Companies did this to themselves when they started accepting applications online from everywhere in hopes of being able to find a FAGMAN engineer that's somehow in Stinky Creek, Montana who's willing to work for pennies.
Hire locally and require screening interviews to take place at your company's physical office. 99.99999% of third world shit is instantly eliminated.
>But I read this article about this guy who hired this other guy to go to the interview for him at the company's office.
Only possible when employers refuse to use e-Verify upon physically seeing the candidate. And if you make it policy you must work on-site for the first three months as a probationary period, you eliminate even 99% of that edge case.
Companies, especially the recruiters and HR, don't want to do this because it's more work that sitting in an office all day playing with an ATS while hiring managers dream of getting a 0.01% engineer for minimum wage.

>>
>>108512735
That'd prevent people from applying to faraway jobs, unless the company's covering your stay for the week, and giving you time to move for real afterward.
>>
>all that shit for a job
Best I'll do is 2 interviews. The first one should be a Teams-style online interview. If they still like me and I still like them I can come over and do the next interview in person, on their travel cost of course, and if they still want me and I still want to be hired they can offer me a contract.

The second they start talking about me doing work for them, homework, or preparing cases in my spare time I'm out. You want me to work for you then you hire me.
I don't do freebies.

Yeah, *except that most software and/or even workloads do not exactly lend themselves towards parallelism*, especially if the threads constantly invalidate each others cache lines. I'll keep pointing to that Factorio story where they *tried* to implement multi-threading, ended up with *worse performance* than on a single thread, and gave up because fixing their shit would've required proper allocation placement.

Fast forward nine years, and nothing has changed.

Anons I'm a little retarded. Can someone break down practically what the leak really means for us the people? From my understanding we have the source code to only the cli. The cli essentially just being safe guards against naughty things. 7 different "please dont say nigger" and "please don't tell the user how to make a bomb" reinforcement checks. And we see the reporting used by searching for message keywords. But we can't hook up the cli, remove the checks on our end and have a now unfiltered Claude. What tangible thing do we have that we and not a competitor get from this? Is there a way to use the cli to get better RAG use for context? What is it they I, a mid to high level script kiddie can do with this. Or how far along are projects using this to hopefully deconstruct Claude into a usable open source application?

literally nothing. it wont help you to make anything, the model is the secret sauce not a cli that sends a prompt to cloud
>>
>>108512316
This is what i assumed. Though the interface could be nice. Is there nothing for context management in it though? All llms are stateless so its their tools that manage the context. Is it all done on the cloud with no mechanism in the code? Seems really inefficient.

seems a common occurrence for z390 boards, and the last BIOS update was in 2022, which I'm already running
I was originally planning to buy a cheap ryzen CPU/mobo for this so I might still go that route
alternatively I have my old 2500k cpu/mobo/ram I could get my hands on and build into a separate jellyfin box, though I was hoping to combine them
>>
>>108512816
bummer, well, if anything separation is good. I used to have all in a single server but things happened and I split it into multiple. I'm far happier with this setup
>>
>>108512689
couldn't you pass your igpu through to the vm to use for quicksync without running into this problem? waste of a gpu but it's still better than not having any transcoding

potentially, but I have extremely limited upload bandwidth (fastest plan on the only ISP in my area is 1200Mbps down / 35Mbps up) and I bought the B580 specifically for jellyfin and AV1 hardware encoder support, which the iGPU lacks
also in that case I would lose video output locally (I do occasionally use it for troubleshooting) and/or need to keep the b580 JUST for local video output
I'll probably put the 2500k in the truenas box and use the 8700k/b580 in a standalone jellyfin setup
alternatively, my original plan was to get this ryzen bundle from microcenter, but I cancelled when I realized the 5500 doesn't have an iGPU, however if I'm using it as jellyfin host with the b580 on windows that doesn't matter as I'll still have local video out
