Title: [Accepting suggestions]
Deadline: 7th of January

>/g/ makes a 19th album
Theme: [Accepting suggestions]

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

Best not to have noise to begin with but when that is unavoidable... multi-band noise gate, with different settings for each band.

My piano literally has a USB port, it's the same as a printer. I just turn it on, and it works in FL.

For simple background noise i found the filter from sneedacity pretty decent.

>picks some other name he and his friends liked just because /g/ was among those that supported "sneedacity"
I never advertised being a /g/ user there but actually I was the one that came up with the name Tenacity which they eventually picked. At first they said that some other project uses that name already so I started thinking about alternative options. But then the whole thread got replaced with a different one and someone there said they still really liked that Tenacity name though, so they ended up picking that.

I heard that Audacity went back with their plans due to the backlash but I like to install Tenacity anyway since I got to name it.

Are C++ compile times really that bad?
>>
I'm eager to try it when it releases but don't have many opinions on it as-is.
The concepts don't seem bad and he's realizing them so that's good.
It build fast enough and can build useful enough tooling right now it seems.
And I like a lot of the meta programming and compile time features.
Waiting to judge the syntax and featureset too hard since things are unstable.
From what I've seen I remember it mostly being alright to read, and I'll have to see with some of the features if I actually like them or not in practice.
>>
>>107731955
Amazing. Every point that you've made is wrong to some degree. Good job.
>21 seconds in release mode
Most release builds are way slower than this, given the size of his project. Anyway, his game compiles in 2 seconds (not sure what mode though, but assuming debug, this is great).
>NullReferenceException
I'm assuming you mean Seg Faults. That's what they're called. Unless you go the Rust route, you cannot completely get rid of these. Even rust still has them in unsafe blocks.
>No hot reload
I'm assuming you're referring to Zig's watch, or interpreted languages here? You can implement this, but I suppose that's beyond "built-in". Besides, how hard is it to pressing up in your shell to rebuild and run? If you're talking about loading DLLs/shaders, it's capable of doing this (as are most languages).
>Heavily experimental on Linux and Mac
Seethe.
>Breaking backwards compatibility
On a beta language?
>Package managers
This can be implemented as a third party, so it doesn't really matter if he "doesn't believe" in package managers. Package managers aren't really the best thing ever anyway, and usually only add headache compared to just vendoring code altogether. Pros and cons at least.

Many political strategists believe the optimal window for China to annex Taiwan is around 2026-2027. Perhaps Sam Altman had prior knowledge which lead to his decision to order 40% of the global RAM supply (raw, uncut wafers that can be warehoused) in preparation of the enviable. As this order is being fulfilled tech companies will be forced to develop non-Taiwanese supply chains immediately. In the end result OpenAI would have the world's largest reserve of critical AI infrastructure components.

The RAM crisis is being caused by a bunch of silicon valley cultists who think they can create God by buying a shit ton of RAM and scaling up their stupid chatbots. They have no more plan then to get a shit ton of GPUs and RAM and just scale huge on compute. Literally no plan.

>buy RAM
>?????
>create God

That is the cult's plan and they have effectively swindled a bunch of people into thinking they can do it, including rich capitalist investors who think they can just create robots and chatbots that will be good enough to let them fire all their workers and replace them. Everyone in this situation is dumb.
>>

If it looks dumb from the outside it’s because it’s collusion on the inside

They sold us a bubble so they can rob us and then run to isreal

I think all the retarded shortages we had recently were because of this. The west is stockpiling as many chips as they can because their TMSC US plant failed miserably and they know they're at the mercy of China the second this kind of event happens.
The troll part is that China doesn't operate on the same short term schedule the West does, so it's entirely possible an invasion doesn't happen for 2 more decades. They probably assumed China was sure to invade during the Ukraine war.
>>
>>107726026
>in preparation of the enviable
Maybe he's just based?
>>
>>107726011
What the fuck are you talking about? DRAM chips are made in the US by Micron and in South Korea by SK Hynix and Samsung.

The shortage is on the chips themselves, not the final assembly portion that's done in Taiwan. A war there would affect RAM since SK is nearby, but RAM would be one of the last affected PC components from a war there.

Yeah, who could possibly care about the thing which makes practically all websites function? I get being an autist with niche interests, but fuck me, you people sure love acting like nobody else exists outside of your own autistic head.

You don't need a special snowflake browser to turn JavaScript off. But I get the feeling you don't actually do that anyway.

For me, it's the HD600. The best headphone. I even ask for extra foam inserts and the Sennheiser support staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I asked for replacement pads and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly Sennheiser rep laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".

Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three pairs of pads. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local audiophile shop, I go there at least 3 times a week for HD600s and a Schiit stack with Modi instead of Modius, 1-2 times for balanced cables on the weekend, and maybe once for a tube amp when I'm in a rush but want a great listening experience that is affordable, neutral, and can match my daily "this is endgame" posting needs.

I even EQ my HD600s with oratory1990's preset, it's veiled! What a great headphone.

I have this chunk of HLSL to select which view matrix to use when doing point light shadow maps. in old code I had this if-else structure:

    if (xDot > yDot)
{
if (xDot > zDot)
{
axis = 0;
component = positionToLight.x;
}
else
{
axis = 2;
component = positionToLight.z;
}
}

okay I'm going to try this, thanks. good to hear it's probably not the display itself. on the other hand, the thing that I would like to upgrade most is actually the display, because I'm still using the stock display with TN panel which looks horrible. I could get a LP125WH2-SLB3 for 100 bucks, if this is better than, say, the display of a t14 gen 1 then it's maybe worth it, otherwise I should probably just buy a more recent thinkpad (t14 gen >= 3 would be nice for 16:10 aspect ratio) and retire my good old x220 (rip goat keyboard). can someone comment on this?

Is there any ultra portable with AMD that's comparable to 8th gen i5?
>>
>>107732274
X13 G1 or G2 with 4th/5th gen ryzen mobile CPU should be pretty close.
>>
>>107732212
The X220/230 is really at that tipping point where it doesn't make a ton of sense to upgrade it unless you're married to that form factor and feature set and have very modest computing needs. The IPS panel is a significant improvement over the TN but still not comparable to modern IPS screens. There's a fair bit of ghosting and the colors aren't amazing.

If a $100 panel sets you up to get another year's use out of it or longer, maybe that's worth it. If you already have the upgrade itch and the performance/heat/battery life is already bugging you, save your money and put it into something newer.

X13G3 is going to be the first X series to get a 16:10 panel. If that's way out of budget, maybe limp your X220 along til prices get cheaper.

It's your call ultimately.
