I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.

I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative.

After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.

Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.

Leetcode isn't tedious if you're actually good and enjoy coding.

Do cooling systems "age"?
My 10 year old laptop's fans are constantly on and it's very loud even at moderate load. Did I just not care in the past or is it possible for cooling to just be worse over time?
(yes I recently swapped heatpaste and cleaned the fans)
>>
>>107658046
>2nd gen
Those are rough to use today. 3rd gen is the minimum, 4th is comfortable.
And that with linux, if you use windows then get the newest possible with the most memory you can possibly afford.
>>
>>107658046
do you have any specific grievance?
when you don't have an urgent need, you can often score great used deals by waiting a bit
>>
>>107665390
Every moving part is susceptible to mechanical wear. The fan bearing can go bad, the symptom is that it doesn't spin smoothly and freely as it should and it draws more current as a result of that added load (potentially running at a reduced speed if it can't get enough power for that).
I've saved desk fan bearings before by just redoing the grease, but once the grease goes bad the ball bearings can start tearing at their tracks and scratching it, so you gotta catch it early to save like that. Maybe worth it for computer fans just for testing purposes, if it starts working as it should after that, then you know the fan is bad. Spray grease would work fine for that test. Then you buy a new fan.
Heat pipes, dissipator fins and whatnot can only corrode depending on the environment. Otherwise they don't age.

Just saying that doesn't really mean anything. You can say that in any conversation and it would have the same effect.

Like just taking that at face value its pretty strange to make such an assertive generalization about someone. Like I'm making claims about you and the other people, but they are very specific claims in response to specific behaviors. and not just a overused generalization.

Just taking it at the value of trying to be an insult it really is ineffective because its obv just trying to be an insult with nothing backing it.

So either way I don't really see what this reply achieved and its interesting to think you thought it would achieved anything.

why are so many programming "help" groups like this? like, somebody will specifically opt into helping people, and then get frustrated when they dont do exactly what they expect. it constantly feels like im testing everyone's patience whenever i ask for help and its even harder trying to just learn everything myself, especially considering all the weird semantic differences in both the language itself and guides.

like i can imagine a full script in my head but i wouldnt know how to translate it into the language im currently using. and on the offchance that i *do* get the help needed, usually its just "oh just use the blah function", so its not like i just Dont Know How To Code or anything i just dont know the shit thats specific to the engine, and its not like i can just look it up in a glossary or something because the words can be totally different from language to language, like how "object" in one language can be "entity" in another, and object in *that* language refers to an object in an array or something, so theres just a huge language gap that i cant really cross without the help of others, which sucks because working with others sucks

Python, one of the very few modern & popular programming languages not owned by big tech, is now begging hard for money at python.org (picrel), Wikipedia style.

This comes after the PSF rejected an US government grant because the PSF can't stop shilling for DEI: https://developers.slashdot.org/story/25/10/28/211237/python-foundation-rejects-government-grant-over-dei-restrictions
The same PSF then reported a surge of new donators following the above rejection: https://developers.slashdot.org/story/25/11/09/2017240/python-foundation-donations-surge-after-rejecting-grant---but-sponsorships-still-needed
Yet, they are now begging for money, using a big, intrusive and cringe banner at python.org, kek.

This is what your donated money is used for: https://www.python.org/psf/grants
>Conferences (e.g. PyCon Italia)
>Event site subscriptions (Meetup.com) (e.g. London Django Meetup)
>Django Girls Workshops (e.g. Django Girls Busan Workshop)
>PyLadies Workshops (e.g. All Day PyLadies Workshop)

These faggots have a whole page dedicated to their DEI philosophy: https://www.python.org/community/diversity
Their Libera Chat #python IRC channel is filled to the brim with trannies (they/them and she/her pronouns set as their IRC name).

Why the fuck would you switch models that are still supported on the closed-source driver, to the horribly inferior open-source driver?
While simultaneously instructing end-users to switch to an alternate branch of the closed-source driver for older models?
Just fucking put end-users on the older architectures onto the older driver by default. Linux can enumerate hardware IDs / device names, I assume - yes? The IDs for old Nvidia shit are known, yes? So fucking use that and make it seamless, rather than leaving people up shit creek after what they think might be an innocuous package update deep-sixing their graphical output because - oops; driver no longer compatible.

Arch is retarded.
