NEWS>somebody submitted a huge PR to fix all the issues with 10.11 and it is being reviewed as of a few hours ago!https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/pull/15986
>>107830564>how does Jellyfin stream its content anyway?I don't have much idea on that. I already had CS Xplorer (or whatever that file manager is called) installed in my Fire Stick. Connecting via SMB through it is pretty easy. I even had Kodi installed and could connect via SMB through it too but Kodi player isnt really that great so felt it was pointless.I just need a good media player with control customization options I like which is pretty much MX Player on my TV. Uortunately MX Player does not support EAC3 auio codec and lot of the pirated content does seem to be having that codec. I could only play it on TV with VLC which would have been great if it had more options to manage subtitles. However recently discovered Fire Stick does have Miracast feature and I am pretty much set to play it on my laptop which has all the customization I need
>>107830408I just don't understand how they code something so poorly and have it remain in such a state for years with no improvements in sight. I'd be fucking embarrassed releasing such code to the world.
>>107831144It's a fork of emby and most of shittyness (like writing SQL strings by hand) comes from it and jellyfin's hesitation to break the compatibility to fix it. Which I guess was warranted looking at how much of a shit show this release is but oh well. Should've done that sooner if anything.
>>107829091i remember a few years ago jellyfin was slow/buggy with embedded subtitles. extract them if you can, never had any issue with external subs
>>107827616>Is shit for music>The only real alternative (Navidrome) supports one outdated protocol and no pluginsGuess I'll buy Roon because there is no good OSS for the usecase
>mint is shit with the slowest file manager known to man>zorinOS is guhnome based and slow as hell>debian is shit and none of the desktops are good>you got KDE, I guess, but theres no really a clean minimal distro besides kubuntu>kubuntu is garbage with snap infestation which makes it unusable. So what the fuck do I use in linux? Theres literally no optionsWhy cant someone make a simple XFCE based distro with bazaar with some theme linux xubuntu but based on debian
>>107828843What makes you think that mattering is a metric?
>>107828349Pop OS uses Cosmic, is it ready for gaming?
I've been happy with Fedora KDE for the past few months since ditching windows 10. Feels intuitive enough to find my way around as a former windows user and most of my shit just werks. Some minor quirks here and there but windows was worse.Setting up the rpm fusion third party repo to get codecs and shit was really a total non-issue so people complaining about that are really grasping at straws.
>>107825382Truth. Ricers are a bunch of faggots. Just move your taskbar icons (which should be at the bottom if you're straight) to the middle using spacers (like God intended), remove any icons you dont need from the far right, add a nice wallpaper, maybe turn on some transparency effects and you're all good. Nothing will break if you just do that instead of bloating your PC with bullshit themes

Zoomer here... isn't it weird how it became accepted to just not able to change the battery on tech you own, and having it become a brick after 1 year of use because you can't swap the internal rechargeable battery? When did this become the norm with consumer tech?
>sim slots behind the battery
Somewhere along the way tech became form over function.
>>107830478The sizes and shapes of batteries aren't standard, and are often custom made to the exact size available inside the device to maximize capacity. For a popular device 3rd party batteries may be available. But for a niche first party device like the Bluetooth receiver I recently dealt with, it might not even be possible to get an OEM battery. I was able to find a drone battery that was close enough in size to fit if I folded over the little flap with the controller board on it and cut the wires to the exact length to reach the solder terminals though.>>107830558Forces the user to power down the phone before swapping SIMs. That way the firmware doesn't need to have any handling for SIM hot swapping.
>>107830478They standardized on USB-C for charging ports years ago, that's what finally forced iPhones off of Lightning. Standard batteries again would be nice, I guess.>>107830524Better than the last 10 years, at least. I'll take it.
