This is a super zoomed snippet of the result of an image operation I did years ago which I cannot seem to recreate. It was cleaning up a shitty jpeg of a line-based graphic by using the fuzzy select tool to make the image two-tone and then softening the boundary. I'm pretty sure I did it in GIMP originally and now I'm trying in modern GIMP, the antialiasing filter is doing nothing and I can't seem to get a gentle enough guassian blur, which is what I suspect I originally used. How the fuck do I do this? It's so damn clean.

if 1500euros net a month is a wage that one adult can actually live on (rent, food, car, insurance, bills, keep a bit of money in savings) in my country

Anyone know what could be causing my game I'm playing on my PC to cause heavy lag all of a sudden to which I get a frame per minute and then its stuck most of the time on the same frame? How do I host a non-steam cs 1.6 server on linux so I can play with friends on pirated clients?

I've set up the hlds server according to this tutorial https://www.amoradi.org/20210912011151.html

When I start it with

./hlds_run -game cstrike -console +insecure +sv_lan 0 +map de_dust2

I get "STEAM validation rejected" when connecting to it. If i pass
+sv_lan 1
I get "LAN servers are restricted to local clients (class C)"

Is it even possible to bypass steam validation with the "official" server binaries?

that's the newer kind of usb header (3.1/3.2), you can get adapters if your motherboard only has a usb 3.0 header

I have 2x 27" screens with a dock, and xfce always takes years to find out what the fuck is going on, and activate the monitors whenever I dock the laptop.
It also frequently fucks up with all sorts of bugs. GNOME works great for this, but I like xfce and want to stay, but this shit is getting annoying.

are there any other ways to organize firefox bookmarks aside from folders and separators? i have 1,363 bookmarks and i can keep track of them but they're not nearly as well organized as i'd like them to be.
like, can i indent bookmarks? can i name separated segments? i don't want to make a million more folders every time i see a topic i want to bookmark that would only have 2 other related bookmarks, and separators only really work twice or maybe three times in a bookmark folder depending on its length, and regardless aren't as useful for me as indentation.

>Why does systemd have any involvement in domain name resolution?
It has none.
>why cant i just write /etc/resolv.conf and have the kernel read it on calls to getaddressname()?
You can, it's your system.
But more to the point:
1. How will you express DNSSEC and DoT/DoH in your file?
2. How will you resolve specific domains only through specific interfaces (VPN, LXD bridge, etc.)?
3. How will you manage name resolution for domains that exist only for as long as your VPN link is up?
People often moan about <modern tool> because they think legacy requirements are still valid in modern systems. But they aren't, so either adapt or use the old systems that satisfied those legacy requirements.

the only thing I've been able to do is play dead, I'm down to maybe 2 robocalls a month after a couple years of never answering numbers I don't recognize and not having a voicemail set up. Blocking their numbers and reporting them to the FCC escalated me to getting called every hour. After beginning the play dead protocol, it dropped to once every workday for about 6 months, then 6 months of every monday, and it began skipping mondays a few months ago. It may have been 3 weeks since my last spam call at this point.

look up Ring 0 software stuff if you wanna know more
basically Ring 2 is common software, like overwatch or porn browsers
Ring 1 is operating system stuff like Windows
Ring 0 is suppose to be kernels and drivers that everything else latches on to. but is also stuff like rootkits/anti virus/anti cheat software
Everything can see/modify lower ring stuff, but there's also ring -2 which some advanced cheat software runs in but can also brick your system if you're not careful

Well, yeah, but the methods vary on a scale from "I got all the important bits" to "Yep that sure looks and behaves exactly how I remember it", and also on a sliding scale of how automatic it is.
I recommend starting with Singlefile for individual pages and if you really need every page on the site, use whatever archive.org is using (I don't remember the name).
If it's documentation, you can probably get buy copying and pasting into a word document, but that's nothing to brag about so I'm not supposed to recommend that, just don't forget it's an option.

all I did yesterday and the day before was leave my CPU ( ryzen 5600) for more than 48 hours in stress use approx 80%-90% use (converting some videos to AV1), or maybe 100%
sometimes when I used my PC, I don't know if it's relevant. And yesterday I also installed that demo of the titanic recreated in UE5 lol, from this link: https://www.titanichg.com/ (Titanic: Honor and Glory)
and I don't really remember doing anything else since then... but I think after installing that demo it started these problems shortly after... but I already reset my PC to 3 days before and everything is still the same
oh, I also installed a new windows 11 update (KB5036980) and reinstalled it after the restore point, I couldn't see if this was the cause, I forgot

Wrote a python script to take a bookmarks.html file exported from firefox, and create a homepage.html which organizes the bookmarks in a table and you can filter them by regexp.

Pretty ugly homepage right now and I didn't add the parsing for folders yet, but I will soon, unless someone beats me to it.

Just export your bookmarks to bookmarks.html, then drop it in the same folder as the python script and run the script and it will generate a homepage.html

Yes, it's a usb2.0 A to microB cable.
The first one is 1m long and was included with the phone, it's almost worn out and it disconnects when moved but worked flawlessly.
The other one is 2m long, bought from a cheap tech store but it plugs quite well and I felt like it's a quality cable until now, I generally use this for its solid connection. However when the phone is in fastboot mode it isn't recognized.

figure /g/ is probably better than /diy/ for this. I'm a retarded man, what's the go-to source for learning how to into raspberry pi?

I want to make a batch of somewhat "functional" pipboys that are basically glorified mp3 players. I've fucked with electronics before but I've never done any actual coding or anything other than altering a few lines of code on my printer. I don't need/want "true" functionality, I'm perfectly happy to have the pi programmed to:
>boot and show menuA.png
>rotary encoder switches between a few png's to look like the pipboy in game
>button starts playing mp3s on shuffle, pressing it again pauses it
>potentiometer changes volume

I don't mind going through and learning how to do all this but I'm hoping to skip that initial bullshit of going through 30 low quality tutorial sites until I find one that's actually good

I have a pandas question:
Does replacing values in a dataframe cause those values to loose correlation with each other? I had aproject where they wanted to replace those who spent more with a median value with a 1 and those who spent less than the median value with a 0, I did that and all the correlations came back with 1.0.
Is there a way to replace values but keep the underlying correlations? Does get_dummies have a function that allows you to set ranges?

Ok so, in C# I can put "using System.Drawing;" so I can use its classes directly, like for example "Bitmap myBitmap;".

So why then, if I have "using System;" at the top of the code, I can't write "Drawing.Bitmap myBitmap" if I decide to not write "using System.Drawing;"?
>>
It's an example. Let's say I have a list of 10000 most searched musicians and I want to extract the top 100 most influential ones and arrange them by date.

Mozart and Beethoven are there, but most of them are from the 60s onward, in fact most of them are from the 00's onward, because the data is collected by visibility and current singers releasing new material overshadow all of the historical ones. The curve looks like a log. So in order to correct this, I could apply a logarithmic scale buffer to the data, then if a musician is from the 19th century he would score higher than someone from 2005. There would still be recent ones, but they would have to be much more relevant to appear, whereas the farther back I go, the more forgiving the cut line would be.

Does that make sense? I'm trying to manipulate this in a way that is more historical, while still taking the data into consideration. If I try to equalize it, then it doesn't work, if I take the top 10 musicians from each decade, the 60's would exclude a lot of great names, top 10 musicians from 1910 not so much. However, if I leave it as so, the new musicians would erase all of the past ones.

Regarding web session tracking, what exactly is the resolution being passed? It's via javascript, so window size on site load? Refreshed by activity with a loaded page (e.g. maximize window after loading, fetching content within webpage)? Is a browser in a tiling window manager basically guaranteed to be unique by filling subdivisions (particularly with adjusted size rather than even division) or with padding? Is the passed resolution inclusive of toolbars or just usable website render space (e.g. does maximizing with a task bar or extra row for bookmarks etc. make one unique)?

How accurate are these things?

I decided to test a bunch of USB wall chargers, they're old and slow (I haven't even moved to proper USB-C charging yet).
This thing showed them to be outputtng more power than their spec.
The meter obviously gave readings in Watts, I did a simple division to work out the Amps if the voltage can be assumed to be at a fixed 5V, although of course who knows maybe the voltage is more than 5 in these. But assuming it's 5, here are the rated and measured currents.
(I took readings from different wall sockets, one through an extension. Charging different devices. Different cables. Mostly pretty consistent results. A couple varied between devices. Also some outputted super consistently for any single device, not even fluctuating from the number, others jumped around a little bit.

>Nokia (fixed cable, Micro-USB)
rated for 0.55 A, supplied 1.0 A, smooth
>Chromecast
rated for 1.0, supplied 1.3, smooth
>Ikea
rated for 1.0, supplied 1.6, smooth
>Moto
rated for 1.15, supplied 1.5 or 1.6 depending on device, also fluctuated a bit during charging any one device
>Umidgi, came with chink phone, using with region adapter
rated for 2.0, supplied 2.4 or 2.8 depending on device, also fluctuated a bit during charging any one device
>supermarket brand (fixed cable, Micro-USB)
rated for 2.0, supplied 2.7, smooth
>Anker
rated for 2.4, supplied 2.2 or 2.8 dependng on device, also fluctuated a bit during charging any one device

1) So yeah, are they accurate and they're outputting more than spec? Or inaccurate readings?
2) Why some were different between devices and others weren't?
3) What does it mean that some of them jumped around in numbers a little when charging a single devices? Others were super smooth and consistent, staying on that specific number the whole time, but some jumped around when charging one device (e.g. between 1.3-1.5, or 2.1-2.3. Does that imply they are worse/cheaper quality? If so, does that imply they are possibly DANGEROUS?
>>
>>100175696
You're trying to numerically rank a highly abstract concept, of course its going to be a pain in the ass and you're not going to arrive at a correct answer because none exist. You will want to look up some ad company's, or government agency's, or credible enough researcher's method for giving measurement to influence and just apply it to music. Also you're going to need a shitload of data: sales, performances of all kinds, adjusted for population, search metrics, replay metrics, and a whole lot of comparing bits of old stuff to see how often it shows up in the new stuff.
Of course if being able to calculate the answer to the question every year isn't worth a lot of money to you, you can just make some shit up.

im switching to linux full time soon as a daily driver (distro undecided) and i cant pick between libreoffice and onlyoffice
onlyoffice looks nicer but it seems like it just has a word processor, power point and spreadsheet modules compared to libre having everything
is there any reason to use onlyoffice over libre?

Dont fall for distrohopping like other gtards. Its mostly all the same, besides the package manager, kernel and package version selections. Go debian if you want something stable (it just works), arch if you want bleeding edge or if you want to break your install constantly and keep learning how to fix it.
The only really different distributions, which are meme distributions, besides some rare cases, are nix and gentoo. (Avoid both)

As for document editing software latex (package is texlive-full on deb) is supreme. Next is google docs then libreoffice.
>>
>>100185003
Note if you go through installing debian and want your proprietary drivers you'll have to edit the package config to add non-free and contrib

Also they provide iso's that come with a desktop environment (not by default, its somewhere on their webpage). I would absolutely recommend that over their default installer tool
>>
>>100184507
All the other shit is just broken in Libre. I wouldn't bother with Onlyoffice unless you have a specific reason.

It's usually used for ustoring ser mailboxes and for the send/receive queues.
When a user sends an email and it can't be delivered immediately (destination server is down), then the email needs to be spooled locally. The place for this is in /var/spool.
Same with print jobs that need to be distributed to printers.

Either it should transfer everything which does not conflict first or you can setup how it should handle said conflicts beforehand.

No, functional programming is used by pretty much all the big tech companies. But you dont need to focus on it when you're first starting out, unless its something that you enjoy learning.

whatever you enjoy learning, just do that, you will learn faster that way.

Think of an end goal project in mind, what youd want to know how to do when you know how to program. Keep that project in mind and use it as fuel. Take steps to get you towards that project.

Because of Cloudeflare 4chan now changes the md5 of images but if you bust the cache you can get the original from the servers, which will be able to be reverse searched on archives as they already do that.
All it needs is a random query parameter like ?{whatever string however long} - the parser has functions to randomize tokens and I have some ideas but I'm way too new to this and web design and it filters me on how to make this "simple thing".

What "AI" do people use to remove or replace parts of the image with something else?
Like for example replacing all the picture frames in picrelated with something else? I can do it in Photoshop but I'd guess it's faster to do this with AI nowadays.
Stable Diffusion? Can SD do things like partial image replacements or "deepfaking" The Rock into Walter White for example? Or is it only for creating something out of "nothing" (text prompts)?

I don't use it, but I know enough about it to tell you to look into NovelAI. Bing also has an AI image generator. I'm not sure on generating an image with ChatGPT but it could probably assist. One thing to keep in mind if you utilize ChatGPT for advise on how to use something: It can be wrong. You don't need to know how to code, just type in key word "tags" which describe the type of image you are attempting to generate.

I just figured out the ctrl+click circle ping.
Settings>Devices>Mouse>Additional mouse options>Point Options
Under Visibility, "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL-key" was checked. Unchecking the box solved the issue of the circle pings, but I still need two fingers to use the mouse. I have no idea how that "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL-key" somehow became checked when I have never accessed that setting. The mouse was not doing circle pings on CTRL+click ever in the years I've had the laptop and then just started doing it as soon as I suddenly need two fingers to use the touchpad. Any idea about a hotkey that may have changed my touchpad settings?

No its not retard. Microsoft just wants people to use visual studio and anyone who doesn't want to use it and buy their commercial license can fuck off and figure it out themselves. That said, it is still the best tool to develop cpp with on windows period

Developing cpp outside of a big name IDE on windows and managing the build system and dependencies just takes a bit of time to figure out.

That said, python is great too. Especially if you want to write some basic graphical applications while you learn. Just do whats fun, you're just starting out so cut yourself some slack

The image generator assumes that the user is white and either racist against everyone else or actively seeking the presence of other races to make up for ones original sin or at least prove you're not racist. So it will randomly add racial and gender terms to various prompts as long as it doesn't think the result has a good chance of being offensive.
Not a single word I just said is an exaggeration, this is exactly what they believe and that is exactly what it does.

Don't be retarded and do not open it.
Only trust the amazon site tracker and the e-mail updates.
Any link/site asking you to input your info is scam.
The most shady thing that could happen to you is that the courier got your cellphone number and they call you when the package is out for delivery, because they want to make sure you're home so the package doesn't get stolen (or they have to bring it back if you live in an apartment building).

I have a 'persons' collection in mongodb that contains the following objects (modelled in c#):

public class Person {
public String firstName;
public String lastName;
public List<Address> addresses;
}

I have a REST API that exposes various endpoints for CRUD operations on 'person' resources. If I have an endpoint that allows you to update the firstName of a person, the HTTP method would be PATCH. My tech lead agrees with this. But when it comes to an endpoint that adds an address to a person's list of addresses, my tech lead says it should be POST because we are creating a new address. I don't agree because we are updating a person resource, just like updating the firstName. Adding an address is still updating a person resource. So who is correct? PATCH or POST or does it even matter?

If you want to be extra safe, do it on public wifi so whoever sent the link cant grab your ip. Not like they can do much with your ip though. Most likely the link is just a basic phishing scam which is only dangerous if you are dumb enough to enter personal info i.e. credit card info

You mean what do you do after physically installing it? You'll need to install an operating system on it. To do this you'll need a CD or USB drive containing your desired OS (you can make one by burning an OS .iso to a usb or cd), then with the usb/cd inserted into the computer, boot up, enter bios (how to enter bios depends on brand of computer, it may be pressing esc or f2 or f12 or something else during boot), then going to boot device priority and setting your usb/cd as the preferred boot device, then save and exit (press f10 to save and exit), then just follow the prompts to install the operating system.
Obviously you will not have any of your settings, photos, games, documents, etc so if you want those you'll have to re-install your stuff, transfer your files over, etc.

The answer is very simple: if your request contains the entire resource in its body, then the request is PUT (you replace the existing resource).
Otherwise it's a PATCH.
>A PATCH request is considered a set of instructions on how to modify a resource. Contrast this with PUT; which is a complete representation of a resource.

But let's say we switch from mongo to SQL and our persons collection becomes a persons table. we also add an addresses table and store addresses there along with the id of the person they relate to. Should our REST API now change because we have two resources? Now, adding an address is creating an 'Address' resource where as before it was only modifying a 'Person'. Should it now be a POST? I don't like the idea that the database choice affects the API design, that doesn't feel right. It feels like I should be able to switch data sources without changing my REST API

I got a new Razer Barracuda headset. I immediately noticed a behavior where it will "sleep" after a few seconds of silence (I can hear a slight static noise followed by a lack of white noise that is standard with a wireless headset). It will then "wake" when it detects audio playing but there is a delay to it, so it cuts off the beginning portion of the audio. This is a big problem with short sounds like discord notifications because the sound is finished playing by the time the headset "wakes" so I miss the audio cue entirely. I cannot believe this shit is by design, do you bros have any idea what could be going on or what I could do to keep the headset active persistently?
