Yeah, NixOS is very gay.

>atleast nixos starts you off with a functional desktop with wifi,a browser
Unless you actively chose to not install a DE through the graphical installer, you have stock firefox and a prebuilt kernel ready to use right after logging in. Use that to RTFM and learn how to install a guix daemon on your real computer and offload the builds to it
>>
>>108112696
i picked sway
and yea they give you a kernel that cant run wifi so you need to go looking for a working kernel which it starts compiling and probably takes weeks
>>
can nix and guix stop all the fighting and just agree that everyone else is the problem?
>>
>>108112855
Both are based in my opinion, though I prefer GNU Guix, and I rather to use an OS that uses an actual programming language, that I can later make use of, rather than some unknown shitty language that I can only use to make packages for Nix. Nixos is also good though, because it has way more packages and more people use it.

Theoretical AI Agentic TUI 3D-Graphic VR/AR OS Concept
Name: ScanLine OS
A agentic AI-driven OS in a 70s CRT scanline terminal aesthetic. Navigates via retro TUI with raycasted 3D visuals using procedurally generated, syntax-highlighted characters per frame. Runs on any GPU via emulators; fully open-source.
Features:
Display: Emulates CRT scanlines, glow, distortion. Output as ANSI/ASCII + colors at 30-60 FPS.
3D Rendering: Software raycasting for pseudo-3D envs/objects in char grid. Glyphs highlighted by depth/lighting/AI state. E.g., agents as animated sprites in filesystem maze.
AI Core: Swarms of agents (LangGraph/AutoGen) for autonomous tasks: file mgmt, browsing, coding. Interact via NL prompts or VR/AR pointing. Agents self-spawn/improve.
GPU Support: CPU fallback; accelerate with Vulkan/OpenGL emulators.
VR/AR: OpenXR integration; spatial CRT screens, holographic agents. AR overlays retro UI on real world.
Open Source: 100% FOSS (MIT/GPL). Linux/BSD base, Rust/C raycasting, Python AI (ONNX/tinygrad). No blobs/telemetry.
Why? Retro-cyberpunk + AI power without bloat. Procedural desktops, AI filesystem inhabitants.
Build It: Prototype raycast TUI + agent loop. GitHub repo for collabs: raycasters, AI devs, retro/VR hackers.
Thoughts? Hack on this?
I don't have the tech, Never will
If it can be done, It should be at least tried, Maybe not with 70s retro style, Maybe 4k? I dont know

Truth nuke. First ones there will absolutely be the guinea pigs. Then when they have a much safer facility deeep underground or deep into a crater they'll have the less desirable living quarters closer to the surface to understand the limits.

Mars might not be soo bad if they make DUMBS deep inside the martian mountains, but that glass dome city shit will be a total sci-fi pipedream.
I'm just going to stay on a planet with a magnetic field, feels proper. Anything outside that is just asking to be soaked in cosmic radiation/particles one day and to be killed by these forces. You don't want to be out there period, outside of a magnetic field of any sort.
I like to think of the planets like cells, us like the mitochondria in a cell and the magnetic field of our planet is the last shell of protection encompassing our planet. we can't bust out the cell and roam about outside unless we wrap our mitochondria vessel in the same "protective" layer as cells have.

Just tested this as an alternative for Discord and have to say it's actually pretty good. Encrypted chats, voice and screen share with unlimited quality and bitrate and you can host your own server if you want. It's open source and partly compatible with Matrix (devs claim they are working on making it fully compatible). Why did nobody of you faggots mention this as a Discord alternative before? Fuck Element, Teamspeak will be my future Matrix client.

>>

>>
>>108110410
I tried it when they dropped the beta last fall. It doesn't have basic functionality like a server admin being able to delete chat messages, or those chat messages being stored server side. I honestly think the only reason teamspeak 6 hasn't taken off is because the devs or the company are being funded specifically not to. That is the only logical reason that explains the complete dumpster downfall of teamspeak

what he left out is that he updated from debian bullseye to debian bookworm, which is still the version before the current release (debian trixie)...
so he's still 2+ years behind, the software on that server is from late 2022 to mid 2023
anyway morale of the story is don't use proxmox because proxmox is just debian anyway but with a bunch of guis and way less control
