair deal of jank in exchange for a system that runs faster with less bullshit in the background, not nagging you to sign into shit you don't want, and not constantly trying to sell you subscription services you don't want.

Lowkirkenuinely my life would not be even a little bit different if technology just stopped in 2007
By 2007 we had
>iPhone
>The 7th gen of video game consoles, the final generation to make any new game ideas that weren't possible before possible, and also the PS2 was still relevant so we still had sovl
>SSDs and fiber-optic cables, though unaffordable at this point, I assume if tech remained static they would eventually become affordable
>Hatsune Miku
Genuinely what has the benefit been of moving past that? Data centers that pollute the air and raise my electricity bill? I don't even use ChatGPT because it's wrong all the time. I think the only AI thing that's actually useful to me is AI translation tools I can use to translate doujins on the fly.
