So your parents know you are transitioning finally. I would say that must have made Christmas awkward but they had to know it was happening if they knew you were after a mac.

You're telling me, the entire infrastructure of the Internet that relies on this single service ran by a bunch of pajeets while also already proving that the entire service is not stable and has demonstrated that it can crash at a moment's notice, and NO ONE has decided to make an alternative?

Ofc its curry. They are trying to abstract the hard stuff away from retarded devs.

Please understand, we've already fired all the people who could maintain our on prem servers.
Now, no matter how much Amazon squeezes our balls by increasing prices and lowering SLAs from 99.99999% to 99.2%, there's simply nothing we can do but to use them even more.

Are these things even worth it anymore? I have the original 8GB pic related. Now the 16GB is almost $170 and the HAT is pretty useless though its done a 2x street price since launch. I could get a lattepanda or something. I like the idea of a Pi5 16GB: enough memory and processor to run better/larger LLMs off 2.5W at ~1 token/sec. Even a solar battery. It's cool to have a philosopher in a box like that. The tinker side GPIO and stuff doesn't interest me for personal projects. Anyway should I just get a Jetson Nano or N150 or something.

I was about to point you to some fanless N150 options but I noticed that they have literally doubled in price since I purchased them for myself earlier this year... So maybe Pis are back on the menu for as long as they can withstand the RAM shortage...

the amount of attack surface reduction from running vmm on openbsd and using qubesos is nowhere near. can't expect it to be known by retards from yesterday's thread that don't even know the meaning of a hypervisor and only installed openbsd on their machine to LARP
>>107670790
netbsd doesn't and probably won't ever get major security enhancements since m00nbsd who was responsible for almost anything done on netbsd like kaslr and nvmm left. netbsd didn't have those until he did it and he was like the only one who cared and capable to know it and he implemented few things influenced from PaX. netbsd doesn't have backward/forward-edge CFI-like mechanism and myriad of other mitigations existing on modern systems. I doubt it even has the latest cpu mitigations now. openbsd albeit being filled with not-so-much useful mitigations that steal your cpu cycles and still lacking in security, is the only *bsd I would touch on a daily drive system maybe outside of HardenedBSD.

How do they have so many packages? Do they compromise on security?
>>
>>107670009
They're auto generated and nix has tooling to pull directly from git. Look at the build scripts they're all the same.
>>
Most of the packages don't actually work since they auto generate most of them and don't do any code review or testing. They focus on quantity over quality in order to attract new users with the sheer number of packages.
>>
>>107670009
>Do they compromise on security?
Yes, they don't give a fuck about security. Last time when I checked their VIAL's derivation, they made an installation step that creates a udev rule that opens HIDRAW that lets anyone, at any given time, to write anything to your keyboard's firmware (like a malware or a keylogger). Which is the most naive and lazy way about doing this.

Other than better cameras, what is even the reason to upgrade anymore? I held S25, folds and newest iPhones in my hands in-store and they felt cheaper than this 7 year old masterpiece of a phone.

I still miss the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It was ergonomically perfect, fast, and useful for also accessing the pull-down notifications menu

At this point, I wont even use any desktop environment on linux if it isn't X11. Even XFCE is dead to me because it has wayland support. I will never support anything wayland based on linux.

I'll ask again:
Yes or no, is there a perceptible difference between HDR and SDR?

These elite books are the only ones worth buying

2170p netbook (ivy bridge ULV 11", up to i7-3687u)
2560p - sandy bridge 12,5" (absolutely cheapest option), igpu only
2570p - ivy bridge 12,5" igpu (hd4000) only
8470p - ivy bridge 14,1" dgpu option (Radeon HD 7570M)
8570p - ivy bridge 15,6" dgpu option (Radeon HD 7570M)
8770w - ivy bridge 17" dgpu option (up to Quadro K5000M). Also has MXM slot, so you can even place GTX 980m in it.

All (except 2170p) support eGPUs via expresscard, all support non-whitelisted WiFi cards such as intel 7260ac.
Cost is usually 40% lower than thinkpad equivalent. The ones with Radeon graphics are FULL HD+ resolutions easy to mod to IPS it’s a plug and play.
