There were some attempts to make various flavors of BSD that worked as functional desktops, and they just never went anywhere. PC-BSD etc.

There were some other variants of Unix similar to Solaris but for specific companies. I think HP had one, maybe IBM too

Until when /g/oys will tolerate this programmed obsolescence? (linuxfags refrain to reply to this thread)

And you will fail.
I think more people should have tried harder back in the day, but realistically it's inevitable to reach it , the *best* you can hope for is to push it back a decade or two.
The problem exists outside of the scope of the internet, it's at the human layer and you're not going to be able to easily absent that. It's only time before someone thinks: I can make money orfa that....

>>107991074
So, not an internet, an intranet.

You don't.
You show them.

Use that to demonstrate the pace of advance, then use it to demonstrate how little control the hand computer affords the user compared to a laptop.
Make sure they are very aware it's the average everyday joe on the street accepting it that made it possible.

opencode depends a lot on the model to tool call with any reasonable success, a lot of models that were free last month are gone from their default provider now, so you either need to have 96gb+ ram and an expensive 4000 or 5000s card with enough vram to use a decent local model shell out hundreds of dollars in token fees every month.

>the user has to be an experienced programmer, the shatbot is no substitute for competency

It's what I observed after experimenting with LLMs as well: they can spot mistakes, provide implementation based on existing code draft or detailed description, but they won't help getting a coherent architecture for your software. Unless you specifically ask for it or follow a specific workflow.

I had surprising results regarding this kind of counseling. I still struggle when "going raw" without frameworks and easily fall in every software design traps despite being aware of them (tight coupling, lack of abstraction, no separation of concern, etc.). I currently rewrite a proof of concept program using Claude and it helps greatly to understand what was wrong with the original code, and suggests me alternative design to make it more easily testable. It's a great learning tool.

What astonishes me is that it doesn't suffer *too much* from the usual "sycophantic" affliction and can advise against something I mention.

And i want to give my ubuntu fock s circuit skin i guess. But if you break it you die.

Everyone on /g/ is smarter than me. The only circuit I understand is circuit city and a microcontroller could beat me in hand to hand combat. I couldn't generate an image with grok of me failing to install stable diffusion. Ham radios rape me every night. The only Pi Hole I understand is from that 90's movie. The only benchmark I understand was made by my dog. A friend let me try his VR and I saw nothing only to learn months later it required a computer plus I had it on backwards plus it was off plus it was a motorcycle helmet. I thought samaltman was a brand of mints because it sounds like Altoids. Then when I found out he's a person I thought Altoids was a meme to describe his followers. When I tried to mine a bitcoin my dick turned green and fell off. Never have I successfully paired a bluetooth device. Limewire used to uninstall viruses for me out of pity. Had to hire someone for this fucking captcha
This is a thread for /g/ retards I guess, I need friends

Kids learn stuff faster. My advice? Learn to script, rather than program. Scripting is way more powerful especially to a noob.
>>
>>107993004
I'm learning Python so I will probably make some scripts to automate stuff.
