If you really can't remember look up what 1TB cost back in 2010. You could get 10TB HDDs for affordable money not too long ago but I guess now those times are over.

Hard disks fare better than SSDs and other flash memory. At least the bits don't fade over a few years without power. The motor bearings seizing up over decades does seem to be an issue though, and the way they're built you can't access the bearings to oil them without opening the drive and taking the platters out.
M-Disc is a better option. They can be read in any reasonable optical drive, and last 100+ years. Of course 100 years isn't that long in the grand scheme of things, and optical drives are already going out of production.
Converting the data into a visual representation like QR codes or similar and printing that on microfilm could store it much longer, so long as the microfilm is stored in good conditions. Similarly with laser etching it into blocks of glass, which is probably more durable.

Still, nothing beats the longevity or accessibility of writing it in multiple commonly used human languages and carving it into stone tablets. Long after all current tech has turned to dust and microfilm spoiled or been destroyed in fires, someone will still be able to read one or more of the languages on those tablets.

China sells gazzillions of drones to Ukraine. It's a nothing burger, except for Yanks who now have to pay more. Thanks, Trump!
>>
>>107647390
REMINDER that the ban does NOT extend to government sectors. Police, firefighters, and forest patrol rangers are STILL allowed to buy Chinese drones, because American drones does NOT cut it.

Chinese drones getting banned ONLY affects the average consumer. Your farm workers now CANNOT buy DJI farm drones like the DJI Agras T50 which can water/spray pesticides in a concise pattern, so you must opt to buy tractors (that you CANNOT self repair and MUST subscribe to monthly) OR buy Palmer Luckey's shittier Anduril drones, which cost anywhere from x10-25 more.

Is chipmaking just luck?
Why can't anyone make Taiwan tier chips?
>>
Kinda, yeah. The physics and schematicking of semiconductors is fairly trivial compared to finding manufacturing processes that can deliver the required tolerances. That's true of most high-tech manufacturing in general. You get lucky a few cycles in a row and you can stay the world leader for years. TSMC is about 2 years ahead on logic and Micron is about 1.5 years ahead on memory. For what's currently on shelves, unsure of R&D. It wouldn't take much to flip it though, someone else getting lucky or the king getting one particularly difficult generation. The people that work at those companies must make a killing off insider trading given the very long R&D cycles and wafer out ramps.

I forced AI to break circular definitions in physics and act as a Game Designer for reality.
It ended up writing a "Universe Engine" technical doc and actual code.

We tested a 128x128x128 slice. Newtonian gravity emerged automatically from base constants.
It's not perfect, but it works.

I don't have the compute power to run a larger simulation.
Need someone with hardware to compile and test this properly.

You and me both. Something like a startup minus the gay overworking hype culture, but has a low team size so you don't get stuck with too many actual dumb people.

It's almost like we have to make our own separate companies...

Not to nail the solution to your forehead but maybe that's what people like me and you should do.

I have debated contracting or doing bullshit freelancing but even the contracting thing is a fucking good boys club that I can't seem to enter.

I'm at the point where I debate ponzi schemes for idiots who need websites since I just wanna edit modify and deploy shit instead of major projects to be honest.

I think the act of sourcing work is the hard part.

Vinyl records, cassettes, and CDs. I used to collect old video games, but the market got really crazy expensive. Plus the hunt on Friday/Saturday mornings at garage/yard sales and flea markets filled up with people buying everything someone was selling and flipping them on ebay, or trying to sell them for ebay prices on local market places.

'Allies"? What "allies"? The USA has no allies.

Europe steals quadrillions from the USA every day via evil tariffs and free healthcare and they don't want to stop the war in Ukraine that they started, Latin America and Africa wouldn't even exist without the USA giving them money (also Venezuelan and oil is rightfully USA's!), China is almost as evil as Biden (who was a very bad president!), Japan and Australia are also stealing USA money because they don't buy enough American SUVs.

The only allies we need are Israel, India and Russia.
