Why is setting my 13600k CPU LITE MODE = 1/2 making my system unstable as all hell
I did the test. 3 ram sticks are only 5% slower than 4 ram sticks. Latency is nearly identical in aida64 and cinebench and user benchmark ram scores nearly identical. When I google search weather 4 ram is better than 3 ram all I see are reddit post saying it will absolutely will destroy performance with no one actually doing the test. Thank for reading my blog.

Mode 9?CPU Lite Mode changes the AC/DC load line characteristics of the board, lower values mean the VRM is providing less voltage compensation as current flows. If the CPU asks for 1.1V, the VRM can't just send the exact 1.1V because there are voltage drops along the way. It's a physical characteristic.CPU AC/DC loadline is meant to compensate for that VRM impedance. This seems to also affect the CPU's IMC as lower AC/DC load line can crash my PC with memory OC enabled, including XMP.https://skatterbencher.com/2021/11/25/skatterbencher-31-intel-core-i7-12700k-overclocked-to-5400-mhz/#Vf_Curve_Deep_Divehttps://www.overclock.net/threads/asus-maximus-z690-extreme-i9-12900k-guide-load-lines-vf-curves-adaptive-voltage-by-core-octvb.1794957/#Understanding%20LLC,%20AC_LL%20&%20DC_LL

If you're memeing about blowing a bunch of money now and want to spend less then get a 7600x and a 3060/ti then upgrade later when games actually exist that are worth playing and stick with am5 for a while. All the people who got 2600s/3600s and are now maxxing out with x3ds are quite happy. Or just blow your wad if you really want to now it's up to you. If you build a mid tier/budget like that then just get a peerless assassin cooler. Might just buy one off him if the 5000 series dissapoints or if he makes me think he wants to just get rid of one of em.
>>101095339AIOs pumps fail in 5-6 years, the liquid also leaks around then. A fan fails and you just replace it. Then there is the price for the 2C difference that a nice AIO will actually do. A nice air cooler is $36-110, a functional AIO that won't break before 5-6yrs will be at least $200. The cheap ones fail pretty quickly. Considering you're using a laptop from 2018 says buy an air cooler.
>Seagate 14TB external HDD for 250 leaf bucks / 182 burger bucksI'm on the fence because I'm scared of this single drive just failing but I also don't have the money to build an entire NAS right nowHow reliable are these things? >>101095438Thank you for explaining it to me. Just to be clear I meant I was going to assemble a desktop to replace the laptop but I figure that's obvious.
>>101095587I mean based on how long you have lived with a 1060 mobile, you probably aren't going to be building another PC before the aio gets old. And the performance difference isn't large enough to necessitate the price on top of that. They seem cool but really aren't worth it unless you just want to go all out and build something that looks cool and buy an extremely hot cpu and will be rendering long videos for many hours. Even then the benefit of them is that they get cooler faster but once they warm up the difference isn't as substantial, meaning over time the initial difference begins to nearly even out. If you don't buy a hot cpu you can just use the stock cooler and be fine. Also the AMD 7800x3d is like 10C cooler than a 14900k at full load maxed out. A nice AIO might make sense with a high end intel housefire.
>>101092995Pyrex is borosilicate, tempered glass is soda-lime (although modern Pyrex-brand glassware is made out of tempered soda-lime glass). Soda-lime glass has a thermal conductivity of 0.7-1.3 W/(m*K).

what's up /pcbg/, I'm conceptualising a sff high powered gaming rig. I want to watercool it to have more room for bigger cards. Here's my question: I have a rainwater collector and have access to the piping in the room the pc will be in. would it be sufficient to just attach the system to my piping with a classic PCIe watertube slot, or will the poor waterpump in the pc have way too much load?Pic related is the type of build I'd be aiming for.
>>101096223You want to use distilled water + silver coil or a pre-mixed liquid cooling solution. Otherwise you'll either corrode your water block with the rainwater as it still has ions in it that could react with your water block or it could clog up with precipitates and organic matter.

>>101092501Have a friend that has a frozen notte 360 that seems to always run at max under load. It's cooling a 7600x (105 TDP). It is maxing out at the thermal limit under stress test, fans blaring, but the radiator itself is cool to the touch. I have a silent assassin on a 7700x and can cool it just fine, well below the thermal limit (it hits power limit under max boost clock). So I have a hard time thinking the cooler is set up properly.I personally thermal pasted both of them (and yes, before you ask, no sticker), and used the same paste/amount. Pump is set to always run at max currently. I don't bother with liquid coolers myself. Is there something I should look out for, or is there something possibly wrong with it?
>>101096559For office/web it doesn't matter. The larger AMD ones, on the G-series, are capable of light gaming (think esports/indies) while the basic models are not.Assuming this is a Facebook machine you're probably going to go Intel just because they have CPUs with an IGP in the ~$100 range while the entry price for AMD is higher.
>>101096663Yeah it could be DOA. It happens. Do you have a spare cooler to test?If not, try turning the fans way down and listening for the pump noise. No noise = dead pump. Could also be a bad mount so try remounting it if you have some spare thermal paste.
>>101096714Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. It's too noisy here for me to be sure, but I think I can hear it. But yeah, next step if so is to reseat it.

>>101098802"Retina" level displays are 218-220ppi.Once you've used one, you cannot go back. 4K at 27" isn't even on par with a retina 5K. It's so crisp, so clear, and in the future when subpixel antialiasing gets removed from Windows entirely (it's already been removed from all "modern" apps), you'll need one, just like on a Mac, if you want anything to look good.
>>101098819In the vast majority of desktop computers, the components generating heat aren't touching the case at all, so whether it's made of aluminum, plastic, or wood, it's doing fuck all to cool it.Things like laptops and rackmount servers where the components are squished into tiny spaces can benefit from their case being a conductor.
>>101098740Do these recent OLED monitors actually obsolete the Eizo/Viewsonic/BenQ/AOC professional displays that we've seen in past years?
>>101098788You want good colors and high pixel density? That's a small price to pay.
>>101098896> the components generating heat aren't touching the case at allexcept HDDs which generate a lot of heat, sure but there are still fans distributing the heat to the internal air, which transfers it to the case. which is enough for a system to dissipate like 150W, depending on the case and target temeprature, with just passive heat exchange with the case. there are literally tens of thousands of x86 systems running in all kinds of industries this way.

What the fuck is the point of watercooling if it just performs as well as a $40 dual tower air cooler and has more points of failure than an air cooler, while needing to be replaced every couple of years
>>101101308air coolers all throttle within 5 minutes of full load. your cpu/gpu with dynamic frequency scaling KNOWS this so it pulls back the clocks gradually. some people are too retarded to notice the worse performance but its there if you check synthetics getting worse or your frametime over a graph.
>>101101308lower noise/higher perf during long workloadsthe water absorbs heat more readily so whatever heat spikes that are momentary results in less heat in the chip and less fan ramp up noiseLess stuff inside the case itself so theres no 2kg cooler weighting down the gpu and air gets around better for other parts.

Super rare ones are even 16:9 or 16:10. Usually they run at at least 85hz to prevent noticeable flickering and reduce the whine to imperceptible.CRT TVs on the other hand are typically 320x240 or later ones are 640x480 and they're limited to 50 or 60hz. They suck compared to desktop CRTs, but do have their place for retro game consoles as they're the type of display those consoles were designed for.

>>101103210>DLSS is unplayableThis. Even at it's best, it's still blurry. I have to enable it in Talos Principle 2 to get it to run at 120fps on my 3070 Ti and if it weren't such a slow paced game it'd be unplayable. All the textures are noticeably blurry until you stop moving and it takes a second or two for it to correct itself. You can literally see the textures get clearer.Other games I've tried with DLSS (Yakuza series, Death Stranding) look even worse, backgrounds are always blurry and it fucks things up like character's eyes when blinking, but at least my GPU can run those games at native 1440p without issue. I really don't understand anyone who says DLSS is better than native. It's a crutch, which is fine for old hardware, but it shouldn't be the default option.
>>101103221TDP is a marketing number really - you need to see actual reviews for actual power draw and (important here) the transient spikes. It isn't much good if the card pulls 250w most of the time but then spikes to 350 and trips your psu OCP. >>101103395Many modern games support 16:9 and 21:9 only now. Anything using UE4 or UE5 for instance and most console ports out of Japan. The FW900 might not be the best CRT, but it sure beats having multiple inch thick black bars on the top and bottom of the screen at all times.

>>101103428Most games including cyberpunk and Helldivers still support 4:3 and for other games there are patches
Sup /g/I know gaming at 4K is mostly GPU bound, but I have a 3900X currently and I'm wondering if it'll be worth upgrading to a 5800X3D. It's temporary, I'm planning on a new build late next year but I don't want to blow a huge amount on switching from AM4 at the moment. It's paired with a 4080.
>>101103540I went from 3900x to 5800x3d at 4k with a 7900xtx and noticed quite a jump in some cpu bound titles - particularly some older titles that can't scale past 4 threads for shit which meant the 7900xtx was stalling out waiting on the cpu. The two specific examples that stand out in my mind are far cry 3 and 4 - you need to limit them to 4 threads anyway but my fps doubled going 3900x-> 5800x3d in those two titles.
>>101103277>>101103221well shit, I may have to go with a 2060 super then, I dont feel like getting a new psu
>>101103755>2060 superGarbage card not worth $5. Unless you're upgrading from integrated graphics, you can get something better. A 3060 will use less power than a 2060 or 2080 Ti and cost way less that the 2080 Ti.

>>101096398Why? Jensen announced gaming GPUs are a meme and said 5000 series won't be coming for at least another year, if ever because AI is more important, and AMD and Intel can't compete. If anything the price will go up thanks to inflation.

Would it be a good idea to upgrade now from a 5800X3D to a 7800X3D? Prices are pretty good right now for the CPU and RAM, no idea about the Mobo but should be decent.I'd wait for the 9800X3D but apparently it won't release before next year and will cost 500€ or something?
