take the low tech pill

>only use landlines or dumb phone

Why only desktop and not laptops?
Also can't you access radios from a desktop PC over the internet?
Dumb phones still have cameras too usually so you could just use that instead of having an extra device.
How can you games and media offline you need an internet connection to torrent them in the first place.

HAM radio is legitimately satisfying. Buying chinese radios and installing CFW so you can monitor everything that isn't encrypted at this point. The most interesting stuff imo is listening to air traffic on the AM bands and tracking flights.

I can't find one. Anything that performs near it wouldn't have the same battery life. Waiting for the m5 pro/air announcement and swipe from there. Intel is revealing Panther Lake at CES in early january, maybe they cooked up something worthwhile.

What ashift do you guys use for SSD pools? People say 13 or 14 are viable, but is that worth it? Can you zfs send/recv from an ashift=14 pool to an ashift=12 pool?
>>

I think you need to upgrade your ZFS packages themselves

So here's my problem. My stepdad won't let me use the wifi at his house because he's paranoid about me torenting or getting a virus. Is it possible for me to get my own Internet router with its own wifi and Ethernet connections? My room has a coaxial wall outlet.
>>
>>107662289
Depends if the house has different wiring for different ISPs.
In my area there are basically only two ISP and they don't share cables. If I'm with ISP1 then they use their cable. If I'm with ISP2 then they use theirs. My house was wired like this.
Call other ISPs and asks them if it's possible to get a 2nd internet connection and tell them what ISP your dad is on.
Also, your dad is a dick.

The sad truth is that there's no good non-propertiary DE.
Therefore when messing with Linux or BSDs I prefer window managers if I need a graphical environment. Of course I usually don't because I do my daily normie shit on MacOS.

>>107661319
>MicroLED literally hit a dead end in consumer development
>QDEL will be the next attempt
I really hope we get more news about it at this next year's upcoming CES.
Reports back in March were that Samsung internally put out an all-hands-on-deck call to their research department to accelerate QDEL/QD-EL development because they can see the threat from the cheap Chinese inkjet-printed RGB OLEDs from BOE and CSOT looming on the near horizon and need something to stay ahead (not to mention LG's transition to RGB OLED next year adding extra pressure):
https://www.businesskorea.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=237792
>According to industry sources on March 18, Samsung Electronics' Visual Display (VD) division, along with SAIT, formerly known as the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, and Samsung Display, is pushing forward with EL-QD development. Samsung has set an internal target to commercialize EL-QD within a few years and is fully committed to its technological development.

Samsung were also demo'ing a unit at Display Week back in May:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcCrpjT3gEM&t=239s
They could target the Gaming/IT market first as enthusiast will spent a premium for the best especially if it eliminates the risk of burn-in for static content viewing.

LG RGB OLED UPDATE:
https://tftcentral.co.uk/news/lg-display-announce-a-new-27-4k-oled-panel-with-rgb-stripe-layout
>We’ve now confirmed with LG Display that this new panel will offer the following luminance specs:
>250 nits brightness for SDR
>1000 nits peak brightness (1.5% APL) for HDR
>500 nits at 10% APL
>250 nits at 100% APL
>VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black capabilities (subject to monitor certification process)

>This is a lower brightness than some of their most recent Tandem WOLED panels we’ve seen with the included white sub-pixel (reaching 1500 nits peak for instance), but this is as a result of the removal of the white sub-pixel and the higher pixel density. With only RGB sub-pixels now available, this will offer an “additive” approach to colour brightness, which should mean we get higher colour volume in HDR – i.e. colours will be maintained even at maximum brightness.
I'll take a slight hit to brightness in exchange for a normal subpixel layout for better clarity with no color volume collapse and better color balance (and hopefully no more luminance overshoot).

its slow as fuck, ugly, gesture heavy and the three devs (french Canadian, bong indian and Canadian indian) sit in threads here trolling people. Such a sad existence, thank God people started calling it out and even jannies started to notice. kurobaex isnt perfect but it's the closest thing to clover which perfected the image board app design. chance is bloated, its almost fundamentally opposite against the simple image board design of this site. it has sovl and no future. we all thought floens was moody these chance devs are teenage girls.

I once tried to learn C++ but so many things just sucked:
The syntax, headder files, 1000 ways to do the same thing, the ((meta-)meta-) "build" system(s) and overall the feeling of the language:
It is like someone had continuously updated his hobby project without concerning other users.

I want to learn a modern language instead and chose Zig out of Rust or Zig as Rust seemed gay-coded to me.
Is it a good decision to learn Zig? Will Zig stay?

Ifs market share in China has surpassed iOS earlier.
it does not use an android base like KaiOS and most other linux mobile os
it's not linux / unix based like Sail fish and iOS.
it's a microkernel OS. it's also open source.
and got a weird sdk that uses a language that looks like TypeScript (it's not webshit)
I wonder how effective is it against israeli spyware?

Yes, I agree the PRC is attacking Western countries.
What I was trying to point out is that HarmonyOS likely compromised or close to being compromised by...well probably both PRC and Western agencies. Doesn't really make sense to say it's more effective against spyware.
