do you lock your computer when you go afk?

My computer locks automatically after 10s without any activity, so yes.
>>
>>108505080
Yes, even at home if I leave the house or go to sleep with my computer on, likely will never be useful but I like peace of mind; I don't want potential burglars to access my important data. I use disk encryption so they can't just boot into a different OS either.
Also if I die I don't especially want my family to check my weird porn and other extremely personal files.

ngmi, /a/‘s been the only board that’s been in the top ten for years now, all of the other anime boards have had less then 100 daily active posters. Thinking this site still caters to anime is delusional when /mlp/ has more activity and events then all 10+ anime adjacent boards combined (/cm/, /i/ etc)

do people like authenticator apps?

i broke my phone and got locked out of my bank, steam, post office and other things.
everysingle one needed an authenticator or some app i didn't have access to anymore.

i had to take out my sim and plug it into another phone to end up using the sms verification stuff, if i didn't have another phone, i'd be screwed.

do people enjoy this? like are jobs made solely for this so they won't go away?
I'm honestly so lost why things need to be so complex now, where just not having a single device causes so many issues
>>
No. Most people into tech are faggots and create security theater while selling your data to everyone and anyone they can

This happened to me once. I just opened my drawer and used the recovery codes I printed for every service and I got all my 2FA back.

How do I pipe the output of a command like sudo apt/pacman to the clipboard in fish (with or without fzf) similar to how st does? I’ve not managed to get this to work.
15 replies and 2 images omitted. Click here to view.

>>108505423
So? The other alternative is writing a shell function that does it. Since it uses fzf and is marginally useful, I'm half tempted to go ahead and vibecode it.

>>108505423
https://grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtMw_ca46e905-c858-43cc-8dd7-f1b661094c71

This is the solution Grok proposed. Alacritty doesn't really have a way of doing anything w/ the scrollback buffer, but you can do pretty much anything in wezterm with lua.
local wezterm = require 'wezterm'
local act = wezterm.action

-- Example: Run a custom script on the entire scrollback
wezterm.on('run-script-on-scrollback', function(window, pane)
-- Get ALL scrollback lines (plain text, no escapes by default)
local scrollback_rows = pane:get_dimensions().scrollback_rows
local text = pane:get_lines_as_text(scrollback_rows)

-- Option A: Write to temp file and run your script on it
local name = os.tmpname() .. '.txt'

Assuming you can turn this into a working test, the next step would be to retrofit the history function included with fzf in /usr/share/fzf/keybindings.<shell> to output your selection into the pipeline that finds that commands output.
>>
>>108507786
The st example should still work in fish if you update the ps1 and eps1 variables to match your prompt.
>>
This is trivial to do in tmux. But running that over your normal emulator can have some qol drawbacks if you want fancy stuff like pictures and underdotted lines.
tmux capture-pane -pS - | /path/to/your_script.sh

4chan has been mostly bots and non-organic posts for many years, even before AI. /gif/ was found to be at least 42% bot posts and the rest are coordinated by a discord group. /pol/ is almost entirely bot posts or done by JIDF/other government related groups. This is easily verifiable by checking how many posts an ID makes. If the OP makes only 1, it's 100% a bot thread or by JIDF. Here it's mostly bots spamming the same shit 24/7 and of course the rest is a combination of jewtube channel & corporate advertisers. The same applies to /tv/.
>>
>>108507791
> even before AI
It was not really before. Before it went mainstream maybe. But deep learning was BIG in like 2017 already. And I strongly believe governments had this tech for a long time, maybe since 2000's. Because supercomputers existed back then already. Perhaps Russians had it since at least early 2010's.

It was nothing like it is now in terms of scale and quality. But Internet was smaller and tech like that was beyound imagination, so everyone believed it was organic.

I didn't know about typecase and friends until you mentioned it. My desire for checking the type is for correctness rather than speed, so I decided to try to manually do it.
(defmethod load-resource ((src vector))
"Interpret `src' as a vector of plump-dom elements."
;; Manually type check contents of src to make sure
;; they're all of type plump-dom:node.
(loop for el across src
do (etypecase el
(plump-dom:node el)))

You can't actually hear it from more than a couple of feet away. I used to sit about 3m back from my 8 inch monitors and only even knew they hissed because I put my ear right up against them one time for some unrelated reason. Now I have them at my desk right next to me and it's enough that it's annoying, I turn them off whenever I'm doing something that doesn't benefit from good quality audio.

my cheap active speakers have been silent ever since I switched my DAC but I also didn't ramp up the volume too high. The devices itself can cause it, the cabling, some ground loop, the power supply. There is a whole market for all this selling "audiophil" versions of everything which is usually just overpriced snake oil.
>>
>>108487257
Personally i just use an old sony micro hifi unit that has aux in as speakers.

He is a fucking autist. Autistic people (aspergers) don't care what other people think, they may say controversial shit just because they base their opinions on logic rather than emotions, this doesn't necessarily mean that this guy must be a pedo but normies love labeling such people as pedos if they dare to say something controversial.
