Problems with Zig:

* The language and its standard library are unstable (change a lot)
* The compiler is unstable (will compile your code incorrectly, and you will find it difficult to impossible find such mistakes, depending on how well you know Assembly)
* Comptime arguments are basically equivalent to template arguments in C++ (Might as well use C++. It's uglier, but semantically similar)
* Zig is not actually memory-safe, even though it claims/implies that it is. Debug builds are about as safe as C/C++ built with memory sanitizers.
* Slow compile times (compared to C)

The good:

* It doesn't try to "gotcha" you as much when it comes to UB.
* More type system info about slices and pointer types. Not sure it's worth it.

they only do the bare minimum. its not like they buy your social media history. it is possible for companies to do this but i dont think anyone ever does
if you dont have outstanding debts, warrants, felony record, didnt lie about work history or diploma, then its clean
>>
>>107655461
>>107655483
I've always wondered, do they scan social media by your first name + last name + dob or just by the email in resume?
>>
>>107655776
to get an accurate answer on this its something you will have to read about. i dont know enough details to give you a perfect answer. theres different ways they do it though. recruiters will look up your current public history as part of their own personal screening, and then theres companies that utilize services provided by companies like lexisnexis which will offer historical social media posts and so on. the latter is more often used by government agencies, like state police and fusion centers. the way a broker like that amasses information is probably very complicated and involves websites selling the information directly.

but again i think the common practice is just recruiters looking you up manually with very simple methods. its also separate from the background check entirely i believe.

maybe another anon who has worked with or knows about the topic can provide some corrections
>>
>>107651550
saar, please redeem the ai
>>
>>107656118

Remember another lazy person is on the other side of that screening. They're going to run your credit/criminal, briefly scan it all and make sure you worked where you said you worked, make sure there are no felonies popping up, and only press any further if anything isn't adding up on there. If a job isn't showing up that you said you had they will want to call them and verify you worked there.

i actually like the stock T430 chicket better than the classic 7 row, i also don't mind the T480

is the T430 compatible with a modern OLED monitor? can i just buy a miniDP to DP cable and use it with my OLED monitor?

I was just going to ask where I can find a genuine German layout keyboard for a T460. The unit one would want is one manufactured by Liteon, but I have only found one so far and it immediately got sold. Ebay is full of scammers that in their title list the FRU of the desired item but send one that is merely a unit compatible as a replacement for the desired one.

Headphone prices don't make sense
>>
hello I passed here a year ago and then decided to buy audiotechnica ATH-M40x headphones as kind of a midrange budget choice, im back because they broke and with the warranty I got around 100€ to buy new ones but I see the audiotechnica are not listed anymore here

any buying advice? i want them closed, I listen mostly to music and videogamez, I got a steinberg IXO22, around 100€ budget, im a rym autist. I really want my headphones to be durable, not because I throw them around or anything like that but because im not really listening to flac audio files and I just know that most headphones are just fine.
>>
>>107651729
Mini XLR is actually the most robust connector type for headphones in my experience. Locking connectors like this one or the Hirose one DCA uses are better since they won't loosen and mini XLR is actually the more robust of the two imo. One of those Hirose ones in my Aeons actually has gotten a little loose over time meanwhile the XLR my LCD-2 uses is basically indestructible. Sennheiser used a single connector instead of one per driver though, which might be more convenient but makes getting a cable for them harder since you have to look for one specifically for that model. Audeze actually did something similar with MM-100 since it also uses some weird wiring and regular cables with that connector just won't work properly. Hate this shit, basically proprietary just for the sake of it. And two connectors means there's no wire going through the headband meaning repairs are easier since you can even have no headband and both drivers will work anyway. But Sennheiser always used proprietary connectors for their stuff, like with HD6X0 headphones.

Most obviously to encourage/pressure devs to stay productive and have something on their plate

Ostensibly to help them deal with their issues but nobody really likes it if you wait until the next day's DSU to deal with any pressing blockers

Most AGILE ceremonies are a waste of time. I honestly don't think this one is as long as people understand it isn't time to sit there and chat for 1-2 hours about someone's specific problem holding everyone else up, it's just time to check in and give updates and then go back to the work.

its literally coming from a FSB assessment you stupid moron. China isn't going to fucking invade Russia with soldiers you absolute fucking clown. it means China has more and more leverage over Russia and the latter will have to make concessions if they want to keep receiving support from the CCP in the future.
lots of Chinese nationalists are pressuring the government to get back Manchuria for example. China also managed to have Moscow rename some of its border cities with their original Chinese name.

Some femboy anon posted a thread here last night talking about how tired he was of using windows 11 and linux mint wasnt working for him so he ended up swapping to windows 7.

I didn't get to ask all the questions I wanted cause he disappeared and then the thread got deleted so I'll ask them here.

1. I only have one of those shitty external optical drives since pc company's stopped being cool and removed them, that should work fine if i have the windows 7 ultimate dvd?

2.When updating drivers they all say they wont be compatible, will it just be fine to download them and use them? if not where do I go for stuff like nvidia, amd, and other drivers I need?

3. apps like steam and others that say they don't work on windows 7, how do I get them to work? i'm a bit confused on everything.

I probably have a few more questions but I can't think of them right now and I have to get to work so I'll only be able to check this thread every now and then, thanks for any of the help

No security updates, no compatible software, doesn't work on modern hardware. Avoid. You can turn a modern version of windows into windows 7 usability wise. Just use openshell and ltsc and something like shutup10.
>>
>>107652834
>1. I only have one of those shitty external optical drives since pc company's stopped being cool and removed them, that should work fine if i have the windows 7 ultimate dvd?
Yes.
>2.When updating drivers they all say they wont be compatible, will it just be fine to download them and use them? if not where do I go for stuff like nvidia, amd, and other drivers I need?
You have to use insecure 3rd party updaters, if your hardware is newer than ~2018 it most likely won't even have a driver, so, you're fucked.
>3. apps like steam and others that say they don't work on windows 7, how do I get them to work? i'm a bit confused on everything.
Same as above, you have to rely on insecure 3rd parties, have fun logging in into a 3rd party Steam "fork" that is closed source on an already insecure OS.

>>107653033
>i have the tread saved where they went into detail on how to stay safe, etc. so i shouldnt have that problem.
No such thing as staying safe on there really, no matter how smart you are, or how aware you are, day 0 does not care about you, yes in 90% of the cases you have to execute it to do anything BUT you will have to rely on a lot of 3rd party "forks" of things of which you will have zero clue how secure they are.
>>
>>107655688
>3rd party Steam "fork"
That's not a thing. People just use an old version of steam or a the newest version with compatibility layer (open source if you want to check for botnets).

> BUT you will have to rely on a lot of 3rd party "forks" of things of which you will have zero clue how secure they are
For someone who (presumably) wants people to switch to Linux, you're awfully hostile to the stated purpose of libre software.

I got a genuine question, what kind of a PCs do people here have to get Windows 11 to work this badly? I was forced to use Windows 11 for 2 months and it loaded every single element instantly on a barely mid-range PC.
The UI is the least of it's problems imo
