Microsoft is going to be only a cloud services and AI company soon. PCs will be resigned to the dust bin of history. Normies will eat their internet and gaming slop using iOS or Android dumb terminals. A few nice enthusiasts will be running bare Linxux or a BSD.

Apple is serious about security; they invest a lot in white hat hackers. What’s the Linux Foundation’s budget for this?
>>
>>107694831
There is a greater incentive to ensure security for Linux as it's more important infrastructure than a macOS computer. A budget is not necessary as a lot is free and open source that even Apple has greatly benefited from.

>/g/ makes a 19th album
Theme: [Accepting suggestions]

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

I'm a newbie at making music and I feel like I don't "get it" yet. Like, sure scales are a thing and music theory is a thing and ear candy and beats and stuff but whenever I'm trying to work on a track it feels like I'm adding things at random and hoping it works out.
Do you guys have any tip on developing a method?
>>
>>107693083
copy copy copy, steal, steal, steal
What do you want to make? Listen to it, and emulate it
>>
>>107693083
the whole trick with music is making different parts sound different but also sound like you did it on purpose, undertale guy says music is all about contrast but thats not the whole story, the point of chord progressions and beat structure and things like that is so the audience knows its not just random noise, give them clues like theyre solving a mystery about whats going to happen next
>>
>>107673054
I have a report to make.
Upon pressing PgDn, it did nothing, so I couldn't save my patch.
>>
>>107693083
Do you know or are you learning to play an instrument? No? Then you're never going to "get it".
>b-but the topic is DIGITAL music production!!
It doesn't matter. To truly understand music, you must play music. Perform it. Do you know how painters learn to paint? They copy other artists' paintings. Stroke by stroke. So yeah, you'll copy bleeps and bloops, but you'll also play covers too. If you don't play music, you'll always be limited, and everything you make will always be simplistic or derivative. Placing down notes on the piano roll using your mouse can only take you so far.

Being knowledgeable about the dangers of the Intel Management Engine or locked down games consoles doesn't necessarily translate to being an expert in system installation.
Not everyone has time to be installing systems and most people I meet don't do this as such.

emacs keybindings are not difficult nor do they strain my hands. i mostly use emacs on my home computer but use vim keybindings in visual studio at work so i'm reasonably comfortable with both
i like the ability to have total control over my text editor and a lot of the plugins are so much nicer (magit in particular). i think it's overall just an aesthetic editor.
