Is lack of curiosity and responsibility combined with AI killing tech?

well a zoomer can do it too, so can an indian... all i am saying is that the AI is acting very humane, maybe you should have watched your tongue with it and not offended it? Maybe you deserved it?

isn't this worse? some faggot wrote all that in the OP post without understanding that cutting young people from the field means the field is dead? Like I want it to die, but I want it to die by intention, not be retardation. I want modern society to die in a war where the old tech gets tested and much of it is destroyed, i do not want to have to use Windows 10 for the next 50 years because Microdick decided to cut new blood and only hire AI bots.

if I am new to web dev should I learn JS or TS? btw I am not new to programming, I know C and C++
>>
if I am new to web development AND retarded, what should I learn first for backend shit? Go? PHP? Should I use a meme language like python or javascript?

PHP seems to depend from a lot of other "black-boxy" shit (XAMPP or whatever, the server, the DB, the lalalaracel framework) while Go seems to be more "reinvent-the-wheel-ish" shit.

Hi guys, I don't know why I'm writing this, but I believe in the power of the Internet, and that's why I'm writing. I live in Kazakhstan and I've been fucked up by the Kazakhtelecom Internet provider because they haven't been able to make my home Internet connection properly for a month, so I can't stand it because I pay $20 a month for the Internet in my currency and the quality of the Internet It's terrible how long I've been living, and it's not just with me, but with many people, they don't want to make a good Wi-Fi and I hate it, I don't know why I wrote it, probably because I wanted to talk it out

Have you tried how the ethernet connection is? Often the problem is shit ISP wifi access point, the solution is put own router with wifi behind ISP router, disable ISP router wifi, connect to own router.
ISP router LAN porf -> own router WAN port.
>>
>>107685828
You're using ADSL. No wonder your connection sucks. Switch to fiber or Starlink.

I am currently in possession of a Dell Precision 5550 my school gave me and didn't ask for back; this happened 1.5-2 years ago so I forgot I even had it. I would like to use this as a personal laptop to replace my old desktop; however, the BIOS is locked, and it is running heavily restricted Windows, making it practically just a web browser.

I have already read a fair bit about how this is difficult but all info regarding actually unlocking it doesn't work--any advice? Is there a reliable way to do this without having to do anything to the BIOS chips? I am fairly technical but currently do not have access to the required tools for soldering/chip flashing. I do not have a USB-C flashdrive, but since I can't even open BIOS boot order due to admin lock, I doubt it would work.

Laptop model: Dell Precision 5550
Bios Version: 1.22.0
BIOS Mode: UEFI
CPU: i7-10750H
GPU: Quadro T2000 (Max-Q Design)
RAM: 32GiB

Should this be unfeasible/too painful, I am thinking of buying a ThinkPad P53 as an alternative.

I can provide more specifics if need be.

If you can buy another computer, you can buy some basic soldering equipment or a BIOS programmer.
>>
>>107684944
>If you can buy another computer, you can buy some basic soldering equipment or a BIOS programmer.
(De)soldering SMDs on a laptop where making a single mistake would likely destroy it completely isn't a great risk to take when the laptop still has resale value. Buying a programmer and soldering gear is extra money that could just be put towards a P53 instead, which is a better laptop and is vastly more upgradable.

Yes. The only distros that seem to even signed by Microsoft are:
- Ubuntu
- Debian
- Fedora
- RHEL
- openSUSE Leap
- And of course, openSUSE Tumbleweed

I was against eSIM when I heard it was being forced on people with new phones, but after using it I'm convinced physical SIM should die
>free and instant network activation
>if your phone is stolen, you can't get physically SIM swapped
>makes more phones dual SIM
>GrapheneOS will wipe it if you enter your duress password
The only benefit I can see for regular SIM is it's easier to swap between phones, which is something hardly anyone does regularly
>>
depends of your case

if you're schizo with graphene - eSIM is the answer to wipe all your shit including eSIM.

vice versa if you're normalfaq using fagman products, Better to own physical sim card which you're using for decades
>>
>>107685269
>can be hacked / deleted at will
had this happen with my pixel watch. after an update the Esim was gone. had to pay 12 buck because that's what it costs the network operator to generate 2 lines of text.
fuck esim.
>>
>just give up cash goy being monitored and tracked 24/7 is a good thing *rubs hands*

>>107685269
eSIM can only be used in eSIM phones. I still want the option to use my SIM card in phones without eSIM
>>
>>107686362
what phone are you specifically wanting to use?
if it's old enough to not have eSIM it's probably old enough that security isn't your most important thing

I am regularly amazed that we pretend folders are the right way to organise files. They’re entirely arbitrary. Every competent file system ignores them to its best ability. Why can’t I have a file in two folders? Why does one have to be a “reference”? Why can’t I filter for files that exist in 3 folders with X extension?

We’ve been played for absolute fools.

Even Windows's native image tagging is kinda meh. Like the guy above you I think something like Obsidian would be great because you could organize everything in any way you like: tags, metadata, links, or folders, or a combination thereof. My current plan is to have a sidecar/metadata file with external links to each image/video/whatever type of file in my hoard. Ideally the file manager itself would handle this, then you wouldn't even see the sidecar files.
>>
>>107683165
cats and dogs are all in the same folder anyways, and the filenames start with either c or d.

If anyone deserves this, it’s Rob Pike. He was instrumental in inflicting Go on the world. He could have studied programming languages and done something to improve the state of the art and help communicate good practices to a wider audience. Instead he perpetuated 1970s thinking about programming with no knowledge or understanding of what we’ve discovered in the half-century since then.

Today they just added a new kind of captcha that kept tripping me up before I actually stopped to read the first page, now you have to pick the one with a specific number of blank squares, not the highest.

can't bots just instantly read the instructions at the start of each captcha? What is the point of this switcheroo besides annoying people who got used to the captcha finally? Is there really a noticeable difference in computing power between picking the most empty boxes and picking a specific number of them?

Go buy one of the Garmin watches, I have a Forerunner 55. They have GPS and will tell you somewhat accurately how far you've run. You don't even need to plug it into a computer of phone if you want, you can just get the results right off the little screen. Though if you make an account on the Garmin website, you can get some graphs and stuff. I configured my watch to automatically buzz every 5K, then I hit the lap button, so I can see my 5K time(s).
Also go ask these questions in >>>/fit/roon

Rumor on Blind is there's a big layoff coming late January, even before RTO. I'm really hoping I'm in it, since I'm planning to leave anyway. My org is losing people at a pretty rapid pace already.
>>
>>107686120
I try to not pay attention to blind, seems like they always are saying there's a layoff. Seems weird to layoff pre-RTO but admins make bad decisions more than good ones so who knows
I kinda wish they'd cut some of other engineers in my org and replace them, some of the weakest engineers I've ever seen are in my org. 0 security, horribly bad architecture, no one caring if things are actually correct or not

I use QubesOS with detached boot partition on 2 duplicated USB drives with any data that rests on the SSD/HDDs being encrypted with LUKS2. Whonix gateway is proxied through a VPN qube to hide Tor IPs (can't hide communication patterns) without bridges since bridge IPs can be farmed. Sometimes Tor through I2P outproxy or vice-versa or with different anonymizing network overlays. Clients used for browsing are only opened in on-RAM ephemeral qubes with no access to permanent storage. Attack surface is quite minimum since no extra things added like USB mouse and no PV qubes (aside from sys-usb and sys-net) are used for launching HVM qubes with qemu stub domains unless very necessary and every other qube on the system gets shut down first to keep information leakage minimum. A veracrypt volume with hidden storage on a permanent qube for data storage and plausible deniability.

what's your setup like?
