That approach does look like what I would like to do, thank you! I am of course not a genius and I will need to brush up on my geometry and learn a lot of new things, but I should be able to do this thing and, with some more experience, put more of my own spin on it and also create other, more complex kinds of landscapes.
What difficulties would I run into and what skills should I practice, if I tried to add the other things I'd like to do to this kind of approach? Stuff like adding a level of detail that would look good from a first person, terrain that can be modified, buildings/vehicles and using this in a game? Again, I understand that I'm kinda day-dreaming too much and that having all these things is either impossible or at least requires way more talent and work than I have now, but I'd still like to know in order to get a general idea of the field and see what I can do and should focus on and what I can't make look like I would like to with the resources I have now.

Also, what other approaches are there do you know of?

Do you have time to waste?
Do you like tinkering?
Will you feel like actually making games after you are done tinkering?
3D engine is a massive time investment, so if you want to actually make games you might be better off using an existing one. There are exceptions though like familiarity with your own tool giving you a chance of productivity boost in the long run, or not having to deal with unity/unreal smell carrying over into your project's look.

I just downloaded Linux for the first time to get away from Windows bloatware and I had to input 7 commands in the command line to install ProtonVPN including one to download a separate program that allows system tray icons.... is this really the best we have? Smartphones have been a disaster for human communication. So I was thinking: would my hardware idea work hypothetically? Inspired by Twitter founder's new app "bitchat" (decentralized P2P messaging over Bluetooth mesh networks—no internet, no servers, no phone numbers required). My vision: A custom PCB simple device built from scratch, optimized for bitchat with interchangeable components (batteries, extending antennas, buttons, screens, etc.) fitted to user preference. The software is currently hosted on Apple's App Store, but who knows for how long. The source code is on the bitchat's website explaining the whole process of how it works.

"People who are really serious about software should make their own hardware." — Alan Kay

There are limitations with Bluetooth, and I know it isn't the first concept for this sort of p2p communication, but this sparked a hardware idea I'm excited to learn and create. What do you guys think?

I don't see it. Have a look at LoRa (not the AI one, the Radio one)... presumably with Meshcore or Meshtastic as protocol.

Even if you were able to create better hardware for decentralized communication, convincing people to by/adopt it while also not having glowies up your ass is near impossible

i'm currently using a 21:9 2560x1080 75hz monitor, i'm thinking of buying a 1440 145hz monitor, is it worth making the switch or is ultrawide that superior?

I was on 34" 1440p 144Hz 21:9 ultrawide for a while but switched to 16:9 42" 4k OLED 144Hz.
Can still get the same effect and FOV if I want with black bars.
>>

I'm never going back from 32:9
>>
>>107896820

it sure is nice to have an LCD and not get burn in for a quarter of the price of "TRVE BLACKS"

having a 4K monitor with good color accuracy is way more important as a creator than FPS or anything like that, although a lot of cheap LCDs have great framerates still.

i was kind of waiting for the whole quantum dot QLED thing to take off, but i never looked into it and i'll probably never get another monitor until something bad happens to my $500 curvy dell.

>21:9
you mean 7:3?
>>
>>107894653
I've used 21:9 for a long time now and for me it's perfect for development. It's almost 2 squares next to each other, so you can have 2 files open or a file and a browser window (for webdev) etc. I have 2 16:9 monitors to the side and it's my perfect setup

The India Threshold is an observable and realistic accomplishment that will determine if robots have become useful to humanity. If they are able to clean that shit-hole of a country, they have shown measurable worth to us all. If they can't, they will prove their worthlessness.

By your logic, nuclear weapons are the most useful thing to humanity. Because once you incinerate all 2 billion Indian Hindu rape rats, India will be clean. If you empower AI and ask it to solve the same problem, it will just create killbots to exterminate them and achieve the same result for a bigger price tag.
>>
>>107896558
We can define the detailed "clean" parameters without causing death and discomfort.
>>
>>107895678

Is small electronic repair a dead end field?

no, its all about location.
I worked in a PC repair shop that was close to a university campus. It gets lots of poor students looking to have their tech repaired. easy money
>>

I don't think those students were actually poor.

>Did you also get frequent "is my computer is fixed, yet" calls?
kek all the time. some retards would bring their busted laptop in the morning and phone back 2 hours later
>>
>>107894741
I wouldn't call them cheapskates but if they're avoiding buying a whole new something then it's likely they don't have much money to burn
repairing electeonics -- even small ones -- isn't a terribly skilled job despite what people would like you to believe. most of the time you're just bodging traces and replacing caps. someone dedicated to being cheap can buy an electronics kit project, a cheap soldering iron and go to town very quickly. The only real difficulty is smd components but even those can be done by anyone willing to be patient with some kapton tape and a heat gun.
>>
>>107898870
The skill is not replacing things (soldering) but knowing what to replace.
If you can't diagnoce issues, you are useless at repair.

Even if there was fuckin cardboard on the outside there'd be nothing wrong with that, because aside from the internal pressure vessel, the motors and the landing gear, the LEM didn't need to be sturdy, it would in fact be detrimental as it'd noticeably increase the mass.

>Everyone is cool with flying through the vacuum of space with one sheet of tin-foil between them and disaster
I guess they were just really really lucky that no stray piece of anything didn't poke a hole in it. Amazing luck to go up so many times without an issue.

The astronots were also master contortionist since they managed to change into their EVA suits in such a cramped space. Oh and don't forget the amazing A/C and heating unit which could keep the temperature very comfortable for days at a time running on shitty lightweight 1960s era car batteries (gotta save weight bro) in 200+F degree weather. Same goes for their mobile units attached to their space suits.

Plenty of room to store a fucking moon truck too.

Imagine defending this shit lmao.

4chan can’t handle them and you can’t be sure the lossy ones weren’t transcoded from JPEG or PNG to save a few kilobytes
Otherwise lossless WebP is great and only ancient OSs and phones don’t support it in 2026

Photopea is a PWA. It's funny Firefox basically invented PWAs and then cancelled them in their browser. It's such a good idea.
Photopea is genuinely a great thing to be aware of, because even if you own Photoshop, you're not always on a pc that has it installed. Photopea works pretty much wherever you have Internet and a browser, and when the PWA is installed, you don't even need Internet anymore
