Myopic view and typical reddit. I would imagine that the majority of that type is like 1% of its use and used as a demo for industrial Hollywood use and beyond that in varying factors like training data on user advertising data etc among a facial recognition and other corporate firms. Including financial that probably try to determine markets etc.

Which should scare people planetwide. It's not as if actual disasters don't happen sometimes. Even without any foul play, if their facilities somehow got wiped out, there would be a step back until it could be recreated. Simply having design and production documents backed up somewhere else isn't anywhere near enough.

Two businessmen are walking down the street and pass by a pile of dog shit. One of them turns to the other and says "I'll pay you $100 if you eat that shit".

The other thinks about it and eats the dog shit.

Continuing their walk, the second businessman sees another pile of dog shit and makes the same offer to the first. The first also agrees, and eats the dog shit. They walk on.

After a while the second businessman says to the first "it feels like we're both worse off than we were before eating shit".

The first replies: "impossible! We just increased our economy by 200$

My curiosity persisted so I made another go and successfully got AntiX installed/configured to reasonably close to my own Debian setup (base +Standard System Utilities + xorg/Openbox).

I used the AntiX Core iso which is the closest thing to Debian netinist in that it's no X, WM, DE, but does have an essential install that includes WiFi to build from. There are obviously differences of package inclusion/exclusion, but I don't know what they all are, only ones that are readily nooticable on the surface. A very few examples is that the Openbox package doesn't include ObConf, htop is included, I tried to install mc but it was already there, ufw was already in it,

I mentioned the "arcane feeling UNIXy toolkit" (my description) that it has during installation, antiX-cli-cc I think was the command to get to it. That's how I got WiFi set up before getting started installing, and it's a very nice and interesting aspect of the total experience.

xinput set-prop <device number> "libinput Tapping Enabled" 1 didn't work until I discovered antiX assigns a different number to my touch pad. The struggle with that was one of the reasons I noped on the first install attempt, just figured I didn't want to go to the trouble of solving it, but did the work on this one and it's TAPPIN'.

It boots to Openbox at a little over 300 meg of RAM use.

I have some doubts I'll stay in it for long, it's just not as tight of a ship, but at least for now I get to enjoy being proudly anti-fascist magical anitcapitalista systemd resistance revolutionary n sheeeeeeeeeiiittt.

KEK
just discovered it doesn't have scrot pre-installed.
>>
>>107670251
Whatever here's the shot.
>>
>>107670342
OK, figured I'd try antiX-cli-cc on an already installed system, and sure enough, here it is. But, it's a little bit visually different than the pre-installation, as that one is a vertical list.

I think I may have figured out how to fraudently pass off AVIF images as video inside a WEBM container.

ffmpeg -i 1.avif -c:v copy 1.webm & ffmpeg -i 2.avif -c:v copy 2.webm
ffmpeg -i 3.avif -c:v copy 3.webm & ffmpeg -i 4.avif -c:v copy 4.webm & ffmpeg -i 5.avif -c:v copy 5.webm
(echo file '1.webm' & echo file '2.webm' & echo file '3.webm' & echo file '4.webm' & echo file '5.webm') > filelist.txt
ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i filelist.txt -c copy 12345.webm

5 pack of AVIF images (125 KB): https://files.catbox.moe/ei4qf6.zip
those 5 AVIF images converted to a fraudulent (but playable) WEBM (124 KB): https://files.catbox.moe/5r19yu.webm

There's 1 problem though, I have no idea how to reverse this process.

Your autism made an invalid video file. Try exporting PNG images named 1.png 2.png 3.png to an AV1 webm first. Something like

ffmpeg -framerate 1 %d.png -c:v libsvtav1 -crf 30 -g 1 -pix_fmt yuv420p autism.webm

And then

ffmpeg -i autism.webm -c copy %d.avif

Holy shit, that was the clue. You're a god damned genius. I figured out the other part, apparently image2 expects PNG/JPG, a proper image format but if you switch it on before the output it'll export AV1 video data anyway lol.

ffmpeg -skip_frame nokey -i in.webm -c copy -f image2 %d.avif

Bad news, the colors don't match and CICP has now changed. However the good news is SSIM = 1 so the raw YUV data is in fact lossless here.

ffmpeg ignored CICP...

Not true, they want api keys for Gemini, grok, OpenAI or whatever closed source slop they can find, don’t you remember when they were shilling for that anime grok girl? The only open source shit they use is stable diffusion or similar stuff so they can generate loli anime pornography slop.
Also, some of them shill AI as if it was the great equalizer but they never create anything of value, just polluting slop.
>>
>>107670338
there's more than one person on /g/, it's also possible to like some ai stuff and not others.
there's a difference between a thread about running local models that talks about hardware, training and the like, and this "your year with chatgpt" which shouldn't be on /g/ at all, as there's no technology discussion
>>
>>107670366
This is why there should be AI board. People were asking for it back in 2022 and AI only became more invasive into everyone’s lives.
>>
>>107670366
>theres more than one person on /g/
True but it seems that most original /g/entoomen left and now we have Indian tourists.
>local models
I agree that threads about local models are fine including their hardware and optimization, however, those threads are quite small compared to Ai baits, Ai shills, aislop pornposting, etc
Most threads about Ai aren’t even discussing about technology itself, and /g/ is filled with those threads
>>
>>107670376
yea, an AI board is something i'm surprised hasn't happened yet
oh and i do also agree that threads full of mostly generated images with little discussion also shouldn't be here, there are other boards for that

My experience with Scarlett devices is that their drivers are horrendous and unstable beyond comprehension in the modern computing landscape and I would never suggest anyone to inflict themselves with that pain.

I don't know if the small interfaces like that one use standard USB audio drivers or if they also need the special sauce custom driver. You should do some research on that I guess, if it needs the special Focusrite driver then stay the fuck away.
