Ohook via Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Alternatively, use a light version of Office 365 through your browser since it's free,
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save as MS Office file formats.

It works for gaming fine. You can install graphic drivers and shit like vcredist just as you would on other editions.

I'd like a one click, no confirmation button on my desktop for switching between using one and two displays. Is this achievable and if yes, how?

This is something you'd use an AutoHotkey script to do.

hey guys am I supposed to delete everything here for a clean installation? I'm scared of ruining my ssd. like maybe one of these is options for the ssd itself and is supposed to stay. in my noob brain.

>>
>>100141470
Press shift+F10
In the cmd window run diskpart
When inside it, run "select disk 0" then run "clean"
Let it work then when it says it's been successful close the window and refresh the drive listing
Install to the now unallocated drive 0 space

Can you do an in-place upgrade to windows 11 iot ltsc (the one that is leaked) from a 10 version?

>>100145349
Older LTSC can in-place upgrade to the latest LTSC. So technically if you mount the LTSC 2024 RTM ISO and run the setup, you should be able to upgrade to it from 2021 for example, though I'd exercise caution with this if it doesn't work properly based on it still being a leak.

Just did so using the first option again, now with network. This is 1903 if it matters, and I did similarly for all versions before that. Offline would mean access to options that are normally blocked off then it just says to activate if you bother looking for the window that says so. Restarting said it was already activated, maybe Windows does it on its own once a network is detected.

You can add the store and all the xbox crap win10 ordinarily comes with if you need it. LTSC is perfectly usable for playing game pass and UWP games, but you might as well be using a consumer edition by that point. Steam and other platforms aren't an issue. I honestly don't install or use all the xbox stuff, but i still install the store to grab winget and other useful tools.

Can you guys give me an alternative to Microsoft Photos? My requirements are that it should be aware of the contents of the folder it launched from (so i can navigate from the UI) and should support video playback. My issue with Microsoft Photos is that it has issues with MPEG-2. So the alternative must support it and no, converting my media isn't the solution I want.

I also want to add that I tried IrfanView but viewing videos was kind of weird, I had to resize the window everytime.

>W11 adoption rate is somehow lower than vista

because the installation is near impossible for the average noob.
On my laptop I had to activate the TPM 2.0 chip and secure boot with windows mode manually in bios.
On a friends machine I've activated it, but installation still ended with "not supported machine" without any further description. Turns out you had to make a bios update first.

Most people probably don't even know what a bios is. If even tech savvy people have to solve some problems and do some research, the average guy will be absolutely incapable of installing windows 11.

This means that the computer you're installing to has a baked-in Home key which a Windows 10 installer will only allow Home to be installed. You need to add the file ei.cfg to your install USB's sources folder with the correct content (it's in the fwt paste) and then it'll allow you to install whichever edition you please.
Also if you already have a Home system installed you can just use MAS to hotchange the edition to Education/Enterprise then re-activate. No need to re-install.

Check the Event Viewer as described. You may have a broken component so do the usual

sfc /scannow

and

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

in case of corruption, this should work unless you modified the ISO image or messed with the base system itself. If you did, I believe you could mount a unmodified Windows Install ISO and extract install.wim, then set the "Windows" as a repair source in dism. how much insight does one program in windows have to the other running programs?
I remember a story from years ago about Overwatch players going to pornhub when they started losing too much but it also seems like these game companies can't even detect cheat software with rootkit level anticheat. I know Microsoft has a ton of telemetry but for 3rd party stuff can they actual tell what you do on your browser, or info on your files if file explorer is open?
>>
>>100182356
You can read microsoft's terms of service to learn what telemetry they take with the default required setting, most of the time when normalfags think they are hecking getting spied on it's because they turned on or accepted some setting that has weird sync or ad personalization and they get creeped out. If you make a local account and just toggle all annoyances in settings you are pretty much set when it comes to not worrying about that shit.
>>
>>100182382
I know windows has telemetry I'm specifically talking about third party apps. If I have a game running, or a program from work open, can it see what my other programs are doing?
>>
>>100182414
If you installl something with admin permissions, yes in theory it could track anything on your PC if it's a malware, but realistically no bigger company would risk ever doing anything like that, that's literally suicide. Definitely not fucking Blizzard lol. That was just a meme article. As long as you stick to only installing stuff that's safe and well known you don't have to worry about anything like that.
>>
>>100182356
you usually need at least admin permission to read/write with other processes (that's why browsers have all those processes), though this does depend on how processes were launched iirc, sometimes debug permission on top of that i think
windows actually has an extremely granular permissions and access model that for some reason barely gets used so you can really isolate the shit out of stuff, ignoring a lot of the more modern features which help even more

Wasn't sure wheter to post this here or in /pcbg/

My build with a ryzen 7 5700 and an rtx 4070 super shuts down the signal to the monitor and turns the fans of the PC (i'm not sure if its the processor's or the gpu's, or both) to 100%, loud as fuck. And I can't do anything. This only seems to happen on Windows 10, not in Arch. And just started to happen two or three days ago.

Any idea on how to troubleshoot this?
>>
Hi. Whenever I open Explorer with thumbnails on, the progress bar constantly loads. Icons start going blank(white icons) and the recycle bin icon disappears. If I quit and open Explorer, the navigation menu and "This PC" don't load. The progress bar keeps loading. If I turn thumbnails off, it's okay for a bit then the Explorer does the same shit again. This happens even in a folder with 14 videos. I opened the Photos app, the thumbnails don't load in it either.

I've tried turning indexing on and off. Did a fresh re-install twice(but from the same boot thumb drive). I've disabled most of the annoying and resource-hungry MS processes and uninstalled bloatware. I did a DPS self-check on the drive and did a used chkdsk during the boot. My drive is good, and even the SMART status is OK. What could be causing this?

I don't think it's the graphics driver since I installed the only official one. I don't think it's my RAM, I have 32 gigs. I've done all kinds of tests, installed updates, and checked this with a fresh install(the first Win10 version, no updates). I've disconnected from the internet and scanned for viruses using Bitdefender and Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, and Avast. My PC is clean. I'm lost. I hope someone can help me, it seems like a unique issue to me. MS help is fucking useless, all they can come up with is "sfc /scannow" and "upgrade to 11(never)".
>>
>>100182679
Task Manager may yield some clue or another of what's going on just before you lose visual.
Event Viewer may likely yield more light on the situation (no pun intended) if you didn't go full retard and disable the services that help fill Event Viewer's logs.

Running a check of your main drive with the OS on it is a good idea, too, just to make sure you don't have data corruption that is affecting your system and cannot be fixed by dism and sfc scans.
>>
>>100182679
>>100183180
Afterwards run cmd(dot)exe with admin privilege and enter
>dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
>sfc /scannow
letting each do its thing in that order. These will make sure that the OS gets fixed if it has corruption. There are rare instances that they will not work. Try rebooting your OS afterward. If you still run into issues, try reinstalling the Nvidia drivers and software.
But first, again, try investigating using Task Manager and Event Viewer. They may even yield info telling us that all these steps I pointed out might be unnecessary or a completely different procedure might be what's needed.

Also remember to install either Professional or Enterprise so you can KMS activate it.

>God I hate tech illiterate boomers that make these shitty clickbait videos, I literally installed W11 23H2 Home on a cousin's computer last night and it let me skip with no issue. Total eceleb death.
I think this was about the 24H-something version.
Before I knew about the workarounds I just used a MS account to set it up, add a local account with privileges and then delete the MS account. Not that I believe MS would never think to prevent that too.
>>
>>100184732
The name of the original MS account used during the OOBE is still inside the registry in certain places even if you delete the user account itself.
It all really comes down to if the OEM has disabled the Shift+F10 command prompt in the OOBE. If it has, you can do a kinda annoying/tricky workaround where you invoke sticky keys to get access to shit like Win+R to run admin powershells and do shit in there, but otherwise no@thankyou.com still works when it comes to the OOBE account login failing and taking you to a local account creator.

if i install windows 10 on my second SSD can i keep it from accessing my main m.2 where my linux and all my personal files are installed so i don't lose out on my privacy concerns?
what's the difference between LTSC and LTSB?
>>
>>100185445
also, how do i do the install?
do i just disable the m.2 while installing windows 10 on the ssd?
>>
>>100185622
If you don't want any Windows files to most likely place themselves on your Linux M.2 then yes you can open the shift+f10 cmd and use diskpart to get the M.2 to be seen as offline to the installer.
>>
>>100185685
and both OS's work fine still? i just essentially want two separate systems where i pick which one boots through uefi boot menu.
i've never done a dual boot and i'm worried about complications i don't know about.
>>
>>100185727
That's how it'll work. The M.2 won't be seen during install but will be seen after you get into your Windows system, clean as ever with no sneaky Windows files.
>>
>>100184732
I doubt they'll make any changes in 24HX that will force you to make a MS account, the workaround of simply not connecting your ethernet cable on a desktop computer during usb stick installation should always work, especially on education version which is enterprise iso based and has to function that way for company/institution offline install support. And then after installing edu you can just switch to Home/Pro if you are too scared of MAS. And even if you don't want that workaround there's still typing in admin as email and password as password that lets you create a local account, or doing OOBE\BYPASSNRO.

I've been using winget to install my app exclusively now. I've noticed with cli programs like yt-dlp, gallery-dl and ffmpeg, after an upgrade with winget, I'll be able to call the program from terminal, even after a reboot. I'll have to uninstall and reinstall the same program and then it'll work. How do I stop this? On win 11.
>>
>>100187083
My opinion? Just download mpv, extract it somewhere and run its updater batch file. It installs/updates it, yt-dlp and ffmpeg. Then you can easily just add the mpv folder to PATH.

Any way to clean this folder? It's a folder you get to by pressing up in the This PC folder.
Even if you have no desktop icons that first row of Windows stuff will still show up on here. Any solution?

If I install the Windows 11 iot ltsc leak now, will it be easy to install the official release over it once it comes out? Or would it make more sense to winstall win10 iot ltsc now and update to 11 in october?
I just got a new computer and don't know what to install.
(For reference, I was still using win 7 up until now)
>>
>>100188852
You need to do a clean install. I don't understand why are you even asking.
In most cases you should probably go with 10 iot ltsc but that's just me. Do wah you want.
>>
>>100188993
Is it true Windows 10 ends support next year?
>>
>>100188852
We have no idea if when using the RTM candidate leak you can upgrade it to the actual official LTSC 2024 release coming in October.

>>100189128
GAC/SAC 10 is reaching its EoL in October 2025. 10 IoT LTSC 2021 is reaching its EoL in 2032 while 11 IoT LTSC 2024 is probably getting an EoL of like 2036/7 or something.
>>
>>100189164
Ah, so with 10 IoT LTSC I'll be safe for quite a while. Thanks.
>>
>>100189194
You might as well switch to IoT LTSC 2024 when it comes out. It basically has none of 11's requirements and just acts like 2021, but you'll get 11's new features like DirectStorage/HDR and programs won't complain your feature pack number is too low on those rare occasions.

I've just used ShutUp10++ for the past couple years. Its recommended settings AIO toggle gets all the registry edits/services set up quick.

so when doing a new windows 10 installation, do I let the install fully update over the internet before installing all the anti-pozzware, activators and stuff or do I install all that stuff before letting it update?

Looks like Win11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 Build 26100.1 is indeed the RTM/OEM build.

Just received a cumulative update through Windows Update despite not being enrolled in Insider Preview and build number has bumped up to 26100.268.

No reason not to install LTSC 2024 now.

Do you know where to find reputable, portable version of Office 2010 or 2013? all i can find are one off sites like this
https://getintopc.today/microsoft-office-2010-portable-free-download/
I don't trust them much.
>>
>>100192387
Personally I always install Windows offline then connect after I've ran ShutUp10++ on it.
>>
>>100196377
Well shit. Guess it's not that risky to use that leak now then.
>>
>>100196453
Massgrave's ISO repo also includes MSI installers for Office 2016 to 2007.
>>
>>100196792
why shutup10++ over privatezilla/privacy.sexy/wapp etc
>>
>>100197115
They all do the same shit pretty much. I also tested it between two PCs and SU10++ disables more things overall compared to Privatezilla.

I went into Disk Management and disabled a hard drive. I need to access the hard drive now but it doesn't show up in Disk Management anymore so I don't know how to enable it. Any ideas?
>>
>>100198733
Re-enable it with diskpart. Should show up in there when you "list disk"
>>
>>100198745
Had forgotten to try this out and did so now but the disk is actually still not visible with that command. What the hell.
>>
>>100198858
You might need to restart the computer for the disk to show up again after making it go offline.
>>
>>100198869
I have restarted my PC but no luck. Will try plugging the drive into a USB dock later I guess.
