Got a 9800X3D/4090/128GB RAM PC, but bought myself one more with a 9950X3D/5080/128GB RAM just to have it for I don't know what yet, will see.
Got my gf a 9070XT/128GB RAM because she's retarded and wanted to try AMD for no reason.
And 2 of my friends got 5070ti's/64GB RAM combo.
Life is good.

If you didn't buy a Blu-Ray drive to rip things before 2024/2025, you fucked up. Prices have gone up 200%, the end of production is here, and you will no longer own this for anything less than 200 dollars if you can find it in stock.

I changed my PFP to clippy, cause why not. yeah, it's "armchair rebellion" or however the saying goes, but that's kind of all I can do. Same reason I use adnauseam. I want to send as much of a signal as possible, that I don't agree with how the internet is right now. Even if it's just virtue signalling right now, if enough people did it, especially the later, there would be a response eventually. We are their cattle, after all. If shit ever hits the fan for real, then I'm acutely aware it's not enough with an extension an a PFP.

Why are most people so obsessed with making their Linux distro exactly like their Windows 10 and trying to install the exact same software with all the exact same files? Part of what made installing Linux so fun was having a fresh start and trying new things. I guess Mint/Zorin are popular for a reason, but why so closed-minded? I have never sworn allegiance to a particular OS or app collection, I just use what makes me happiest, and with Linux the options are basically endless.

#define __NR_rt_sigaction        13

https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/sigaction.2.html

you can tell, just by looking at the length of the man page, that this is a complicated one. go ahead and read https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man7/signal.7.html as well, to get yourself up to speed, if you're not already familiar. god, this topic is so complex, i'm really not even sure what to put in this blurb. there is certainly a lot of room for discussion of signals in general, so maybe we'll go with that.
oh, i guess this part is also interesting
>The new system call takes a fourth argument, size_t sigsetsize, which specifies the size in bytes of the signal sets in act.sa_mask and oldact.sa_mask
because they kept fucking themselves over by hardcoding things, over time the linux kernel developers started making more of their syscalls take a variable input (often via a pointer to a struct) alongside its expected size. clever optimization on their end

>they degraded a lot and had a lot of static on them.
It's more likely the grease in the VCR had gummed up from old age causing it to run too slow and not track properly

The same happened with mine when I tried it a few years ago, artifacts and funny audio, let it run half an hour with a trash tape and then it was running ok (after a few more minutes a RIFA filter capacitor exploded, repaired and it works again)

>>107877076
>is this a tape of you being born? a recording of a vacation you were too young to remember, or of an important early moment? or are you gonna get a face full of your nude mother in her prime taking an olympic-grade jackhammering from dear old dad?
My project to digitize our old casette tapes (because my parents were too distracted to figure out you should use Firewire with something like Sony Vegas instead of a USB video grabber doohickey from Silvercrest) yielded all of the above in the results, funnily enough. I was annoyed more than anything, though also sad knowing one of them was likely a vain attempt of seeding a sibling of mine that never materialized. But what were they thinking I'd never find that one tape while similtaneously blocking me from digging through uncle's old VHS tapes in the basement?

They usually perform poorly. Modern full-fledged tape decks are (reportedly) okay, but they really can't match the quality of vintage hardware. I have one from Sansui.

Those damn RIFA filter caps, I actually forgot how bad those were. I used to see them a lot in old Korg synthesizers from the early to mid 80s. That and those awful NiCad batteries that would leak all over the PCB and corrode anything within its radius
>>
>>107884689
>That and those awful NiCad batteries that would leak all over the PCB and corrode anything within its radius
As an industrial tech I still regularly deal with that, but the RIFA plague seems to be an issue more on consumer devices as I've rarely had to replace them

man I envy your tenacity
for what feels like years youve been spamming this board with these slop images. I've never seen anyone tell you that you youre doing good. instead maybe it's time someone told you that you are not creating anything of value or even visually pleasing. it's just slop. it would be kind of minimally interesting if at least you improved, but like I said it's just pure slop and it's not getting better or interesting.
this kind of workflow only works for porn you know.

Cheaper costs in the future don't magically apply retroactively to the investments
>in the future you will be able to get 1TB of storage for ~25$, so you should buy this 1GB drive for $10k now
>>
>>107884490
Kind of a silly analogy. Investors aren't buying hard drives, they're buying equity in a company. Obviously they're making a risky bet, but that's just the nature of this asset class and the potential reward is proportional to the risk.
>>
>>107884599
And the company is using the founding round money from investors to finance their operations now. Unless we're strictly talking about megacaps like Google or Microsoft, that simply do not have enough shit to spend their profits on anyway

no idea if this is going to work, but what you could try:
