They can’t, China is always at least month behind US at almost every technology. However they have massive manufacturing base that mogs the rest of the world. US can only do a single thing, and that is invest all of its money into RnD. So US spying or even both parties sharing all technology would just benefit China because they could build all the tech faster and cheaper.
>>
>>107670339
What good is RnD when you don't have to means to (mass) produce?
>>
>>107670332
Stock price is not revenue. Insisting that it is is like insisting that a landlord that owns a 1m house is making 1m a year renting it out.

At least 20 years of profit and growth is priced into that 4t valuation. It's more like 50 years in the case of Nvidia right now
>>
>>107670405
It’s not. US fell for the RnD meme. Too busy researching fiction instead of just building nuclear power plants or making solar panels more durable like China. Just taking what already works and making it better.

Trying Kuroba Ex Beta rn, the captchas work fine and have apt descriotions but the search function for board is basically ctrl+f and not a filter like it used to be, sadge. That needs fixing, and my keyboard has like ⅓rd of a second of lag before it comes up in the search bar.

Yes. From what I was able to gather, the bios is too old for fwupd. I need to update it first before I can use that command. I'm just gonna reinstall Linux after updating my bios on Windows. I've been at this for almost a week now, and I want to just be done with it.

Got a dope ass Thinkpad neoprene sleeve with a handle that hides away when not in use that looks almost like a briefcase for Xmas for my T14s. I'm so sorry anons. For years I made fun of you, calling them chinkpads, stinkpads, etc, thinking you were all retarded for buying what I thought were all obsolete e-waste trash but when my macbook air from 2013 started getting a bit long in the tooth (and really long in compile times for projects I'm developing) I went looking for a new laptop and saw the absurd fucking prices they want for intel macbooks that are only a couple years newer than mine with almost no hardware improvement, and the double retarded prices for most brand new machines I took a look at eBay and came across a seller that had an "A/B grade" T14S for $190 so I gave it a shot, figuring if it was a piece of trash I'm only out two bills. Within 10 minutes of it arriving at my door I had cloned my macbook air ssd with arch on it to the T14S ssd and booted up. I went from 15s compile times to... I shit you fucking not, 0.0248s ... I thought it had to be fucking up and not actually compiling, so I manually deleted every object file and the binary instead of relying on my makefile to clean compile, and compiled again. 0.0246s. no fucking way. I run the binary, stress test it to see if it crashes under extreme load or has some other unintended behavior because I still felt like that compile time couldn't be right, it had to be missing something... Nope. It was working perfectly. No segfault, no memory leaks, nada. The compile time was the real deal.

Sorry for the blog post. The gist of it is, I'm a faggot doublenigger for doubting you guys all these years and being a stupid macfaggot and assuming that - based on the looks of Thinkpads alone - that all Thinkpads were extremely outdated core2quad era garbage and that there weren't any with modern specs. I was wrong. You guys were right.

that's like saying "just use your phone" when you have a nice, physical keyboard. A dedicated calculator with its tactile feedback and being purpose built have its advantages.

I have basically the same one. Bought it around 2004 for university and I'm still using it. I bought the same model number this year for my daughter and it fucking sucks. The calculator is somehow twice as light and feels very cheap. Also the keys are very cheap and weirdly placed.

ES series my beloved
Fun fact, the ES ROM has an exploit in it that allows you to crash it (webm related), corrupt the RAM, or even soft-upgrade lesser models to the 991ES.
Last I checked the chip datasheet had leaked and people managed to extract the ROM, so it can be emulated and bootlegged fairly easily.

Steps to repeat for anyone interested:
>shift + 0 shift ) 1 ) =
>fraction button as much as possible (at least 8 times), move cursor to the bottom
>1 x^ =
>AC up AC left, left twice and delete the 1
>fraction of 1/1, =
>ABS 5 times, SQRT until it crashes
Getting the "r" into the input field is the bug. For whatever reason it isn't handled properly, and whatever you place before it changes the nature of the corruption.
Soft upgrading takes at least an extra minute of fiddly inputs, normally not worth it and cba to explain.
A version of this works on some ES PLUS models, but the procedure is different.

I think I may have figured out how to fraudently pass off AVIF images as video inside a WEBM container.

ffmpeg -i 1.avif -c:v copy 1.webm & ffmpeg -i 2.avif -c:v copy 2.webm
ffmpeg -i 3.avif -c:v copy 3.webm & ffmpeg -i 4.avif -c:v copy 4.webm & ffmpeg -i 5.avif -c:v copy 5.webm
(echo file '1.webm' & echo file '2.webm' & echo file '3.webm' & echo file '4.webm' & echo file '5.webm') > filelist.txt
ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i filelist.txt -c copy 12345.webm

5 pack of AVIF images (125 KB): https://files.catbox.moe/ei4qf6.zip
those 5 AVIF images converted to a fraudulent (but playable) WEBM (124 KB): https://files.catbox.moe/5r19yu.webm

There's 1 problem though, I have no idea how to reverse this process.

Your autism made an invalid video file. Try exporting PNG images named 1.png 2.png 3.png to an AV1 webm first. Something like

ffmpeg -framerate 1 %d.png -c:v libsvtav1 -crf 30 -g 1 -pix_fmt yuv420p autism.webm

And then

ffmpeg -i autism.webm -c copy %d.avif

Holy shit, that was the clue. You're a god damned genius. I figured out the other part, apparently image2 expects PNG/JPG, a proper image format but if you switch it on before the output it'll export AV1 video data anyway lol.

ffmpeg -skip_frame nokey -i in.webm -c copy -f image2 %d.avif

college became a scam long ago when socialists and capitalists joined hands to destroy it, socialists wanted every retard in the college and capitalists wanted money from everyone, college was supposed to be a place for the intellectually gifted.
>>
>>107670078
>but it's not because people take out huge loans for programs they don't give a shit about throughout and didn't find fast ez life afterwards
it wasn't like this before, truth is most jobs don't really require a college degree, however there was a time when a college degree meant something, it was a sign that you are more intellectually aligned and are more capable of doing certain type of official tasks.
All of this went to shit, when every retard started to get a college degree.
>>
>>107667657
Aren't professors supposed to teach you some concept, then give you some sort of activity that will be graded by the professor to measure your understanding of concept?

What does your professor actually do during class time?

>>107669123

college education basically meant you were immediately manager+ material, as most people didn't even go
>>
>>107670129
True, I am describing basically describing degree inflation. I blame both what you are referring to (high graduations as fields develop and become influential, and a response to the drops in graduate quality afterwards) and plain managerial cultural preference.

Hi, I really like the Linux mentality and all Linux offer. I’m switching to Linux for my personal use and I’m very happy for that. But now, i want to switch my association to Linux. I’m a IT technician and I know the war of the data, the GAFAM… We use Windows because the people say: - "it’s more simple" - we use that every days and for personal use - 0 advantage to switch to Linux - what’s the data privacy? It’s not important for us - stop with your mentally of geek - Linux doesn’t work - Linux is the geeks users / IT users - bla-bla-bla and bla-bla-bla…

Please help me find arguments to convince them. I know that Linux is a really good solution and works very well, but I can't sell the idea itself. Please excuse my grammar, English is not my native language.
>>
>>107670268
The main answer I would give is
>Linux used to be hard to debug, but now that we have LLM on our phone, it's usually easy.
>>
>>107670268
you will take the blame when something inevitably goes wrong
>>
>>107670268
Unless your job depends on switching your company to Linux, don't bother. It's going to be a headache and too many things could go wrong. The exception would be for things like server hosting, then Linux is probably objectively better than Windows if you know how to manage it.
If it just works, don't be that guy who tries to change stuff and make it difficult for other people.
