the vast majority of people don't even need a laptop, they can use a tablet with a keyboard attached just fine. They're cheaper, smaller, more durable, and their charges last longer

Just tested this as an alternative for Discord and have to say it's actually pretty good. Encrypted chats, voice and screen share with unlimited quality and bitrate and you can host your own server if you want. It's open source and partly compatible with Matrix (devs claim they are working on making it fully compatible). Why did nobody of you faggots mention this as a Discord alternative before? Fuck Element, Teamspeak will be my future Matrix client.
if i have no friends, should i care?

any of u anons ever used a trackball mouse before? my elbow is completely fucked from using a mouse all day at work but the toil never ends so am trying to fix myself
>>108109661I used a logitech m575, kensington slimblade, mx vertical, apple magic trackpad. Everything will give you rsi if used too much, the trick is switching between various devices often. I settled with the mx vertical and the magic trackpad (yes it works on linux with full gesture support)
>>108109661I have a Deft Pro and I adore it. I felt like a retard spending so much money on a mouse, but it's a million times better. When I was picking which mouse to get I was particular about getting one I could articulate with my index and middle fingers, because I could easily imagine my thumb cramping up or getting numb if I were to try to navigate with it.
>>108111461is it linux compatible? website says only windows and macOS
>>108111513Works fine. I use over bluetooth on my laptop. I even set up the buttons to do things in my Emacs.
>>108109661I use an MX Ergo, it's not bad but go with a fingerball instead especially if portability isn't that big a deal. Thumbballs risk thumb strain
help me choose a distro.i am a longterm windows user, and i want to move to linux, my rig is very basic, 4060ti, 5 5600 cpu, 32gb of ram, so i think i can get by playing any games, but choosing is hard, is mint enough? i dont work on my desktop, but on a company laptop, so i primary use my pc for vidya and basic stuff, but vidya comes from steam and battlenet
>>108108211I would get mint if I were you, and just use firefox. Dig through the settings and disable the telemetry. If you're willing to tinker a bit (and nowadays AIs can help), I would try out fedora workstation.
I'm told cachyOS is good for gayming, but it's arch-based so I haven't tried it myself t. 20+ years on debian and derivatesI like mint and use it on several computers, but cinnamon just feels like a toy compared to kde
>>108108153I don't see a gaming use case for Wayland unless you are deliberately trying to lower your fps.Hyprland and Waydroid are currently the only reasons I can see for using Wayland at all.
Anyone on xubuntu have anything to say about it? I switched to mint after ubuntu got too bloated. But I'm not really a cinnamon fan. xubuntu is probably what I'll end up going to next.
>>108108139Yes, go with Linux Mint and ignore most of the replies. Mint is pretty good for beginners. You don't have to worry about Wayland and other stuff like that at this point. Try out alternatives and research the docs only if you really want to learn how it all works, or need a special kind of setup.

A lot of people, even oldfags, don't seem to know that if you put your email address in the Options field when submitting a post, you will receive an email every time someone replies to that post. It always astounds me when people who've been browsing this website for 15+ years don't know shit like this. I showed the Thread Watcher to a 40-something-year-old that claimed to have been shitposting here since 2007 and it blew his mind.

Hardware Security Keys. Scam or useful technology?
>>108111183When I used to work at a Google DC IDK how many people had dead keys.It was worse for contractors because we where only allowed one enrolled key and had to present to some Indian on Meet to set up our accounts again if it died.I still have like 3 of them but kinda afraid to use them as they aren't reliable clearly.

example where i = 0; i != even: infinity such as when the status (boolean) is no longer "alive", I mean the time AFTER the system has reached maximum entropy such as when k -/+ k = 0 the "possibilities" are no longer infinite but 0 (the opposite of complete entropy with the calculation including +1)... when k +/- k = 0 and entropy has reached its max, if k = +/- 0; = k +/- k (1 more "step") then (infinity + 1) = 0 & != even

Strictly speaking PCs hereMicroslop has been destroying Windows for yearsCopilot is invasive dystopian software, Windows has the fucking audacity to show you ads Linux is still Linux, will always remain a geek nichePC hardware prices are a complete shitfest and at the mercy of one if not the biggest AI-slop speculators in the world, NVIDIAWindows Laptops, the biggest % install base of PC users, are still shit on battery and massively overpriced at a premium that's not reflected on their build quality and performanceGaming is worse than ever, the market is saturated by post-woke slop and garbage releases, only 3-4 good games per year at this pointMost PC gaming is done through Steam, SteamOS is not Windows dependant, handheld market growing, eventually an important % of gamers will just rely on Steam Decks or Linux/Steam gaming boxesTruth is, by doing absolutely nothing after releasing a generational product 5 years ago, Apple now has the best PC hardware in the market, and hasn't even doubled prices "for market reasons" like all the other tech companies during the last year. You go into the store today and pay the same price you paid for the same relative product 5 years ago ($2000 for the base model current M Pro chip Macbook Pro). Mac Minis and Studios are even more insane, but I digress here. Can somebody here argue honestly with me if I'm totally wrong here? If you aren't addicted to gaming is there even a reason to stay with Windows machines nowadays?
>>108110535there will be no mac studio this year
>>108104383I'm pretty sure 99% of Mac hate just comes from two things:1. terminally online gamers being big mad that they are working computers and not toys for playing vidya2. Apple's corporate culture being woke faggot bullshit, which all of big tech is now, Apple was the pioneer though
