Probably the best FSF endorsed distro out there. What are your thoughts on it, /g/?
>>108112438>this distro is gay afYeah, NixOS is very gay.https://nixos.org/branding/
>>108112438>atleast nixos starts you off with a functional desktop with wifi,a browserUnless you actively chose to not install a DE through the graphical installer, you have stock firefox and a prebuilt kernel ready to use right after logging in. Use that to RTFM and learn how to install a guix daemon on your real computer and offload the builds to it
>>108112696i picked swayand yea they give you a kernel that cant run wifi so you need to go looking for a working kernel which it starts compiling and probably takes weeks
can nix and guix stop all the fighting and just agree that everyone else is the problem?
>>108112855Both are based in my opinion, though I prefer GNU Guix, and I rather to use an OS that uses an actual programming language, that I can later make use of, rather than some unknown shitty language that I can only use to make packages for Nix. Nixos is also good though, because it has way more packages and more people use it.

Theoretical AI Agentic TUI 3D-Graphic VR/AR OS ConceptName: ScanLine OSA agentic AI-driven OS in a 70s CRT scanline terminal aesthetic. Navigates via retro TUI with raycasted 3D visuals using procedurally generated, syntax-highlighted characters per frame. Runs on any GPU via emulators; fully open-source.Features:Display: Emulates CRT scanlines, glow, distortion. Output as ANSI/ASCII + colors at 30-60 FPS.3D Rendering: Software raycasting for pseudo-3D envs/objects in char grid. Glyphs highlighted by depth/lighting/AI state. E.g., agents as animated sprites in filesystem maze.AI Core: Swarms of agents (LangGraph/AutoGen) for autonomous tasks: file mgmt, browsing, coding. Interact via NL prompts or VR/AR pointing. Agents self-spawn/improve.GPU Support: CPU fallback; accelerate with Vulkan/OpenGL emulators.VR/AR: OpenXR integration; spatial CRT screens, holographic agents. AR overlays retro UI on real world.Open Source: 100% FOSS (MIT/GPL). Linux/BSD base, Rust/C raycasting, Python AI (ONNX/tinygrad). No blobs/telemetry.Why? Retro-cyberpunk + AI power without bloat. Procedural desktops, AI filesystem inhabitants.Build It: Prototype raycast TUI + agent loop. GitHub repo for collabs: raycasters, AI devs, retro/VR hackers.Thoughts? Hack on this? I don't have the tech, Never willIf it can be done, It should be at least tried, Maybe not with 70s retro style, Maybe 4k? I dont know
You're retarded for wanting an Ai agent/Agentic shit anywhere near an operating system and clearly got most of this post from some LLM somewhere. This is probably the most embarasing thread I have seen all week.

I'm just going to stay on a planet with a magnetic field, feels proper. Anything outside that is just asking to be soaked in cosmic radiation/particles one day and to be killed by these forces. You don't want to be out there period, outside of a magnetic field of any sort. I like to think of the planets like cells, us like the mitochondria in a cell and the magnetic field of our planet is the last shell of protection encompassing our planet. we can't bust out the cell and roam about outside unless we wrap our mitochondria vessel in the same "protective" layer as cells have.

Have the goys stopped their subs to creative cloud cause of AI ?
>>108108689Haven't used Photoshop for anything since AI made it so much easier
They're discontinuing Animate, which a lot of companies actually use.
>>108108788Good point. I feel like I haven't heard the "this pic is shopped" in years. These days it's "this picture is AI". Bad days ahead for Adobe.
Normies don't use Adobe anymore, they use Canva, CapCut, ChatGPT.And the pros are jumping ship too. Davinci Resolve is good and free. Affinity is now free too. GIMP 2 finally released and finally supports non destructive effects. Everyone is tired of their shitty business model.
>>108113030>Normies don't use Adobe anymoreThey never did. People edited photos in paint or in their phone gallery.
Just tested this as an alternative for Discord and have to say it's actually pretty good. Encrypted chats, voice and screen share with unlimited quality and bitrate and you can host your own server if you want. It's open source and partly compatible with Matrix (devs claim they are working on making it fully compatible). Why did nobody of you faggots mention this as a Discord alternative before? Fuck Element, Teamspeak will be my future Matrix client.
>>108110812The Discord facial verification uses your webam video though. How do you insert this fake face stuff in place of the actual webcam data?
>>108112628virtual camera obviously
>>108110410I tried it when they dropped the beta last fall. It doesn't have basic functionality like a server admin being able to delete chat messages, or those chat messages being stored server side. I honestly think the only reason teamspeak 6 hasn't taken off is because the devs or the company are being funded specifically not to. That is the only logical reason that explains the complete dumpster downfall of teamspeak

Slackware or PCLinuxOS. Maybe OpenMandriva.
MX Linux. I like that it is Debian based, systemd is optional, it’s portable, and it’s easy as hell to use with some nice tools out of the box

Was this the correct course of action for updating the servers, /g/?
>debian 11became stable august 2021>debian 12became stable june 2023so he hasn't updated his shit in 2.5 years? and why not just uninstall proxmox if he doesn't want it? or do a fresh install and copy the data over
>>108112203Opportunity cost.

>>108112203>infrastructure you need to serve whatever you're doing costs $10k/h>backend goes down for 10 hours>when the backend is down revenue drops to $0/h costs stay at $10k/h
>>108106130what he left out is that he updated from debian bullseye to debian bookworm, which is still the version before the current release (debian trixie)...so he's still 2+ years behind, the software on that server is from late 2022 to mid 2023anyway morale of the story is don't use proxmox because proxmox is just debian anyway but with a bunch of guis and way less control
I'm developing software (embedded) for our family buisness. That + I help assembling stuff we sell and my dad pays me a little above average where I live. The easiest way to earn something solo is to be an engineer/embedded dev and you need a unique idea.
>>108111533For the most part they don't, companies do.
>>108111533>release popular app>charge 99 cents for itI know a dev whos made a couple of grand off one one of his apps
if you look on android theres a dozen different file managers and ftp servers and other similar apps. they all do the same thing but they push ads or charge to unlock more features. those guys make millions for what is effectively a basic OS feature thats standard on linux or windows.
>>108111533>build app (doesn't matter what it does)>release it for free>get millions of users (this step matters)>ads>more ads>even more ads>microtransactions>more microtransactions>microtransactions to unlock further microtransactions (might be the most important part)Good luck this works out for far less than 1% of all apps and its still the only real way to make money.
