Unfortunately, until you can come up with a solution to keep bots at bay that doesn't involve identifying oneself one way or another, there isn't much we can do, is there? That's the biggest threat currently, because without it, we can always find small little communities with sensible people who actually put thought behind the things they say and do. Bots have the ability to ruin those easily, and they just grow in number as time flies by.

>once again markers of value
When exactly were they markers of value? Enough people, young and old, eat up the AI slop that is output to YouTube and similar websites these days, and they seem perfectly happy with that. It's just so easy to create that it fulfills this particular population's need for constant stimulation and instant gratification. It creates addicts. How do you cure them?
>>
>>106871488
There is no single cure for the compulsive consumption of algorithmic content, because it functions like an attention addiction sustained by design rather than willpower. The only effective approach is structural: redesign the environments that monetize distraction. Platforms could introduce friction by limiting autoplay, infinite scroll, and feed loops, while regulation could treat exploitative attention design as a public-health issue similar to nicotine or sugar. Education must emphasize media literacy and cognitive self-defense from childhood, helping people recognize manipulation before it takes hold. Cultural incentives also matter; if restraint, conversation, and boredom regain social value, shallow stimulation loses appeal. Rehabilitation comes not from moralizing detachment but from rebuilding systems that reward depth over dopamine.
>>
>>106871658
I understand what you mean and it makes sense to me, but do you see real movement in that direction? Companies delivering algorithmic content make a living off its success, and they have grown to such sizes their lobbying in Congress has a palpable grasp on the legislation that passes through the house. They stand to gain nothing from introducing friction, and it seems society doesn't want to make that jump either: the nail that sticks out is always struck by a hammer. No social media? Suspicious. Not consuming copious amounts of short-form content? Weirdo. Not following the latest trends? Boring, nothing to talk about, or at least nothing that the average person can add to.

Regulation is probably not going to appear until we see devastating consequences to these platforms, and even then one might argue it could be too little too late. I hope I'm wrong and that more and more of us value and seek real depth, anon, but from where I'm standing the future looks bleak.

>>106870487
ehhh beats boredom
>>
>>106870423
Yes but not the way you think- most people are so stupid and prone to 24/7 propaganda there's no need to engage automated bot farms. Enjoy, retard.

Didn't see a qtddtot.

I bought a cheap second hand laptop (Dell XPS 15 9560 with a non-functional battery) for my cousin since his parents are fuck ups who pawned their computer for booze money. I've never opened a laptop before but I figured putting a new battery in can't be too hard.

Anyway, this is what it looked like when I popped the back off.
Am I right in assuming all that pinkish-grey stuff between the fans and the (I think) vents from the heatsink is dust that I can safely brush off with a toothbrush or pull away with a pair of tweezers?
Right now my plan is brush away the worst of the dust then just blast the whole thing with a can of compressed air. Is there anything I should know before that? Any parts I should be careful of?
Anything else worth doing before I hand the laptop over to him? There's some brown gunk that's hardened on the inside of the laptop case, maybe thermal paste? Don't know if that's worth replacing.

I was thinking of how you would prevent abuse. Invite only but how do you prevent inviting yourself or abusing that. With a trusted system maybe some score or ELO you could also allow posters to delete other posters their posts. Delete post -1 points or something. Maybe you can prevent invite abuse by requiring two invites for one person from different lineages.
>>
>>106871409
I think the 4chan UI is already perfect because Im not a redditor
>>
>>106872236
What if
Have 2 blacklists, 1 for invites and 1 for posting, then do tree bans (everyone under the banned inviter gets invite rights taken away).
>>
I like how there's no obvious page/thread/post limit. It's bound only by the area and zoom.
Interesting implication, that an instance could theoretically last a long time and contain every post without pruning. Like some text and imageboards do but using coordinates rather than page numbers.

You could probably synthesize both too. Like create logic that maps an analog of page numbers to something like a zone on the map so that people could click some anchor/link like "gamer zone" instead of "page 2" and it would jump to a cluster of game related threads that were placed near each other.
>>
>>106872270
I think that's too lenient. The other way around of banning the person who invited those too makes people more careful of who they invite.

Weve entered a stagnation. Everything thats out now was invented in 20th century. Even ai, the algorithms for it were literally talked about in 5l60s but didnt have the commute to execute them.
Turing test. Hard drives. Touch screens. You thought steve jobs invented touch screens for iphones. Nope its 80s military tech.

So that leaves the question. Can /g/ name ONE, thats 1, tech thats 21st century exclusive AND doesnt use computers? Doubt you can. 21st century has had 0 innovation in technology.

Faggot retard is just mad we don’t have society that looks like Jetsons that’s it. And the reason why we don’t have that society has to do more with other problems aside from stagnant technology. The first problem is that lot of the concepts invented by 20th century futurists are fucking retarded genuinely. Flying cars as an example are probably the single dumbest idea anyone ever had, they would consume too much energy to go around and be too unsafe for your average driving school retard to operate. We already have helicopters which are by all means car-shaped and sized vehicles that fly and are very rarely used for almost anything. The second and more important aspect is material wealth. We don’t have sci-fi buildings because sci-fi buildings are expensive to build, that’s it. We use almost 100 year old infrastructure with minor occasional upgrades because it works and we don’t have infinite money and resources to rebuild everything. This is why developing countries or countries that were developing recently like lot of Asian countries look more sci-fi, because they build their metro stations recently and made it look modern. The only things we don’t have because of technological limitations are AI, robots and fusion. Fusion is just hard to do outside of Suns and AI and Robots as it turns out are less like Star Wars buttlers and more like R.U.R. unemployment existential nightmare which we probably shouldn’t be making.
>>
>>106871895
Tech that doesn't use computers? You're fucking stupid, I hope you know that. It's at least something you have in common with Thiel, you both try to sound smarter than you actually are.

Why would anyone avoid using computers, given the efficiency gains? I was going to say something like high-throughput sequencing of the genome (e.g. Illumina) but with a stupid requirement like that, basically everything invented post 2000 isn't valid.

Advancements in med tech? All irrelevant, they either used computers/AI in synthesis (e.g. targetted drugs, sgRNA in CRISPR editing, LNPs) or in processing (advancements in imaging).

Aerospace? Basically all new-gen aircraft use high-spec on board computers for AI guidance systems.

Productivity? All intellectual labour relies on computers. I guess factories have seen efficiency gains due to new machines, but no breakthroughs there.
>>
>>106872018
Thats the issue we are living in 1920 wood houses still instead of jetsons i agree with thiel life is gay
